My New MONSTER FISH is Finally Here!

Several long attempts to grow-out a Malawi Eyebiter (Dimidiochromis compressiceps) have had frustrating outcomes where both turned out to be females. Rather than roll the dice a third time I contacted James Largo at the Cichlid Shack and he had the adult male monster fish I was looking for.
But since I was already paying for Southwest Cargo why not include another beautiful fish? Then James tells me he threw in a few extras and I suddenly needed to figure out how I was going to quarantine two large fish that should be separated and several 2" fish ... with only one QT?
Here's how I solved this GREAT problem and here are the highlights of what I'm calling a "five-star" fish buying transaction.

Great vid and hat thanks Ben! Always a good thing when you have solid vendor! awesome new fish. That’s the first eye biter I have seen that got my attention. Very nice coloration

Nice , just FYI eyebiters are nice , and from experience not as aggressive as you think , but the problem happens when you turn the lights off at night . Just get use to having fish with damaged eyes in the morning . That’s why I prefer the strigatus, Almost sane shape nicer color & not as aggressive & doesn’t bite eyes .
Largo is a good dude! I'm good friends w/Matthew Moore, and he lives not far from the Shack so I see what he has on the reg. He has great fish! I've paused ur vid right now to type this comment... lol. Now let's see these FISH!

That 500 is stellar!!! That's a fish I don't see often in my area but would love to have one. That Eye-biter is stunning! The blue's already looking great! Can't wait to see him in his permanent tank all colored up. Malawi Gar r a favorite of mine as well. Very nice pick ups! Looking forward to updates on all these fish. I'm about to give in finally and order fish. Cichlid Lovers has albino eureka reds(one I've wanted for a long time), and Largo has some albino flavescents and sunshine's I'm really considering.

Those are some Gorgeous Fish...That's also a pretty sweet quarantine tank. I have a similar tank for quarantine minus that cool little divider. Great Video Ben✌

Ordered an Albino Taiwan reef from him and he is an absolute stunner. I plan on making the trip from Oklahoma to Tempe to pick up a few fish in person!

Happy new year Ben. Nice acquisitions. It seems like these days, everybody is on the eye biter. Coincidentally, I got mine about a week ago, it's much more smaller, about 4 inches, but he already has some nice colors on and he's doing great so far.

Hi Ben, you call that winter lol? You need to spend a couple of weeks in my world. You got some pretty amazing studs my friend. Keep a close eye on that eye biter, no pun intended. They can get kinda aggressive once they settle in. James really took care of you well. Thanks for sharing 👍.

Lars Thuesen it’s something shippers use that I think helps keep the fish calm during shipment...but since I don’t ship I’m not entirely positive. Thanks for watching.

@@BenOchart yes he, ( not sure of sex) blue on top of head from upper lip between eyes, looks like orange on top of dorsal fin, more blue on front part of back fin, bottom fin, can I get another one? I have a 125 with 2 maylandia lombarfoi, and a labidochromis, thanks in advance, love your tanks and channel BTW.
Just an FYI my daughter has that tank for her betta. The filter stops running at least once a week, might just be something with mine but just thought I'd share.

I usually always try to buy local, here is a quick example, maybe 2 years ago I was in market for a new riding mower, went to Lowes during the 4th of July sale I think, plus a 10% coupon so it brought the John deere to about omost 300 off, I canceled order went to my local owned mower shop and got a cub cadet xt2 , buy local I say when possible

Judge and the family I made it (cut it) out of a plastic overhead light diffuser. They sell them at hardware stores and you cut them to the size you want.
I have 3 of those petsmart tanks, I keep bettas in there. They’re great.
Eyebiter = aggressive fish, beautiful but not so friendly with other tank mates especially when mating

South East Cichlids?
Well im in Vegas and these clowns at South west cargo played soccer with my box along with losing it for 12 hrs ,. They sent it to Reno even with all markings on box... my box was frozen when found.. they were smart allecks and wouldn't tell where they lost my box or even let me see it until I paid for my shipping known damm well what they had done-!!! Clowns must just vegas
