Predator Haps are some of the coolest African Cichlids out there. What they do that is different from other African Cichlids, is they Hunt for their food. They have different approaches on how they hunt. To see some of these practices in person is awesome.
Here are a few Examples.
Nimbochromis Fusco: They hunt small cichlids by ambushing them.
Nimbochromis Linni: They hunt be using their long snout to suck small fish from cracks.
Aristochromis Christyi: It attacks its prey by tilting its body, focusing on the prey with one eye, then it slowly descends on the prey before securing the fish with a sudden sideways strike.
Buccochromis Nototaenia: They like to hunt small juvenile haps that live over open sand.
Exochromis Anagenys: They like to hunt mbuna from a titled position and uses its strong grip to catch the prey.
Dimidiochromis Compressiceps: They prey on juvenile fish hiding among plants. Its thin body helps it avoid detection. It can use its protrusible mouth to reach out and suck in its prey.
Champsochromis Caeruleus: Is a pursuit predator. they feeds mainly on small Malawi Sardine.
