Tip: dont throw vanilla bean pods away after using the seeds! you can dry them out and blend them into a powder, then you have vanilla powder and it tastes more like vanilla than the actual seeds! hope this helps someone🤍

Or you put the bean pods into a jar with sugar and make your own - unbelievably tasty - vanilla sugar...
Recipe: Ingredients: - 65 g sunflower butter (~3 tbsp) - 500 mL water - 500 mL pea protein milk - 200 g sugar (~1 cup) - 3.5 tbsp coconut oil (enough to get to a total of 100 g for the entire batch of ice cream) - 30 g tapioca starch - 1 tbsp vanilla extract Instructions: 1. Combine sunflower butter and water in blender and blend for 1 minute. 2. In a sauce pan over medium-low heat, add sunflower milk, pea protein milk, and sugar. Stir constantly until. 3. Add coconut oil and continue whisking. 4. Turn heat off, add tapioca starch while whisking rapidly. 5. Once all tapioca starch is added, turn heat to medium-low and continue whisking rapidly until it starts to thicken. 6. Once it starts coating your spoon or spatula, take it off the heat. Continue whisking so no skin develops. 7. Transfer to another bowl (to help it cool down faster), place plastic wrap on the top of the mixture (to prevent a skin from forming). Put it in the fridge to cool as much as possible (at least a few hours). 8. Remove from fridge, add vanilla extract and stir to combine. 9. Add custard to your ice cream maker and follow ice cream maker instructions.

I'm now convinced I should just always make my vegan milk by watering nut butters instead of getting the anemic results from using a nut milk bag on soaked and blended nuts

@Tristan Janniere For rice milk or oat milk and other grain milks you'd probably have to go through the cheesecloth method, but for nuts it is apparently that simple

If you whisk coconut cream then add coconut milk, almond milk and choice of flavored extract/essence then freeze it ...BOOM you get dairy free plant based "ice cream"!!!!

Yes its good too and it's also pretty much raw if raw is important to you. I usually don't have to cook my vegan custard ice cream base especially when I use this formula but if using the tapioca starch you will need to lightly cook the base.

Seems a bit more like a semifreddo than ice cream. Not that that's a bad thing, semifreddo is absolutely delicious, but you will definitely get a different texture than if you go the traditional cooked and churned custard method of ice cream.
@bensuperdetka

Yeah, that's not how ice cream works at all. I'm sure it's (why wouldn't it be), but it won't have the proper texture and mouthfeel of an ice cream. Not even close.

My favorite homemade vegan icecream is made with cashews and sweetened with medjool dates. It's raw and paleo friendly. Soak nuts and dates overnight. Put drained/rinsed nuts a high power blender with dates (with some of the soaking liquid), add pinch of salt and flavor of choice. Blend until smooth (mixturewillbe thick), pour into container and freeze.
"richer, thicker, quicker" I'm in. I didn't like the new kitchen scene in your videos at first but I think it's vamped up your videos. You're killing it with these vegan foods. And we benefit from it. My mornings usually starts with one of your videos. Thank you man, keep up the good work.

made this twice the first time was good but i didn’t like the coconut oil so i made a few tweaks this time. I wanted to try it with cashews so i used 60 grams of those and the two cups of water. I used soy milk both times cause the pea one was too expensive in my town. I swapped vegan margarine for the coconut oil and omg it was so creamy ! i also blended it after i cooled the mixture to make it emulsified better because the first time i found the coconut oil didn’t encorporate enough. this is such a great recipe.
This seems like something I can definitely do! There's only so much Nice Cream (frozen bananas) that you can eat...

I've tried lots of vegan ice creams and I also make it. The best taste and texture I've found is Trader Joe's Vanilla ice cream and the price for a quart is under $4. I haven't had the pleasure of their other flavors but I'm told they also are fabulous.

Frozen banana, papaya and mamey make great ‘ice cream’ bases. Usually I do the banana one, takes a little practice to learn at what ripeness you get the effect you want (milder flavor to mix with other ingredients, sweeter, more banana flavor).

It really was! I have also made the dipping sauce with my base being raw unsalted pumpkin seeds, or hemp seeds. I had to get inventive because the Vietnamese Summer/Spring rolls are served with a peanut sauce as the dipping sauce and I am allergic to peanuts (as well as almonds and cashews). I use all the other ingredients that's normally added in the dipping sauce, but my base is either one of those homemade seed butters.
The new Ben and Jerry's sunflower creme brulee flavor is the absolute best food ever so I need to try to make this at home!! Thanks!
Tried it....loved it. So good and creamy. Thank you. NOW you should try and replicate follow your heart cheeses.

Bringing ice cream into the 21st century! Love it!
I made this recently with some changes Sunflower milk thickened with lambda carrageenan and locust bean gum. Added oat milk to get it to 2L. Warmed it up. Added a splash to 500g invert syrup with 100g of cocoa powder. Added back to rest of the milk. Brought to temp. Added it to 14oz of 90% vegan dark chocolate with 1/4 cup cocoa butter to melt fully. Reduce temp, add vanilla extract and spin.
