Fun fact! There are only 3 people in the cannon that know how to make lembas. Yavanna made the recipe. Then she passed the knowledge to Melian, who lastly told it to Galadriel.

I wonder if lembas bread was a depiction of "ships biscuit" which im sure Tolkien ate in WW1... its a tightly packed, moistureless roll of dough bread that never goes bad and was used heavily by the european militaries and navies.

He shows the book he got it from, I've seen that same book on Amazon as well, been thinking about getting it since there is....amazingly enough all things considered...no official Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit cookbook. Damn near everything is getting official cookbooks now but there are still plenty of UNOFFICIAL ones like the one he pulled out which is "Recipes from the World of Tolkien: Inspired by the Legends", it's normally $19.99 but right now it's on sale for $17.22 before tax and shipping.

Cook some brown lentils, dry them, and powder them, then use 25% of them as substitute for flour, and it makes it waaay more filling.

One thing a lot of recipes I see get wrong is the use of corn. In the UK ESPECIALLY around Tolkien's time, "Corn" meant any type of grain...EXCEPT "Corn" as we know it in the US, even today that usually has a specific name to denote it from other types of grain. So it's more than likely this was a type of wheat or whole wheat bread or some such. To be fair this looks like it does from the movie but I'd actually like to see someone try to make a recipe that isn't a type of cornbread or bread that uses cornmeal.

ok but why is KZread recommending me this i have literally never watched anything pertaining to the lord of the rings but over the weekend i watched all of the lord of the rings and the hobbit (on cd so how could youtube know?) not complaining, but this is just more evidence that you devices are listening. also we do need that recipe!!!

What's the shelf life for that stuff? Lembas bread is supposed to keep forever, but I don't think that stuff would cause of the egg. (Looks really good though)

Would last maybe 1/4-1/2 trip to mordor (but for real, I think it would be ok for a while because it is meant to be snappy and hard like a tack biscuit, so its not like it will go notably stale like cookies will)
