Making Bag : Boxy Bag

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi guys, this time we made this episode about to make lady's boxy bag. Its need to work on a little more complex of bag's part. But if you guys work with veg-tanned leather without lining will be way more easier to complete. (Nice hardware lock will change this bag design felling.....even change from leather strap into some more bling chain.

    Hi iLoveLeatherNYC. In our videos we like to make in brief and not too long videos. So the main part are in the video. We are really sorry if we have to trim some part off. And we are in Bangkok, THAILAND so some tools and material are local and cannot find online. Just some of them you might find something similar. -Leather : Local cow chromed tanned in EPSOM emboss -Lining Leather : Local pig skin -Stiffener : Splited cow veg tanned leather, or you can use texon -Glue : Local adhesive contact "Bondtech", or if you can find "Prym" "Dunlop" "Pattex" but I never try "Barge" -Pricking Iron : Amy Roke 3.38 -Linen Thead : YueFung -Electric Creaser : Regad size F1.5 -Accessories : Local -Edge Paint : Fenice Hope this can help.

    Hi. Thank you for your quick reply. Yes this is very helpful information to have. I totally understand the video being long, perhaps make a separate one for the strap? (or any project that is complex) that way we can watch whatever we'd like to see. Your skill level is incredible so a longer video is no problem and more than one is fine.

    Hi, I absolutely love the result, but I have a few questions. How thick is the black leather you are using and also, what is the material of the “stiffener”. I live in a country that speaks Spanish and I have no idea how to call for a “stiffener”. Thank you!

  • @craftsmangus

    @craftsmangus

    6 жыл бұрын

    That black leather is about 1.8 mm. thickness. (Many of cow leather sell in Thailand are about 1.8). For stiffener means to help bag in structure, to make it in good n stiff shape. Normally I use the splitted leather from the thinning process ( top layer for making wallet, underneath skin for stiffer). But for some place that didn't have leather splitting service is kind of hard to find. You can use other thing like EVA foam/texon/drawing paper/ rubber mat ( thin n light). It will give more wight to the bag. And each stiffener will give different feeling. Hope this help. :)

Does really the facing underneath (attached to the flap on a straight line) let the fap folds easily later on?? Big big question occupying my mind... hope you can help me. Thank you so much in advance 🙏❤

  • @craftsmangus

    @craftsmangus

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi sama. For the facing underneath (may mean the lining right?) that can be fold easily, its is really depends. Like depends on purpose of design of bag's flap to be stay an upside down U-shape or willing to be flexible flat. If fix shape, glue n paste together when its in curve shape (can be on mold) will have it stay, but the lining must be not too stretchable. If flexible shape, glue n paste on flat surface with flexible lining is the way. But for flexible shape, the lining must not be to hard, it will be against the fold. Hopefully my English can be understandable. (I'm not fluent).

    Hi, could you explain the process of your edge finishing? What products are you using and why.. ;)

  • @craftsmangus

    @craftsmangus

    6 жыл бұрын

    For edge finishing I use Fenice primer and paint that sold to the factory that I know in Thailand. For me I use 2 different primer, 1st is to close up the hairy layer of the edge and 2nd different primer to fill-in the edges before applying the paint. Primer is very important in making this process easier. After the primer is dried I paint, after the the paint is dried use a very fine sand paper then paint again. After the 2nd layer of paint is dry sand paper again then use a wet sponge or dilute the paint with water and apply the last layer of paint very thinly. Also, this video I didn't heat iron on the edge but you also possible bees wax and heat on the edge too.

    Puede que sea más económico hacer tus propios bolsos y tú con tu creatividad e imaginación reproducir el que te guste o hacer algo único y que nadie más traiga.... Pero se necesita tener un taller en casa con todos y c/u de los materiales y herramientas necesarias o hacer una inversión en ello y yo creo que muy pocos los harían y pues la verdad resulta menos tedioso ir a comprar uno que hacerlo, hoy en día nos hemos vuelto muy dependientes. Aún así me encanto el video y ese bolsito es muy lindo.

For things look like fork normally called pricking iron. For other things and knowledges I cannot explain all in comment. If you would love to learn I'm not sure where you are and if there is local leather workshop around your area or not. But if you like to learn online you can check at leathercraftmasterclass.com Just before you decide to take class online or local, you may need to seek a lots of info, may be browse in KZread for tutorials first. And also I do make video of short review of one good book at kzread.info/dash/bejne/layasciSnKi8Y8o.html :)

    For this I bought from local shop without online service. But if you live in Asia you can contact IG europelle, or in Europe IG fineleatherclub.

    Your work is amazing, but, is there a point on using vegan products, if the leather is real? Or did I misunderstood something? @@ I am not vegan, it just is that it didn't make any sense to me x_x

    Hi Shinomiya . Veg-tan leather termed from vegetable tanned leather or tanned from trees matter eg: oak bark, tree's root or tannin and other matters (part of example). Can be cow veg-tanned or goat/lamb or other hide/skin. :)

    Veg leather means that it is tanned with vegetable color - hence the name. It has nothing to do with being vegan. :)
