Beautiful job. Check out some horse tac supply stores for those brushes. I used to own a horse and we used brushes like that to get the dust out of the hair. The fine flexible bristles were able to get down and in between the tight horse hair. Anyway, again great job and thanks for posting.

i used a kreg jig to make pocket holes in order to join my planks together....but im thinking that biscuit joiner is probably the better way to do it!

Biscuits do virtually nothing in the way of strengthening the joint--you could snap a biscuit in your hands. They do help greatly with aligning and maintaining the alignment of the boards during glue-up.

I have to respectfully disagree. The biscuit has a lot of shear strength and if you put several in your joint, they add a lot of glueing surface to that joint. The biscuit inserts glue into the board. This results in a lot more strength than a simple butt joint can.

im a novice but from what ive read the glue is usually stronger than the wood - you'd think with more glue (as you get with biscuits) it would be somewhat stronger but not by much

How did you accomodate the wood movement?

I am wondering the same thing, do you get a gap in the mitered corners?
