Yes Linn, very nice work. Most impressed with your range of knowledge & level of workmanship. Mind you, a military grade precision soldering instructor would have a heart attack at the condition of your soldering iron, however guess it works for this kind of project. Anyway, truly a pleasure to watch. Thank you.

Linn that looks absolutely fantastic. I especially like the way the tongue-oil and beeswax makes the grain of the walnut stand out. The signature on the bottom adds a touch of class. lol Take care and be safe. Thanks for sharing Roy

Just showed this vid to my daughter. She loves it!
Linn, I bet if you produced a couple of these and sold them on Amazon, they would sell out quite quickly. These are high quality.
Very Nice! There may be one in my future lol! I just started my own wood channel and am gaining quite an appreciation for those of you who get a new vid out each week. I've enjoyed many of yours and I've picked up a few tips while watching. Thanks!!

Love the fact that you used wood in an electronic project, very elegant, I will try to do one too, the only other option I will add is a built in fan in the base to suck out the fumes. Will send picture when done, you inspire me.

Fantastic build. I was almost to the point where I was going to suggest adding a magnifying glass, but it looks like you read minds too! I am always impressed with your creativity.

Thanks for motivating me Over the few years i've had a third hand (mananged for over 40 years without one), i've been wanting to change it around because it was sometimes awkward for holding wires for soldering, but kept putting it off because i wasn't sure any of my ideas would work, i was basing it around the original base, your use of a larger wood base was what i needed. My version isn't pretty, but it's now more functional

Quality work, Lynn! The light is great, the base is great, but what I really was interested in was the third hand clips. Most 3rd hand tools don't hold in place well at all, so I've been looking for good ideas on how to make the arms. Having them able to pop in and out of the base is real good too. Thanks.
Brilliant - brilliant project, brilliantly presented. Inspiring.
The combination of walnut and aluminum is just spot on! Beautiful work Linn!

Don't forget to limit the current, otherwise the LED won't live long! (many boosters have this feature). and I would add a magnifier too :) Looks awesome!
What a neat design! A solved light problems using cheap ikea aluminium frying pan(as heatsink and cover) and 6x 10W 12V leds, with cheap notebook adapter as power source. I've used tap and die(M3) directly into pan to hold the leds in place. My design looks "how ya do 'in" a little bit. Thanks for your video. Oh and I probably fell in love again! (to creep it up a little bit)
Very pleasing and clean work. Thanks for sharing it. Just for a note who wants to do smt like this, be careful while applying pressure on phosphorous side of the LEDs because it may cause defects on LED cells, so you won't say bye for a couple cell lines as a surprise :)

That's cool Linn! That light looks incredibly bright. Perfect for intricate work. The only thing I'd have to say that I scratched my head over was how you screwed on the mesh on the bottom... I think screwing the corners down, instead of the sides, would prevent the corners from getting catches and bending out of shape as you move it. Other than that, I love it! Nice touch making it a "signature piece" too! Cheers!

Hi lynn thanks for the ideas by using the aluminum tubes as a third hand
This is fantastic!! I really need one on my desk. ....
You an amazing woman! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Nice project. I think you should break the edges more on the holes where the wire goes up the light arm otherwise the sharp edges may, over time, cut through the cable.
What a great one-of-kind project. I like the mix of metal and wood. Very impressed with your design and skills. Very nice job, Lynn

Now THAT'S the best soldering third hand I've ever seen! It looks high quality, sturdy, stable and robust. The arms don't wiggle like in all the other such projects I've seen until now. Congratulations on the idea and its execution with attention to details. I respect such thoughtfulness and work. No need to watch more, I've decided already: subscribe. :) PS.Have you thought about selling this item as a kit or ready-to-use product for those who need a high quality third hand and don't have time or possibility to make one?
That is so cool....Exactly what every electronics nerd needs!Good job!

Hey Linn! I like what you are doing here on youtube, thanks for the inspiration and instructions for things! And maybe a little tip for you. I saw you were drilling the aluminum dry, and aluminum is kinda sticky. Most of the times it helps to put some spirit (you know, the blue stinky burning liquid) on your drill and workpiece. A little WD-40 helps also. Keep it up!
Amazing, Very Useful Good Job Linn 👏👏

Ah! I've been meaning to buy my own 3rd hand stand, but after seeing this, maybe I'll buy my own. Thought I might share that I like to use 12v halo (or ring) LED lights for this type of application. Lots of LEDs in a ring to keep the shadows off of my work!

Hi fellow Scandinavian :) Great project! You've inspired me to create a similar set of helping hands my self. Your project came out really nice! Keep up the good work!
Pretty cool stuff. It would have been cool if you would have tapped holes into the aluminum so you could just screw in the arms. This would have made them removable when you don't need all 4 corners covered. Very nice original content!

That turned out awesome! may i suggest if you do another project with leds and you dont need such a high powered led look into 3W they wont get as hot and are 12V and for most applications plenty bright. but I do like the added look of the heatsinks on the light and the walnut is beautiful great project!
