I want to get arc shape carbon fiber tube about 164 cm in radius and 128 cm in length and 3 cm in diameter. I might try wrapping it around the pipe and bending it. But I'm worried about whether I can get it back out.

I have an old Wilton vise from the late '70s when I worked with heavy equipment. Somewhere in my travels, a jaw broke out, and farther down the years that jaw got lost. Oddly that lost jaw has really kept me from restoring and putting the vise into service in my wood shop. But, now I know that heavy equipment working vise needs wood and leather jaws to to go to work in my retirement woodshop. Thank you for the video and idea!

Might have been worth trying to flatten the twist before surfacing.. I've seen soak with hot cloths & clamp to solid surface, increase the clamping pressure, then let dri still in clamps.or split to strips / quadrants, surface individual and reglue

It's interesting at 1:56 in the video that your son calls regular polygon circles, as indeed they indeed approach a circle as you increase the number of sides. Maybe include some irregular hexagons, octagons, etc, to capture the essence of what makes a shape a certain type of polygon. Maybe even consider modifying the labels of the existing ones to mark them as '(regular)', as his geometrical maturity grows :)

Hi Lynn. This is the first time I have ever heard the word, decagon. Parents like yourself should be designing America's school curriculum, not the educated idiots seeking to destroy the US by dumbing down the each generation with subsequently lower and lower quality education curriculum.

If you have a balance or scale capable of weighing +/- 0.1 g, you can show him that the weight of the 3x3 square plus the weight of the 4x4 square = weight of the 5x5 square. Sounds like you're doing a good job of teaching him how to think. Best wishes.

Great tools to teach with. It’s better than the computer program schools are using assuming the students can teach themselves, which doesn’t work. I’m a retired shop teacher who had to deal with the students who were taught on the computer, not much was retained.

Make triangles to compose the regular polygons to show where all the formulas can be derived just by knowing about triangles. The old technique for calculating pi involved inscribing and circumscribing polygons with more and more sides which could be computed to narrow the range of pi which was very hard back before you could look it up on the web :)

Thanks, now I know I'm not going to be able to get away with a 3K watt inverter for my table saw that runs at around 800-1,000 watts. I also have an air compressor I want to run that draws about 1,500 watts but the high starting surge might surpass 10,000 watts on start up.
