Building a Laser Engraver Table with Smoke Extraction (How To Upgrade a Basic Laser Engraver)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
We've been making a lot of improvements to the laser engraver lately by going through different ideas for smoke collection, building a stand and developing different systems to cut out things.

This would be perfect for cutting out your coffee filter holders. I still use mine. 😀
Darbin, the issue with fire detection is probably sunlight triggering the flame sensor. Nice build. Consider replacing the clear acrylic with laser compatible colored acrylic.
Wonderful you have a fine, smaller-scale cutting tool 👍
Thanks a ton for making this!!!
Really brilliant design and work, Linn! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great design, I like your videos.
Вы гений!
Another great vid!
I love the idea of the mobile engraving table. I made my first laser engraving and cutting tries under the range hood in my kitchen. My small woodshop is in the basement of a "typical" european brick & concrete building, so I'm looking for one of those window seals, typically used for indoor AC units over here. I think that might be the cheapest and esiest solution and would also work in other rooms. Even though I bought my 2nd engraver bundled with a housing, I still need to Build one for my first engraver. When I can either expand or maybe move my workshop next year, I'll be thinking about a decent size CNC again sooner or later. I can't get those machines out of my head. As diode lasers are becoming more and more powerful, and some small CNCs are also offered with a laser unit, I wonder when there might be powerful laser units availabe for big CNC tables. Installed side-by-side with the router, those tools could complement each other pretty nice.
Instead of having a hole in the side of the cover to feed cables through, cut a half circle in the bottom edge of the cover. This would allow the cables to remain connected when you take the cover off or put it on.

that would be smarter, but more difficult to cut carefully. what's done is done.
The stand and enclosure look great! Would it be worth adding a second hose that runs from outside to the enclosure? This would provide unconditioned makeup air to the enclosure instead of exhausting conditioned air from your shop.

That is a good idea. Thanks
Wonder if you could now add a downdraft table ON TOP of the table you have now - raising the laser up roughly 6 inches? Jus thinkin' out loud.
New to lasers and planning. I'm experienced with 3D printers and know that a stable platform is important for them. Wasn't sure if the caster wheels affect operations with the laser (wobble). Is that something to consider when building a platform for laser cutting?
