Perhaps the best Soldering station I ve ever seen so simple, so functionnal
That's a nice design. Good work!!! Thanks for posting.
Nifty idea, thanks for sharing!
The most satisfying video to watch! And a good idea!!
By Far one of the best videos I've seen.!! Not to mention the using woodworking skills to make a tool to help with electrical skills. Bravo and thanks for the post !

Dude I just found your channel and everything is super cool!!!! Have been watching for hours!
Man this is so awesome great job bro.
Nicely done!
This is awesome!
That is some awesome CAN tech!! I Love it!
wow..awesome work... keep it uo...you did a great job
I truly enjoy the many steps that are usually involved in your work, even in the smallest things. Inspiring stuff !

Master craftsman at work great video
cool project, I think I will have to make one. Nicely done!
Excellent and very prolix work!!
I've worked without a third hand my whole life without any problems or complaints. Like yourself, I'm also very much into electronics and woodworking. This is a very elegant design. Perhaps just a bit too elegant. Even a butcher with 3 hands can only use one knife at a time - however this project looks like it might be worth a try... Thanks for sharing your ingenuity and ideas with everyone.
Well done, a good make, one thing though you have all that equipment, but you don't have a lazy susan for when you are painting objects, I think a new build project is in your life. Many thanks for the upload
Sooo... apparently, you wave your hands around super quick, flip a few power tools on and off and you end up with a badass soldering station... well... I tried, I'm now missing a finger, I ruined my wife's blender... and the neighbor is pressing charges... ...seriously, awesome job!

Joe Adkinson ha, cheered up my day. It is fair to say the Dustin has access to some pretty serious equipment there. I'm definately jealous.
Very good! Liked it
Beautiful
Nice job!
Wonderful!
Very nice !! It seems that it always takes at least 3 hands to solder components together , and I don't know any people who are built that way !! I have several " helping hands " devices and vises on my work bench , but I never thought of using those flexible " coolant nozzles " to hold things while soldering . GOOD IDEA !! A suggestion or two , if you don't mind , when installing the coolant nozzles , if you drilled the proper sized hole , and used a tap to thread the hole in the wood ( the glue is still a good idea ) The attachment would be more durable . I like the slate plate , although it could be considered overkill by some folks . I have soldered electronic components for many years on a plywood topped bench , without any problems . Anyway , very elegant project , I like it !! Cheers , take care , and have a good day !!.....73...

I saw this too any build my own 3. hand with coolant nozzles, but these are very flexible and are not so usefull as it looks on the first view. They will bend away also if you only soldering with light pressure and its also hard to match 2 cables at one spot (with 2 of these "hands"), cause they act also a bit springy. Just keep this in mind. I prefer the traditional thrid hands.
very nice job,n like the way you did it so fast,i like your style.cheers
VERY INTELLIGENT!!! AND COMFORTABLE!!!
When I realized you added those wheels for the soldering wire, my mind just exploded, great video
Now this is a good idea. When I see your videos I always think "Time for some DP!"
really nice... fantastic job... Regards from Portugal
That's brilliant. Great workmanship as well. My idea would work well with yours: I reversed the fans on a laptop cooling pad, and taped carbon filters on the back. When I solder, the whole work area is a fume extractor. You can run LED lighting from it as well.
Very cool idea
Wow I wish I could do that. I would love to have a 2 bay one like that. Man you rock.
I was wondering where you were going with this, nice build. I will look for materials to build one myself. Do you roll your solder onto the spools or take the rolls and mount them on the spools?
What a great idea
u re a artist
Nice I like it i am going to make that now
took me awhile to get what you were doing but ended up very cool!

very cool!
Nice build! - could use something like this myself
awesome!
Made a version of this I called it Hydra... Aluminium plate with 5 arms like yours. Fantastic idea.. Thanks
what adhesive/epoxy did you use to attach the alligator clips?
It is as functional as entertaining. Next version make a place to keep the soldering paste or flux and the solder sucker handy. Like others, I have tool envy over your CNC set up. Your personal skills are none to shabby either! Thanks for sharing! Joe
Это потрясающе!!!
Fantastic
Wow, very cool! Thanks for a great video! I'll prob try to make something similar but my lack of power tools means it will be a more basic, simpler version! Btw, what kind of soldering iron do you use/recommend? Should also, have an exhaust fan / fume extractor!
@dpmakestuff

+Blakehx This was purposely built over the top. I dont know what brand my soldering iron is. For the work I do, I didnt need anything too fancy. My shop is well ventilated and my soldering projects tend to be small, so I don't need to worry about the fumes. Thanks
what adhesive/epoxy did you use to attach the alli-clips?
Man you really have all the tools to make whatever you want!

is that a piece of tile you have? That would be good idea to use, easy to wipe extra solder off, maybe..
Really cool where did u buy the clip
It looks like you're using the smallest size of Loc-Line tubing. Is that strong enough to hold everything that you've soldered, or are there applications where a larger diameter would be recommended?
I LOVE your fast-forward with the sounds! How did you do it?

Very good job...
The design looks good, the finished product is well done. I'd have to work with it a bit to determine how handy it would really be. For electronics I would add a sized anti-static mat with a ground lead. I couldn't help but notice the power equipment used: CnC router, hand router, table router, table saw, planer, drill press, electric sander, pneumatic nailer what about $3,000 to $5,000 worth of tools-nice. I wonder if I could get it done with my scroll saw, circular saw, drill press, miter box and a back saw…

+Roger Lamb I went over the top for the sake of going over the top. You would essentially have the same thing if you drilled a couple holes in a 2X4. Since I don't typically do a lot of electronics soldering I was not concerned about static. Most of the solder work I do is just wires and other simple fixes.

Dustin Penner It wasn't a criticism just an observation. I really like the design and if I had all the equipment you had better believe I'd use it too. I've been working as engineer and a technician before that for over 45 years so my perspective is always filtered through my profession. your design looks like it would easily store on a shelf when not in use.
and I thought I was the only one with a bad case of procrastination when it comes to the actual soldering work. All said this is one beautifully made soldering station

Love this design. As a one-armed guy I've always been too intimated to contemplate soldering work one-handed. This however inspired me to re-think that decision. Cheers man

you did a fantastic work, but i better buy one online cause try to make one of those will need all those machines...
Great job.. I know it was time consuming, but hey its a hobby.
+Dustin Penner Do you have a BaseTech soldering station? I have the same one as you! It's so cool, I like it :)
Really slick project and great design. What kind of CNC machine do you use?

Lots of clamping area and it's easy to hold when adjusting it. It's also a great push stick if mine wander off and I also use it to hold small pieces in place.

Cool
sweet. Now I'll just save up the 50,000 for the tools you used to make it. JK, nice design.

Very good I bought cheap gopro flexible tripods and complete with crocodile clamps.
Nice job Dustin! I could really use one of these. If only you had an extra you can give me!
Крассава 👍👏
Perhaps you can add another pipe section with air to help direct flux smoke away...
Nice
All I need to do now is go outt and buy the tools needed for a complete woodshop. It would be cheaper to buy a $100 set of helping hands. The spool holders would throw me off as I prefer to hold the spool while I feed it into the joint. Learned that way decades ago and it is my style.

+Why Not they're not at all other than the fast forward. If you think Jimmy would have a problem with my videos, you could bring it up with him. But since he's one of my long time subscribers, I think he is aware of me.
Is there a reason you didn't have the CNC machine complete your parts? For example, you drilled the holes in the circles you used created in the CNC machine. Was there a reason you didn't have the CNC machine cut those holes? Not being disrespectful, just curious if its a limitation of the CNC machine or was it just easier to drill the hole manually? Nice project and video.
@dpmakestuff

+dahveed284 All CNC machines are going to have limitations. I knew I could get a very close to perfect circle if I used the CNC, I knew I would get a perfect circle if I drilled them after the fact. I didnt want to fight to get the dowels through. Thanks
baller!
You should try to add a Solder Smoke Absorber to the setup.

Ali Moeen I'm just being a smart ass. I don't do a lot of soldering so the chances of me harming myself with fumes is very low. I tend to hold my breathe when the flux is smoking. Thanks!
Dustin Penner I need to get you to build me one of these. I would try, but i could not cut wood straight if someone did it for me. Looks nice.

Not knocking the project or the creator - it's a cool station, but a simpler solution is to use modeling clay or even silly putty to hold components for soldering and other times an extra hand is needed for intricate work.
Nice idea. I could have used this yesterday.Gonna make one. JimE

Josh Kaufman haha! Thanks. I go overboard for the sake of the video. What you really need is a couple of those arms mounted to a heavyish block of wood. It would do the exact same thing as mine!
Cool dud.
