എന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിലെ മാനസിക പ്രശ്നമുള്ള ഒരു വ്യക്തിയെ ഒരു പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഒരു മനഃശാസ്ത്ര ഡോക്ടറെ കാണിക്കാൻ നാട്ടുകാരൊന്നും അറിയാതെ കൊണ്ട് പോയി. രോഗിക്ക് അസുഖം ഇല്ലെന്നും കൊണ്ടുപോയ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ആണ് പ്രശ്നം എന്നും ഡോക്ടർ പറഞ്ഞു. അവസാനം ഞങ്ങൾ തിരിച്ചു പോന്നു. എന്നാൽ കുറച്ചു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ രോഗി വയലന്റായപ്പോൾ നാട്ടുകാർ പിടിച്ചു ആശുപത്രിയിലാക്കി.

We can prescribe medicine based on FMRI scan or other brain imaging techniques,.. It will be far better than prescribing medicine based on patient experiences or assumptions; that too almost similar medicine for all the patients. I agree it's not affordable, but that doesn't make present psychiatric diagnosis methods correct

സൈക്കാട്രിയിൽ diagnosis പലപ്പോഴും അല്പം ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ള കാര്യം തന്നെ ആണ് . ആദ്യകാലത്തു വലിയാരോളളവിൽ രോഗിയുടെ അനുഭവത്തെയും മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ വിവരണവും ആശ്രെയിക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്നു എന്ന് തന്നെ കാരണം . physical symptoms ഉം ലാബ് ടെസ്റ്റ് എന്നിവ അത്ര സഹായകരവുമല്ല . പക്ഷെ കാലക്രമേണ diagnose ചെയ്യപ്പെടും എന്നതാണ് യാഥ്യാർഥ്യം ! എത്രെയോ പേര് ആധുനിക സൈക്കാട്രിയുടെ ചികിത്സ കിട്ടി സാമാന്യ ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്നു ! മൈത്രേയനും നമ്മളെ ഒക്കെ പോലെ തന്നെ ചില വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ തെറ്റായ "മുൻധാരണങ്ങളും" തെറ്റിധാരങ്ങളുമുണ്ട് . പക്ഷെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തി ഈ തെറ്റിദ്ധാരണങ്ങൾക്ക് ചിലരുടെയെങ്കിലും സ്വീകാര്യത ലഭിക്കാൻ കാരണമാകുന്നു . അതാണ് വിഷമം, സങ്കടം !

well said. diagnosis in mental disorder is a complex task. Iam a clinical psychologist myself and i know it well. it needs huge anount of time, onset, course etc. Not easy as doing in physical illness.

Very good counter argument

One of my close relatives troubled me with his acting of being a chronic patient with various diseases even with syptoms showing being a psychiatric patient. I treated him after I was tired of him taking to many specialist doctors and after visiting so many super speciality hospitals. What was my treatment ? Pardon me, I gave him some super blows occasionally ! Now he is a good healthy normal person and no problem at all. No one in medical field diagnosed him as a patient of any worth, but he was admitted in hospitals and many doctors even prescribed him some harmless simple medicines. So you cannot blame doctors and hospitals.

This may be depression. My advise is to consult a psychiatrist soon. U will feel better. Anyway psychiaty have improved from 1970s. Also u have problem which without treating will be difficult

മെഡിക്കൽ വിഭാഗവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഡോക്ടർ അല്ലാതെ വിമർശനം നടത്തുന്ന എല്ലാവരുടെയും അവസ്ഥ ഇതു തന്നെ ആണ്. ഒരു ശാസ്ത്രം എന്നതിന് അപ്പുറത്ത് രോഗിയെ കാണുന്ന ഒരു അവസ്ഥ കൂടി ഉണ്ട് അതിൽ. രോഗിയുടെ അസുഖം മാത്രം അല്ല കുടുംബം, ബാങ്ക് ബാലൻസ് അങ്ങനെ കുറെ കാര്യങ്ങൽ നോക്കേണ്ടി വരും. ഒരു ദിവസം ഏതെങ്കിലും ശരാശരി 100 രോഗികൾ വരുന്ന casualty യിൽ പോയി നോക്കിയാ മതി. എല്ലാ ദിവസവും ചുരുങ്ങിയത് 2 - 3 പേർ എങ്കിലും ഫങ്ഷനൽ ( അഭിനയം ) ആയ രോഗികൾ വരും. ഭയങ്കര ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് ആണ് ഇവരെ നോക്കാൻ, basic investigation എന്ത് ചെയ്താലും നോർമൽ ആകും. ഇങ്ങനെ കാണിക്കുന്നത് തന്നെ ഒരു psychiatry അസുഖം ആണ്. Psychiatry കാണിക്കണം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാൽ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും കേൾക്കില്ല. എന്റെ കൊച്ചിനെ ഭ്രാന്തി ആക്കുവാണോ ഇത്രയും ടെസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ട് അസുഖം കണ്ടു പിടിച്ചില്ലെ എന്നൊക്കെ ചോദിക്കും. സ്വതന്ത്ര ചിന്തകൻ എന്ന് നമ്മൾ കൽപ്പിച്ചു പോരുന്ന മൈത്രേയൻ പോലും ഇങ്ങനെ എഴുതി വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് എങ്കിൽ പൊതു ജനങ്ങളുടെ അവസ്ഥ പറയണോ.. പൊതുവേ മെഡിക്കൽ മേഖലയിൽ വികസനം കുറഞ്ഞ മേഖല ആണ് സൈക്യാട്രി എന്ന് തോന്നിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിനു ആ രോഗത്തിന്റെ അവസ്ഥ മുതൽ പൊതു കാഴ്ചപാട് വരെ തടസ്സം ആണ്. എന്ന് മറ്റൊരു ഡോക്ടർ (എംബിബിഎസ് മാത്രം).

Psychology gets so much criticism from people in hard science. They fail to understand that in hard sciences like chemistry or biology the perception is not a criteria. But in psychology you have to take account of perception. An example would be while studying about colors from a physics domain and psychological domain is different. How can we understand how all brains perceive colors. Same red spectrum could be perceived different by different animals. Religion, music, art, language, all have an element of perception of the reality. So science won't be able to understand them like physics or chemistry

ജോസ്റ്റിന്റെ ആകുലതയും മൈത്രേയന്റെ മറുപടിയും കേട്ടു.. ഇത്രമാത്രം പറയാം.. പൂവിന്റെ ഭംഗിയും സുഗന്ധവും മൃദുലതയും പുഷ്പിക്കലും ചെടിയുടെ തളിരും പച്ചപ്പും നിർവൃതിയും ഒക്കെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടാസ്വദിച്ച് നടന്ന് നടന്ന് ഒരു പൂന്തോട്ടത്തിലെത്തുമ്പോ പൂവ് അപ്രസക്തമാവുന്ന കാഴ്ച.. എന്താ പൂവില്ലേ.. പൂവുണ്ട്.. പക്ഷേ പൂന്തോട്ടത്തിന് പറയാനുള്ളത് സമഗ്രതയുടെ കഥയാണ്.. പല നിറത്തിലും തരത്തിലും ആകൃതിയിലുള്ളതുമായ പുക്കളും ചെടികളും.. ഭംഗിയുള്ളതും അത് കുറവുണ്ടെന്ന് കരുതുന്നതോ തീർത്തും ഇല്ലായെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നവയും.. കൊഴിഞ്ഞതും മൊട്ടിടുന്നതും.. കുറ്റിച്ചെടികളും അപുഷ്പികളുമായ വിവിധ തരം സസ്യങ്ങളും അവയോടിണങ്ങി ജീവിക്കുന്ന ചെറുജീവികളും ശലഭങ്ങളും എല്ലാം ചേർന്ന അനുഭവം.. ഇതിൽ താരതമ്യമോ വാഗ്വാദമോ സാധ്യമല്ല.. രണ്ടും സ്വതന്ത്രമാണ്.. രണ്ടിനും സദുദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ.. പക്ഷേ ഏതറിവും പക്വതയോടു കൂടി കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതുണ്ട്.. കുറവ് അഥവാ error ആർക്കും വരാം.. ഒരു വലിയ ശരിയിലെ ചെറിയ കുറവുകൾ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിക്കാം.. പക്ഷേ ഒരിക്കലും ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടരുത്.. കാരണം അദ്ദേഹം മുൻപോട്ട് വെയ്ക്കുന്ന ആശയങ്ങൾ ഉതളിച്ചവയല്ല.. പഠനവും അനുഭവവും ബൗദ്ധിക അനുമാനങ്ങളും ലോക വീക്ഷണമുള്ളവയുമാണ്.. അത് മനുഷ്യന് ഭൂമിയിൽ ജീവിക്കാൻ മെച്ചമായ ദിശാസൂചികകൾ തരുന്നു.. പല സങ്കീർണ്ണമായ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾക്കും ഉത്തരം തരുന്നു.. തെളിവായും സാക്ഷിയായും സ്വന്തം ജീവിതം തന്നെ നിൽക്കുന്നു.. അടഞ്ഞ അദ്ധ്യായങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും സാധ്യതകളിലേക്കുള്ള വാതായനങ്ങളാണവ.. ജീർണതയുടെ ദുർഗന്ധങ്ങളിൽ വീശുന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയുടെ സുഗന്ധമാണ്.. ശ്വാസമാണ്.. ജീവനാണ്.. ശരിയായ വിമർശനങ്ങളോട് മൈത്രേയൻ കാണിക്കുന്ന സ്വീകാര്യതയും വിനയവും എളിമയും ബഹുമാനവും ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തലും ഊഷ്മളതയും മാതൃകകളാണ്.. ഈ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനെപ്പറ്റി കൂടുതൽ മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ സാധിച്ചു.. ജോസ്റ്റിനെ പോലുള്ളവർ specifics ഉം ആയി വന്ന് കൃത്യതയോടെ പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഒരു വിഷയത്തേക്കുറിച്ച് കൂടുതൽ അറിവ് പകരുകയും ആരോഗ്യകരമായ പഠനങ്ങളും ചർച്ചകളും നടത്താനും മുൻപേറാനും സഹായിക്കും.. ആശംസകൾ.. കുതിരവട്ടവും ഊളൻപാറയും പൂജപ്പുരയും വിയ്യൂരുമൊക്കെ ജനനിബിഢ മനുഷ്യവാസകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളാണെന്നും അവിടൊക്കെയുള്ള ചില സ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് മാത്രം ആ സ്ഥലങ്ങൾ സമൂഹത്തിൽ എങ്ങനെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നുവെന്നും കാണാതെ പോകരുത്..

ഷോക്ക് ചികിത്സയും ഇന്സുലിന് കുത്തിവെയ്പ്പും ഒരുകാലത്തു സൈക്യാട്രിയുടെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്നു ഇന്ന് അതിനെ സൈക്യാട്രി ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു കളഞ്ഞു.

സൈക്കാട്രിയിൽ diagnosis പലപ്പോഴും അല്പം ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ള കാര്യം തന്നെ ആണ് . വലിയാരോളളവിൽ രോഗിയുടെ അനുഭവത്തെയും മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ വിവരണവും ആശ്രെയിക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്നു എന്ന് തന്നെ കാരണം

@@sebinks9016 Diagnosis based on experiences is not that much reliable and that's a big disadvantage of psychiatry. They should move towards clinical diagnosis, brain mapping etc
