സ്ത്രീകൾ വ്യക്‌തിപരമായും സാമൂഹ്യപരമായും വലിയ അവകാശങ്ങളൊന്നും ഇപ്പോഴും നേടിയിട്ടില്ല എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞതിനോട് യോജിക്കുന്നു । പക്ഷെ കൂടുതൽ സ്ത്രീകൾ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടുന്നതും തൊഴിലിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുന്നതും സ്വതന്ത്രമായി വരുമാനം ഉള്ളവർ ആവുന്നതും ഭാവിയിൽ സമൂഹത്തിൽ തുല്യ പങ്കാളിത്തം നേടുന്നതിന് ഒരു അടിത്തറ പാകുന്നുണ്ട് । അതിന്റെ ഫലങ്ങൾ രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ തലമുറകൾക്കു ശേഷം പ്രകടമാകും എന്ന് ഞാൻ കരുതുന്നു , ആശിക്കുന്നു !

സ്ത്രീകളുട വരുമാനം കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ സാമ്പത്തികമായ ഉന്നമനം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു എങ്കിലും അനുബന്ധമായി അവരുടെ അവസ്ഥയിൽ ഒരു മാറ്റവും വന്നിട്ടില്ല. ഇന്നും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസനിലവാരം കൂടിയെങ്കിലും ചിന്തിക്കാനുള്ള ശേഷി കൂടിയിട്ടില്ല. അതിന്റെ കാരണം അവസരം കിട്ടുന്നില്ല എന്നതാണ്. അയൽ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിൽ പോലും സ്ഥിതിയിൽ വലിയ മാറ്റം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇവിടെ സ്ത്രീകൾക് മാറ്റത്തെ ഭയക്കാനുള്ള മനോനില നിലനിർത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നു. മൈത്രേയൻ പറഞ്ഞതാണ് സത്യാവസ്ഥ - ഉദ്യോഗസ്തകകൾ എന്നാൽ ഇരട്ടിപ്പണി ചെയ്യുന്ന പാവങ്ങൾ, അതാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന എംപവര്മെന്റ്.

Not really. I am a fourth generation educated professional woman from my family. Nothing's changed much over 4 generations. Yes I was encouraged to have a job in service sector where as my great grandmother was not allowed to work after her delivery. That's a small change that happened after generations. Still I am forced to follow strict gender norms. I am like a black sheep in my family. Surrounded by noble obedient women who works in service sectors and the salary they receive are mostly managed by their husbands.
