My late grandmother owned several of her albums from the early 60s on the Columbia label. She loved Mahalia Jackson, Brooke Benton, & The Ray Coniff Singers. Now we own those albums & I've been a fan ever since. I miss my beloved grandmother Mary who died of complications from emphysema & Sickle Cell anemia at the age of 66, in 1991.

My white grandmother listened to Mahalia Jackson all the time. She had a stack of LPs, but the Christian radio station she listened to played her often enough as well. This is very nostalgic for me.

My brothers and I grew up with Mahalia Jackson's records playing in our home constantly! My father was a holiness preacher and he loved her voice. He said he believed she was one of THE greatest Musical Evangelists that have ever lived. He was a bishop in the Church of God Cleveland TN. We had dear friends in the Church of God who were missionaries to India for 52 years. Sister Pospisil told me they had Mahalia Jackson sing for a prayer breakfast and the glory of God came down. People were shouting and praising God because of the hand of God that was on this woman of God. I love her.

This was my grandmother's favorite gospel artist. The seeds she sowed is the reason I'm here now listening. Hope you're doing well up there 🙏🙏

This Lady, honestly she drags the soul of you with her gospel. Ms Jackson has been my childhood favourite, alongside Louis. Such a class act; even when the wig is sometimes all over the place 😁 we move past it, captured by Mahalia's Grace
