I’m a 1925 Soprano sax open mic player. Guess what song will be in the middle of a solo. There’s a more New Orleans similar style version on KZread by The Delta Rhythm Boys. Flashier. About the same era but crossover audience anticipated.

Thanks so much. My father sang in our Church quartet in the 70s and early 80s and they sang this very song and so happens this is the song I still recall them singing as a child. He passed away on October 2022. I think all their quartet has passed now. Im sure they were inspired by these ones - somebody threw our family records away. South African. 05.01.2024

Bettie Spighetti He didn’t steal anything, fool. He loved it and he sang it and he sang it damned well! He did more to popularize black American music 🎵 across the whole world than anyone ever did. If you aren’t so damned ignorant and full of hate you would know that. Elvis always was an very honest and spiritual man, very generous, and always respected black culture and music. Hell, he grew up Ruth it in Tupelo and later on Memphis. Some very ignorant black oriole still resent Elvis, think he “stole” their music from then! How fuckjng stupid can you get! Once a song is out there, anybody can sing it. And you better believe black songwriters were very glad to get the royalty checks from Elvis’ recordings of their songs. I’m white and I sing all.kinds of music, including the spirituals and the blues and I sure don’t need your permission to do so. If you don’t like it, you can just kiss my ass!

Wonderful rendition. I could hardly tell what the soloist was saying in a certain section, but maybe if I listen hard enough. The story of Joshua an The Battle of Jericho is just one of the many examples of what marvelous, mighty, magnificent, and moving things can happen, when we humble ourselves unto the mighty hand of God. Let us SHOUT for Jesus all our lives, even though walls of caps may be around us.
