my mother would listen to her sing with her eyes closed and tears running down her cheeks. I too have listened to her my entire life and actually saw her sing a long time ago in So Calif.

Isn't it wonderful to know, and then be able to declare that there is somebody bigger than I. Thank GOD for GOD.

This song was part of my 7TH Graduation Program at Brown Barge Elementary School in Pensacola Fl.

The greatest gospel singer.

Listening to this song I was transported back to my childhood on Sunday afternoons listening to her voice playing on the record in the 'gram' ... wonderful memories... I'm saying thanks for sharing even eleven years later

Colleen White...l often have those same thoughts...not meaning to sound racist. In fact l was surprised to hear Lucille Ball mention Mahalia's name on the "Here's Lucy" show; thinking that only Blacks knew this wonderful woman.

Just remember folks. She once said in an interview that she would come back from Overseas, having sung to Thousands and when she got home to the land she loved she couldn't, in certain places, even enter a restaurant to buy a sandwich and a drink. Think on that. Irregardless, she maintained her love for all Humanity, completely understanding that the Somebody bigger than we (who are no more than specks of dust) is Love.
