    I also have an F850GS and use a Madstad windscreen. You are spot on about the Madstad. Great product and being adjustable is super. Thanks for the reviews and maintenance videos. Good stuff....keep them coming. I will be watching for more!! Keep on riding.

    I did the side deflector experiment too. I put them back on right away! One thing I did this time (I've had MadStadt on 3 bikes now: Strom, Tiger, 850gs) was to flip the adjuster knobs around so they are on the outside, made it a bit easier to access them. (make sure the washer/nut thing on the other side has it's slot lined up and seats right when putting the adjuster knobs back in, otherwise it will full stop rather than tighten gradually)

    I also flipped the adjuster knobs. Easier to access. The Madstad also allows you to mount a Ram mount for the GPS above the TFT display. ++

    I have a BMW f750 with a Madstad windscreen and I love it. After adjusting it I got rid of the wind noise and no buffeting. The Engine noise is louder but I can ride with face shield up with very little wind. Great Windscreen.

    Thanks for the video 👍 I haven’t looked for another windscreen but I might do in a future. My first bike was an old Yamaha dragstar and I rode it with out the windscreen, of course it was a lot wind noise but nothing that bothered me. But when I changed it for a newer bike I mounted that windscreen I had and took it to the dealer. My goodness what a nightmare. It was like having a helicopter flying over my head and it really hurting my ears. I guess that was what called buffeting. It was painful. My consideration is that I will have the same problem if I buy the wrong windscreen for my 750. I prefer wind noise over buffeting. And for what I understand it can be really hard to get a windscreen that’s fits perfectly because even if two person has the same hight they one can sit higher or lower than the other.

  • @1leftadventures258

    @1leftadventures258

    Absolutely! I agree. But ha I guess one that has a lot of adjustability eliminates that. I’m sure there are others than Madstad, but they really fit my need. I only had buffeting with the factory shield. So I can’t say that any others will work, all I’ve tried was Madstad and I’m totally happy with it.

    @@1leftadventures258 Yes I only mounted the screen and ride the bike to the dealer. If I have tried I may have been able to adjust it. The windscreen is much smaller on the 750 so I guess that most of the air hits the chest. The screen in the 850 is slightly bigger so maybe it lifts the air to the head. The Madstad looks nice, I like that it’s not too high. Maybe it’s about the same height as the windscreen on the 850GSA. But the windscreen from the GSA would probably cost an arm or a leg 😂

    Yes. Madstad has several height options. I like that you can find the right size depending on how tall you are. I think I paid around $280 for the kit.

    Thanks for the review. I decided to go with 16" madstad. Before that I had the 20" puig. I was getting a lot of buffeting with it and I couldn't stand it. Now with the 16" madstad at highest position that puts it 2" shorter than puig I am getting slight buffeting at the top of my helmet which causes shaking. Do you think I should try 18 or 20"? Thanks!

  • @1leftadventures258

    @1leftadventures258

    If that’s what’s happening, and just my opinion, I’d say yes. I wanted more be to hit the top of my helmet vent. If you are still getting buffeting, then I’d go taller and you can always drop and angle to hit your vent. I got lucky and hit the right combo. In my opinion, I don’t want my brains being shaked but i want airflow. It’s hard. But finding that right combo makes your adventures far better. Let me know what worked for you. Thanks for commenting. Chad

    @@geolaizola Yes, I'm about 5'7" and it's been perfect. I have it at the lowest position. Doesn't obstruct my vision over it, my BMW is factory lowered as well. Been very happy, so much less wind in my face & helmet.

    I have a question concerning the windscreen. I have it on a 2023 BMW F750 GS. I am 5‘7“ tall, have a 30" inseam, weigh 184 pounds, always wear custom ear plugs, I have been riding for 65 years, ridden to and in 49 states so I am not a novice rider. I wear a Shoei Neotec helmet ... I get a constant very loud wind blast on both sides of my helmet. Also, a strong wind blast on my arms and shoulders. My primary concern is the strong loud wind on the sides of my helmet, which makes the ride unenjoyable.... I have tried different heights and angles....For me, the 58 degree setting is the best, however regardless of the height, from all the way down to all the way up, I get no buffeting on my helmet, however, the loud wind noise and wind blast on both side of my helmet, arms and shoulders continues. It seems if the windscreen was wider my problems would be cured. I do have the side wind deflectors installed. Is there anything you can recommend to eliminate this. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

It’s just since I stopped, I didn’t get notifications of comments. I’m sorry. I’ve gone through many windscreens. All of them have been simple. Generally it’s 4 screws. Sorry again. I don’t get notifications of comments anymore.
