A Givi screen on my R850RT, it has an upward 'lip' at the top to kick the wind a wee bit higher than the stock BMW screen. But with these temperatures I like a bit of a breeze so it stayes down.

I’m using the Puig Touring screen on my 1090R for longer trips. It seems to work fairly well for me at 183cm tall (I ride with earplugs in). It’s significantly quieter than the short stock R screen. I can see over the top of it on the road even in the highest setting but off road or in the dark the edge of it can be a bit annoying as it’s pretty close to my center of vision. In the lowest setting the headlight shines into it at the bottom so it lights up and is a bit annoying in the dark. But overall it works well for me. I bought it mainly because it was the cheapest taller screen available to me and also was the easiest to get my hands on (in norway).

I have a standard GS with a Touratech spoiler that makes it bearable on UK motorways. My previous GS was a 2011 and I had the Wunderlich on that. No problem with the view as I sit well above the top and that’s where the problem lies. Tried several screens and the combination I have is best to stop the buffering but certainly not perfect. Great review as usual👍

Here's my case. 2014 GS with OEM screen, 192cm tall, I ride with the seat in high position and most of the time with suspension in helmet+luggage mode (I have freakishly long legs so extra room is welcome). When I first got the bike I thought the wind protection is very good, compared to my old Versys 650 with MRA Vario screen. Then I found this exact 3D Spoiler on Aliexpress and ordered it for around 45 euros. I didn't expect much but when it arrived I was firstly stunned that it looked EXACTLY like the original Wunderlich ones, even the printing on the glass and bracket was done to perfection, the quality of everything is insane. I almost wonder if Wunderlich is outsourcing it's production to China and then selling it in EU for 3 times the price, and some of the manufacturers in China are skimming the product of the top rack and selling it on Aliexpress. Long story short, it made a huge difference, especially because I have a peaked helmet. Not even a hint of wind on it. I can even ride with visor up on 160kph with no wind in face. As for the lateral protection, it is a problem but not a huge one and I hope that I will solve it with some add-ons. The view through the 3D spoiler was annoying at first but you get used to it pretty fast so that is no longer an issue, I can see just fine through it. Cheers from Serbia, neighbor ! :)

Hi, Marko, the products that are Wunderlich branded and sold on Aliexpress are plagiarisms. We do not manufacture in China. These copies do not have any safety checks and are not approved for road traffic. Since our products, especially the spoiler attachment, are manufactured in Europe (mostly in Germany), we subject our products to extensive safety tests and we also apply for a general operating license for our products, it is not possible to see a price of Aliexpress as a benchmark. In addition, our production methods are sustainable and we try to produce climate neutral as far as possible. All this does not happen with the fakes on Aliexpress. In addition, the use of a fake, copied product that has not undergone any security checks can be very dangerous. Greetings, Sven

If you feel so little responible towards people and nature, you are of course welcome to go through Chinese exploitation companies, but I can't understand that... I think Wunderlich always takes the shortest logostics route and has everything produced in Germany and Europe. Then I am sure that nobody is exploited and I can trust the quality of the products. It's worth it to me!

@@leonkrischer3955 U have to understand something. I live in, most would say, third world country compared to rest of the EU, so it is extremely hard for us to get such products even for the price you guys have out there in the free world. The import taxes are insane and the market itself is so small, the companies are not inclined to even offer the products here through regular dealerships. Many times it's not feasable for us to pay such prices. So we do what we can to get the stuff. That includes dealings like I described. Cheers.

I test rode a GS and GSA and immediately chose the GSA due to wind pro. I will be doing half on and half off road. I rode my K1600 home and realized I needed better touring protection and am buying the Wunderlich. I don’t mind exchanging them on the occasion where I’m traveling at high speeds to the off-road in high heat, but that is only 2, maybe 3, months per year. I’d rather have good protection most of the time. Wunderlich always has the most thought-out accessories too. Nobody compares when it comes to BMW products.

A lot of the wind blast on the shoulders comes from the sold part of the fairing. That's where wind tunnel development makes the difference. Ever higher and wider screens do some good, but have downsides too. Bikes don't have windscreen wipers, and you need smooth airflow over your helmet to clear rain from your visor.

I have a 650 VStrom which I bought used from a local dealer, it has a GIVI Airflow adjustable screen. I am just over 6 feet tall (185) and in 40 years of motorcycling I have never had a bike with a screen before. Riding through a rain storm a couple of days after I got the bike, I set the screen height so that all the 'weather' was deflected off my helmet and upper body, all good. I then started to put some miles on the bike and found it quite twitchy and pretty disconcerting to ride, especially on windy days. In the end, just before deciding the Strom was not for me, I experimented by putting the screen down to almost its lowest level..... transformation! Still no wind on my helmet or body, but a stable predictable riding bike. This may well be common knowledge amongst those who have long ridden with screen, but it was a real eye opener for me.

I tried a Wunderlich screen on my '22 GSA low suspension with bar-baks and Sargent seat set on high, front and rear. I'm short of leg but long of torso, so I sit pretty tall in the saddle.. I didn't think the Wunderlich was tall enough for me. They only make one size. It helped buffeting a ton over the stock screen but I was still getting wind straight in the face.. After trying an Aeroflow and the Wunderlich, I decided I liked my VStream Deluxe Touring the best of the bunch, It was a lot cheaper and just as well made. I also got Aeroflows "Aerowings and hand-guard deflector kit". I'm pretty comfortable on the bike now. I tried two of the clip-on/Chinese knock-off "booster screens". Both lost little bits and/or came apart while on the road and had to be removed. I learned that they do work but the VStream is really too tall for them. I tried turning the upper part upside-down and placing it mostly in front of the VStream. I got a great position where it didn't block my view and really worked well...until about 50mph, where it started banging against the Vstream rapidly. Ah, well... I've had 4 RTs beginning with a '99 R1100RT over 20+ years. Each one got a Sargent seat, bar-baks and a touring screen (Aeroflow or CeeBaileys). This is the first GS. Finding my happy place took a lot longer on this bike. After a year, I'm still tweaking it. I like the storage and geometry of the GSA. I have an AltRider 2-piece flat luggage rack...(basically a pickup bed?) that replaces my pillion seat and standard rack). Great for hauling my camping stuff. But I miss the RT's longer gearing, better highway MPG and aero. Suspension travel of the low suspension GS feels about the same as my RTs. I'm using 90/10 Conti Trail Attack 3. Much better than the BMW supplied Bridgestone 024s. Tread noise was obscene. All fixed with this tire change.

Sadly, the wind at top of helmet causes buffeting while at the same time shoves that wind into the air vent on many helmets. So, on very hot days I might prefer the wind at top. To block all the wind, get into a car or behind a big monster highway bike screen. That cool wind feels good on top of my head.

Look at 6:00 you got to deal with glare, dirt, scratches and optical distortions, not to mention uneven buffeting in all the wrong places. I'd much, much rather not have a windshield at all.

the best height IMO is the one where the screen top part ends at your nose level so that your eyes look at the road just above it. Almost Did a trip to Alaska and the screen got dirty fast with all of the mosquitoes and other bugs kills. Ran into a fellow rider who had to ride standing as he could see the road due to the tall dirty screen he had...

When I was a teenager wind was part of the riding experience and a good blast was expected. Now I am older I find wind has become much more of a pain in the butt. Even the wind noise isn't as funny to the ears as it used to be. I'm afraid wind is just a part of life but it passes.😌😏 BMW used to spend a lot of money in wind tunnels (moto guzzi's I believe) when developing the r 100 RS and RT models. These were designed to be able to sit at 100 mph on autobahn all day long. What happened to that dedication. The wunderlich screen seems to do what it says, great but €175 for a bit of plastic and a piece of metal??? Leave it out!!! Wonder where it's made. Nice to see Dave out of the cellar and doing something useful.😂😂😂. I haven't enjoyed so much "scientific experimentation" since we had a programme called Tomorrows World on UK TV. Brilliant. Once again an epic production were the presenters are prepared to suffer for their fellow mankind!!! Tea and medals chaps!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Is there a noticeable change in gas mileage with the bigger screen?

Rumours have it that a well know after market manufacturer is on the verge of producing an organic screen that expands with increased regidity as the riding becomes faster. 🤔
