BMW 1250 GS Puig Screen Review 2020

BMW 1250 GS Puig Screen Review 2020.
Ok so we have had three of the Puig screens now.
They are a very good quality screen and they look fantastic and do a great job.
Expensive, but at the end of the day worth the money.
I hope this this is a helpful video for you.
Thanks
Tom

Oh the joy of screens . My R1200R came with a short sport screen that I replaced with an MRA screen, and finally a Z Technic V Stream one that came with metal scaffolding brackets .By adding on an adjustable screen extension/spoiler it works for me . My knees almost collapse when I think of the cost . .Good review Tom .

@@gregcnz3301 Ok here goes .My R is 2014 and a non LC bike .I am 168cm tall and have the low 770mm seat on the bike . I chose the mid size 47cm screen as recommended for my height , but this screen sits 2cm closer to the headlight rim than my other screens .For me personally it has two flaws .There is no upward curve on the top edge ,and no slot/cut out in the screen to aid with low pressure behind it .Width wise it adds great protection .My advice is to be prepared to add on a spoiler .I have an MRA X screen sport clamp on design, on mine .This stops very very minor buffeting ,and allows adjustments to avoid Simba of Lion king roars in my helmets open top vent .It took me a while to reach my compromise setting to avoid that .Hope this helps. Ride safe (when allowed ) , keep safe .

I have to tell you that watching your video you gave me quite a hearty laugh! You said “I bought about the most expensive bike you can buy and then I’ve had to had all these extras”…..LOL. You should try owning a Harley Davidson if you want expense after the sale. It’s jaw dropping to say the least. I own both an HD Street Glide Special and a BMW R1250GS and let me tell you the BMW seems like a bargain compared with the HD. HD will keep their hand in your pocket for a very long time. They call it the “Harley Tax”. Thanks for the informative review (I’m considering this wind screen) and the great laugh. Have a great day.

I have done the same and added the brackets too. I find they were slightly out so had to be "persuaded" to fit. The consequence is that no matter how loose the fitting the adjuster doesn't work. So all tightened up in the lowest position and that is where it'll stay!

I have a 2017 1200GSA with oem screen. Wasn’t happy with the buffeting and wind noise, but as we often cop serious cross winds here (in West Australia) I was worried about creating a sail with a larger screen, so I opted to try the Wunderlich Vario spoiler. To me it gave no benefit, but the added weight meant the screen bounced around viciously. Like with yours, they do supply brackets as an extra, but don’t tell you you need them when you buy the spoiler. If you had the screen up at full height it was a visual distraction, and if you wound it down to avoid that, the result was only as good as having the screen up, with no spoiler. So, a total waste of money, however the Aust. Wunderlich dealer was sympathetic and refunded the item for me - very decent. Anything like this, to buy here, must be done online. There are no local dealers/stockists. So there’s no way of trying any of these things - bloody pain.

It might be fine but in my experience with the visor it seems to completely eliminate a buffering that gets created around the back of your head. This was the case on both my verses 1000 and the BMW S1000xr. It may not be the case on the GS though so maybe wait and see.

In my mind most bikes a built to take a 5’8” 70kg rider so if you are bigger than that then you have to make all these types on modifications. I am looking at the Puig screen as well but thinking about with out the visor and if needed I will run my MRA visor. It is a clamp on unit. I am hoping the Puig with take more wind of my shoulders which is think is the problem now. I read through your comments to another gentleman and you said it doesn't work well without the visor. I am afraid this is the cynical way that motorcycle companies operate: “thank you for spending a small fortune on our superb motorbike; would sir now like to buy separately a seat you can actually sit on, an exhaust you can hear, a screen that screens, a mudguard (fender) that actually protects the engine, heated grips... all economically priced at about 10 times the cost of production”.

Without the rear aftermarket hugger my leg got soaked on a wet ride. Another mate bought a 9 month old GSA with both already fitted, but as he takes his proper off road and the mud got caught underneath them he removed them, they're now on mine..win.win stay safe on the lock down and keep up the good work.
