Madonna Reaction Blonde Ambition Tour PART 1 (SHE WENT THERE!) | Dereck Reacts

Ойын-сауық

#madonnatour #madonnareaction #madonnablondeambition
Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at Madonna's Blonde Ambition Tour '90. Madonna's first half of this show if pure non-stop high adrenaline joyride. Things get sentimental for "Live to Tell" and "Oh Father." Is it possible that I approve all songs from this tour? See me go wild for this incredible setlist!

Is there only Madonna today? Could you one day react to her early 80's music videos? For example Everybody (1982) as well as all the videolips of her first album in 1983 (Holidays and some are synthpop-wave, very 80's) and also those of the second album (1984-1985) with Get Into The Groove+ Gambler and Crazy For You (Soundtrack Motion Picture "Vision Quest") ! Thank you from France.🇫🇷

I was a 17 year old fan boy since True Blue when I saw Blond Ambition 90 in Houston TX. After the show ended, I was a different person.. It was absolutely a surreal experience. The impact of this woman had on my life is so great. I am not the only one, I am sure. In those years, with millions of questions in my head about myself and no one to turn to, Madonna taught and helped out a lot with her artistry more than anyone else. Great reaction Dereck; reliving those moments watching you is a great time.

The religious section of this tour is one of my favorite "acts" from start to finish of her career - it's the most artistic criticism of the Catholic Church and the Patriarchy that she's ever put on stage. The through line is just brilliant. From the innocence of the opening notes of Like A Virgin to her sexual awakening and subsequent shame, to covering up on Like A Prayer and the joyful religious ecstasy of it all, to her realization that the Church only welcomes her on their terms, not hers, to the genius of the final costume of Papa Don't Preach where she's covered up, but we can still see the corset in the translucent robe - she's showing that a woman can be both spiritual and sexual and doesn't have to choose, even if the Church rejects the sexual side of her, she is the one rejecting the Patriarchy at the end. It's an important message. Also, if you can find an alternate recording of Papa Don't Preach, watch it just to see the full men's dance at the end of the song (I was impressed with watching the hands playing keyboard, but it definitely took away from the beautiful choreography). It's a really impressive dance break, and one of the only times she's every brought nearly classical ballet to one of her shows, and those gorgeous men just kill it.

This tour raised the bar and set the template for all tours that followed (her own and everybody else's as well) with the different acts that in some cases replicated the look and mood if her videos and in others created an entirely new interpretation of a familiar hit. Also the memorable costuming by Jean Paul Gaultier. Artists had always worked with costume designers of course but never with an actual couturier who could elevate that aspect of the production in such a major way. Of course, it's now commonplace to have top tier designers working on concert tours. And that microphone...they don't call it a Madonna mike for nothing. Also a new innovation at the time that no performer would work without today. I've never seen the Jersey show before. It is nice to see the ponytail in action. She had to abandon it later because repeatedly putting it on every night was severely damaging her hair.

I guess you've forgotten that before Madonna, Cher, Bette Midler, and almost ANYONE who performed live or on TV wore (and still wears) Bob Mackie creations and costumes. Bette Midler also performed in custom bustiers in concert all the time in the 70's. NOt to mention the incredible costumes and one-of-a-kind gowns he designed weekly for Cher and Carol Burnett. In any case, this is Madonna's best concert hands down. Also because every minute of it was sung live. Not one minute of pre-recorded vocal in the whole show.

A legendary, award winning Costume Designer. Gaultier, however, is an Haute Couturier. There is a distinction. Some may say in job title only, but there is a technical difference in the way they're defined...boiling it down to purpose and intent. And that's not to say both gentlemen haven't done both things. I'd even argue that Gaultier has at times been inspired by Mackie in his designs. Both incredibly influential in their own fields, as well as each other's....if that makes sense. Wow!

I remember her f*ck joke. She said "F*ck is not a bad word. F*ok is a good word. If our parents didn't f*ck we all wouldn't be here." This is my favorite Madonna tour.

"Causing A Commotion" is a song from the soundtrack of "Who's That Girl" a movie that she starred in 1987. There is a different version from the 1991 EP "The Holiday Collection" and it sounds slighty different, even the title is "Causin' A Commotion", I love the EP's version! You should listen to both songs! 😍🤩

The instrumental strings at the end of Papa Don't Preach (and right before the Dick Tracy segment) was a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Batman 1989 soundtrack which came out just prior to Dick Tracy movie (that incidentally Prince was part of) were in competition with each other. In turn, Poison Ivy, in the 3rd Batman movie, dances to music remarkably similar to the Middle Eastern LIke a Virgin of this tour.

I have so many audio recordings of this back when I used to trade cassettes with other fans and the quality here is so sharp And I can hear things I hadn't heard before just because the audience is usually screaming their head off but I love that too. Seeing this again reminds me why 31 years later She is still here. She always said she wasn't the best of singers, and Her voice was never the greatest live. But you forgave her for it because of the show. A family friend asked my dad why he was watching a video (yes VHS) of this tour with me. He said because the show itself was so fucking good! My dad got cool points for days right then. He now thinks he "should" have taken me to the London show even though I was eleven!. Not to worry though my mum bought me the SEX book two years later.

She changed the whole way tours were done with this one. It was the highest grossing tour of the year beating out legendary bands. The theatrical elements and the way she weaved a story has been used by every artist after this so a tour is an experience not just someone standing at a mic.

fun fact: she had a and throat infection during this whole tour. my cousin was a huge fan ( so was I and still am) and had bought the documentary on video cassette. It showed her doing anything and everything to save her voice for the performance. she was doing lots of tea with lemon, eating boiled spinach and drinking the liquid, she would communicate by writing or whispering. thats why she had to change few of the songs.

the Blond Ambition the best tour by Madonna.. there is a magical relation with the girls, the dancers and musicians.. everything is perfect.. it looks that Madonna was really having a good time in this concert.. the Blond Ambition is an iconic tour for me.. she was leaving the 80's and starting a new decade with new hits.. I think Blond Ambition and Girlie show were the best tours along the Who's that Girl, Drowned World tour, she was singing live most of the time, of course we can't forget like a virgin tour.

"Causing a Commotion" peaked #02 in Hot 100 back in 1987 for 2 weeks. First blocked by Michael Jackson "Bad" and later by teen pop sensation Tifany "I Think We're Alone Now". "Oh Father" was a single in US, Canada, Australia and selected countries in 1989 (in Europe was released as a 2nd/3rd single from her Ballads Collection "Something To Remember" in 1995/1996). "Oh Father" peaked #20 in US (stopping Madonna string of 16 consecutive TOP 5 Hits in US - still a record!) and #16 in UK. It was #06 in Italy and Finland. Loved your reactions - your face during "Like a Virgin" is priceless!
