It’s incredible that 33 years ago Madonna set the blue print for the modern pop music concert extravaganzas that followed with this tour. Pepsi was the biggest loser for backing out of sponsoring this tour that originally was named the Like A Prayer World Tour. She spared no expense in conceptualizing, planning, organizing, rehearsing to bring together all the artistic elements (staging, art, fashion, choreography, music) to produce this spectacular tour. She even pioneered the use of a hands-free headset microphone that became known as the Madonna Mic that allowed her more movement while singing and dancing. She prepared like an athlete for this tour and every tour hereafter. This was almost 2 hours of 18 hit songs divided into 5 thematic acts of a 4 month tour, 57 shows across 3 continents. She described the “tour’s goal is to break useless taboos” or barriers on sexuality, religion, and freedom of artistic expression-and my gad, by the impact of this tour, she succeeded in her goal. I’m really enjoying watching this tour with you with your joyful and awe-filled reactions. ❤ this Madonna journey. Thank you!

@@OurAnxiousReactionsI usually don’t post long comments, specially of background info on her videos and concerts as I know many ardent, long term Madonna fans here are as knowledgeable and insightful on her artistry. I’ve been trying to turn on my younger nieces and nephews on Madonna and I’ve asked them to follow your channel, your reactions, and fan comments since I find your Madonna journey so enjoyable and reminded me of my own journey of discovery of her artistic genius. My nephews and nieces are averse to history, or to discussing/researching deep insights into stuff they consider old or in the past; they have short attention span (I call them the TikTok generation), they prefer superficial, instant gratification and not have to work or think hard about most things. Some of them believes that Taylor Swift is the greatest pop music artist and concert performer ever. We have some fun (even heated time) debating about our fave pop music artists, but I still luv them. I told them I’ll do the research on and recap my insights on Madonna’s artistry, and post them in your channel. I’m happy to say that so far, one of my nieces (who’s into country music) has become a Madonna fan after I showed her Madonna in cowboy outfit, country style video of Don’t Tell Me from her 2000 Music album-LOL! She was so surprised that Madonna can do really good country music!

I was able to see this tour twice. I actually wasn’t a huge Madonna fan and I was the guest of a friend the first show. I was blown away and became an instant fan after this concert I even traveled to see the show again and have been to every tour since that first experience . I can’t wait to see Celebration in March in LA! When Madonna is in stage you never take your eyes off of her. So so excited to watch this tour again with you . What a great treat I came home to today and saw you posted!!!! Thank you.

The Blond Ambition Tour marked the change in what a live concert should be like from 1990 onwards. It was the prototype. Reviewed with today's eyes, the musical part, the choreography, the costumes, Madonna's futuristic body, every element is conceived as art. It's art.

HBO aired the last show live from Nice France. It was a major event with a pre show lead in by the channel which hyped it all that summer. They ran the recorded version subsequently periodically too. It was such a massive event at the time and I think it’s still the gold standard for live performances. Two hours non-stop , live vocals, stellar choreography, multiple costume changes. No one tops The Queen.

OMG it's here finally! This concert changed my life. I was 17 and this was my first time seeing her live. I was at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago. She was sick and ended up canceling the next show, but man what a performance . I was stunned, moved, shaken, and fell in love with her even more. lol This concert changed the game for pop concerts. It will always have a special place in my heart. I'm excited to see her next year for my 9th tour! You guys are in for the show of your life!

So glad you're reacting to this as you will see nods to this tour in the Celebration tour! I can't wait for you to see the next 'Act' as it is quite simply The gold standard for any pop concert . Revolutionary at the time, combining pop music, dance and theatre, it paved the way for a new type of show, one which has been copied by all the pop idols that have come after her, but never bettered. In my opinion the second half of the show isn't quite as good as 'Act 2' but quite frankly, its hard to maintain or top that kind of perfection. Enjoy 😊

@@OurAnxiousReactionsKZread is flooded with fan-made, smart phone videos of portions (some even of the entire concert) of her Celebration Tour currently in European cities. I’m trying not to watch these spoilers, so my wife and I can enjoy and have some surprises when we watch this tour in the US. Our original tickets for Los Angeles was for last September, but it got cancelled due to her illness. After we got our refund, we had to buy new tickets for the rescheduled dates (and the change of venue) which fell next March. I have my 10-15 all time fave Madonna songs and I’m crossing my fingers she’ll perform some of these.

I wondered whether you would review the Japan tour, or the France tour. One has better vocals, the other has way better camera angles. Her performance in Nice France was the finale of the show, and by that point, everything was perfected. Awesome review ladies, ty. 😁

She did the high pony tail at the beginning of the tour, but they realized the tightness/tension was breaking her hair off so they opted for the curls later. The ponytail shows are good, but they are tame vs the latter where she knows the show like the back of her hand and is comfortable, confident and really SERVES. If you want a treat, watch the last show in Paris.

So excited to see your reaction to this tour and I will say, this first number sounds so good as it is likely all the original recording and she is lip syncing or at best singing along and only the track is audible. I know she does sing a great deal live, which you’ll tell by how imperfect it is, which I prefer. This is the tour, that was the first of it’s kind to merge a concert with theatre and would shape every artists tour after, both male & female. Also, her brother Christopher was the art director for this tour, which is awesome.😊She also really edited her sexual innuendos and swearing for Japan as there is a lot more of both in all the other performances from around the globe.

I'm so used to the Nice show in France, that it's a bit strange for me to see the one in Japan, which looks colder. Since the tour started in Japan, it seems that some situations were not as worked out or developed as I think they were as the tour performances progressed. It's my favorite Madonna tour. Although I know that it does not correspond much to her discography, it would be interesting if you could react to the documentary "Truth or dare" which is about the Blond Ambition tour and everything that happened behind it, it helps a lot to get to know Madonna. Without a doubt this tour is the maximum representation of art and a well-done show. A very interesting aspect of this tour is also that Madonna strengthened ties with her dancers in a way that made them no longer anonymous, such as the inclusion of backup singers Nikki and Donna who complemented Madonna's performances and voice very well. I love their reactions, they are doing a magnificent job and they understand very well and make very accurate analyses. Kisses 😍😍😍

also keep in mind that no artist had ever presented a “theatrical” concert. Madonna set the bar high without knowing it. She transformed the rock concert blueprint. She truly deserves more credit for pioneering such creativity. Thanks to her, artists like Beyoncé & Taylor Swift have executed their concert visions meticulously. she was also the first to film a tour documentary. I remember when it premiered some considered the documentary silly and self absorbed. just look where artists are at now thanks to her ♥️

Although this tour started in Japan, she performed Blonde Ambition in Rome (her first in this city) on July 10, 1990. By this time her feud with the Vatican hierarchy had come to a head. The Pope had harshly condemned and demonized Madonna’s use of religious themes and imagery mixed with sexuality in her music and artistry. This conflict dates back to her 1989 Like A Prayer music video, followed by her 1987 Who’s That Girl Tour in Turin where she dedicated her number Papa Don’t Preach to the Pope after he urged the boycott of her concerts. By this 1990 tour, the Vatican had stepped up its campaign to boycott her concerts in Italy getting the support of Catholic groups and labor unions. When Madonna landed in Rome Ciampino airport on July 9, 1990, she gave a fiery speech that explained in no uncertain terms the core of her artistry and advocacy. Here’s a video link of that speech: kzread.info/dash/bejne/poWY06abgtq-n6Q.htmlsi=lnxTyNew_tcS338d

Thank you so much for sharing that backstory with us. ❤️❤️ It's incredible to really think about the level of backlash she received - Mind blowing, really. And thank you for sharing the link to the speech. ❤️

This one's great, but you should choose Barcelona or Nice (I think Houston and Dallas can be found on yt too), 'cause those shows were later on and everything was much smooter. Japan is opening show so it's a bit less smooth performance 'cause everything was still at the start. Later on the chemistry and the energy between her and the dancers is on much higher level so the performance is on higher level too...

Nice reaction ladies! But once again you chose the wrong version. She is clearly holding back in Japan since that was the start of the tour. The Nice version she has so much energy. Although her voice is better in this versions since this is the start of the tour and Nice is the last show of this world tour

Yeah, but the camera angles, her energy, the editing. Nice, France was the way to go.

The Blond Ambition tour is a landmark tour for all performers who came after due to the spectacular staging and theatricallity. This concert in Paris is better filmed, imv, because you get a better overall view of the stage with Madonna and her background dancers. The energy is also over the top, especially from the audience. It's also the final show of the tour with lots of emotional impact. When she performed this concert in Toronto, I believe, the police threatened to incarcerate her for a very risque performance of Like a Virgin.
