It wasn't created by her... She only sang it, then the producers and studio technicians had a tone of work cleaning up Madonna's voice to make it sound like this. If this song has been sang by a proper female vocalist it would had been epic.

It's crazy how this album is from 1998 but still sounds so modern. It's truly a timeless masterpiece. (Edit) If anyone is interested, somebody filmed madonna singing this song live at her latest tour: Madame X (not the official video from madonna but a fan taken video by Denzel Reyes), along with her daughter dancing in the background and it is, in my opinion, her best performance of this song she has ever done. I highly recommend checking it out if you're like me and can't get enough of this amazing song.

Yea I've never been any kind of Madonna fan for any of her other stuff, but this song has a slightly darker trance type vibe going on and I like it a lot. One of her only songs which I can hear come on and not sigh heavily in disappointment lol.

"If I could melt your heart, we'd never be apart" (I take it as a positive message of helping someone overcoming their "frozen" heart) and "You're broken, when you heart's not open" (another positive message, humans were meant to have an open heart, and it does hurt you when it's not). Today's lyrics would be "Figure your sh!t out on your own, I don't need you, you're a PoS, I don't even need you"

I remember when I spent my childhood time waiting for this song to be aired on the radio. No KZread or social media, but we had the chance to witness such great piece of art. Ironically, I'm Egyptian and during my childhood the only chance to get to listen to Madonna and other great singers was a one hour/weekly European Radio program.. I feel so nostalgic right now.

I’m actually an expert in interpreting Madonna lyrics and productions. I say so because I got funds to conduct an MA thesis on M as the subject. But Live To Tell was one song I can never Figure out. One of the best songs out there! Peaceful, spiritual and eerie at the same time! Has the potential to impact you whenever you listen, especially the first time! I remember discovering it back in 2013 in college - late night alone in my hostel (dorm) room; can never forget that strange feeling. Watched it a few times - goosebumps, a feeling of relief and a strange uneasy feeling that kept me from sleeping!

i found this song yesterday and i am still shocked that i never heard till now... i love madonna and listen to most of her songs... SO WHERE THE HELL DID THIS COME FROM?! its so damn good.

The genius of this video is unmatched. The reverse shots, the transitions, the transformations, the lighting, the vfx, the wardrobe... and this was all in 1998. Hats off to not only Madonna, for an amazing performance, but to Chris Cunningham for an amazing vision.

This was her last great decade,. After 2000 the popular music landscape was gradually shifting towards R&B and HipHop. Madonna's style wasn't really geared for that and her album sales slowly declined.

The whole album Ray of Light is amazing.

This song is still gripping and emotionally devistating. It reminds me of Spunky(also known as C.C.) (1998). What a couple of years, huh?
