Fun fact. This was originally written and recorded by Labi Siffre in 1971. If you're wondering what he looks like, that's Labi Siffre, the violinist who takes his glasses off at the end of the video. Nice touch Madness.
Madness unexpectedly excelled for many years with a diversity & consistently high quality sound. Superb track 🙂 !
Madness , so much about my teenage years ❤
So glad you're reacting to Madness 👍 Their videos in the 80s was always something to look forward to. I hope you don't forget "Driving In My Car" 😊
Una banda que por años que pasen nunca pasaran de moda Me encanta la armonía de los instrumentos musicales Muy buen programa
Got to have a bit of Madness , to stop you going crazy 🤪 . Fantastic
Love Madness! "Shut Up" by Madness is really great and a great video! VERY FUNNY. Love the Nutty Boys! New Subscriber!
This is one of my all time favourites 😍
Would be interesting with your thoughts on more recent Madness material. "Johnny The Horse" tells a sad story against the background of a jaunty tune. Or even something from their current (2024) album. Suggest "Round We Go".
If you notice the violinists in the video, the last one on the right is Labi Siffre, he wrote and had a hit with "It must be Love" and in my opinion on par if not better than this version. Although having said that this version is my wife's and I's "romantic song!"
Great reaction.. So many others to choose from.. A favourite of mine is "My Girl"...
It's one of those songs that sound so innocent and lovely, but as life goes on.. it becomes more painful
This band won't stop till they drop. Prince buster was there first hit in 79 I think. This is a Labie Sifrey song and I think I've spelt it completely wrong, anyway great version back in Dec 81 the world can't carry on with out Madness
Yep ! Cant beat a bit of "Madness "
Probably my brother's favourite band.
You will love in the middle of the night by madness!
Love the reggae vibe here great bass line, check out the original Labi Siffre version when you can guys. (he's in the video here too)
song was out in 1971
Love the Madness cover of Sifre's excellent song. Any chance you could do a comparison of Pulp and William Shatner's versions of "Common People"?
Havent heard this in some time, great stuff. Amazing how many people don't realise its a cover though!

The original Singer Labi Sifri appears in the video as the first string player who smiles at the camera!

@@GP-mw8ce I didnt know that! I also couldn't remember who did the original.
Labi Siffre was in this, he wrote the original as well as the hit "Something Inside So Strong"
If you like 'mad' names then you should try Australia's Mental As Anything especially "If you leave me (Can I come to)?"
This is 'our song' me and my partner. The Madness version is fun but Labi's one always brings a tear to the eye. Lovely.
Love and Death the only true poetic subjects. For me the video and its many references to death makes the tenderness of the love song that much deeper, surely the love that we feel when we put a loved one in the grave is a more considered instance of love than the romantic love most often trotted out for pop songs. just saying 😊

That's fair. Certainly a different way to look at it. But, that would be Madness, wouldn't it.
He did not make the death defying stunt.
Labi Siffre also had a song he wrote in 1975 called I Got The, which Eminem used a sample from as the main riff on his 1998 song My Name Is.
LABBI SIFRE DID ORIGINAL BUT MORE LAID BACK VERSION THAN MADNESS LOL
Yeah good old Labi to make a song so happy about his loved one dying.
I was never a massive madness fan , much preferred The Beat , Selector and the Specials

We're really enjoying them, as well as The Beat, Selecter, and The Specials.
Okaaaaayyy....... so you've heard Madness. You are aware of Madness and yet you're "reacting" to Madness. The whole "reaction" thing is usually a person who is known for being a part of a certain fraternity and get shown a video/song by an artist it's highly unlikely they've seen. Yet here you are "reacting" to a song by a band you're not only aware of but have been a fan of for some years. This makes this just a person watching a favourite video of theirs. So.... what is the point of this??

We don't actually know this song. We knew maybe 3 songs from Madness before we started this channel.

the point is they are entertaining people, including someone like me who has been listening to Madness since late 1979. And, funnily enough, I still see things of theirs on KZread, such as TV appearances from outside the UK that I've never seen before. PS it is a bit rude to be telling someone what their channel ought to be.
Thank you! x
