Fun fact. This was originally written and recorded by Labi Siffre in 1971. If you're wondering what he looks like, that's Labi Siffre, the violinist who takes his glasses off at the end of the video. Nice touch Madness.

Would be interesting with your thoughts on more recent Madness material. "Johnny The Horse" tells a sad story against the background of a jaunty tune. Or even something from their current (2024) album. Suggest "Round We Go".

If you notice the violinists in the video, the last one on the right is Labi Siffre, he wrote and had a hit with "It must be Love" and in my opinion on par if not better than this version. Although having said that this version is my wife's and I's "romantic song!"

This band won't stop till they drop. Prince buster was there first hit in 79 I think. This is a Labie Sifrey song and I think I've spelt it completely wrong, anyway great version back in Dec 81 the world can't carry on with out Madness

Love the Madness cover of Sifre's excellent song. Any chance you could do a comparison of Pulp and William Shatner's versions of "Common People"?

Love and Death the only true poetic subjects. For me the video and its many references to death makes the tenderness of the love song that much deeper, surely the love that we feel when we put a loved one in the grave is a more considered instance of love than the romantic love most often trotted out for pop songs. just saying 😊

Labi Siffre also had a song he wrote in 1975 called I Got The, which Eminem used a sample from as the main riff on his 1998 song My Name Is.

Okaaaaayyy....... so you've heard Madness. You are aware of Madness and yet you're "reacting" to Madness. The whole "reaction" thing is usually a person who is known for being a part of a certain fraternity and get shown a video/song by an artist it's highly unlikely they've seen. Yet here you are "reacting" to a song by a band you're not only aware of but have been a fan of for some years. This makes this just a person watching a favourite video of theirs. So.... what is the point of this??

the point is they are entertaining people, including someone like me who has been listening to Madness since late 1979. And, funnily enough, I still see things of theirs on KZread, such as TV appearances from outside the UK that I've never seen before. PS it is a bit rude to be telling someone what their channel ought to be.
