I almost walked out of _Origin_ since the first half-hour was so mind-numbingly bad. I was alone in the theater so decided to look up something on my phone until it got to something that appealed to me from the trailer. And the ending was pretty good.

@@ShayneRawlsbut they did make them … it’s their IP, their rights, so it is there’s. Marvel didn’t just take the rights away & make these movies without their permission. That’s like if I was Stanley Kubrick & made The Shinning & said “well that’s my movie, not Warner bros.” … no, Warner bros. Produced & distributed it… therefore it’s their IP & their movie just as much as Hanna Barbara’s animated stuff are, like Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo & so on. If it’s from your company, then it become’s that company’s possessions. So sony did make those, they may have worked with marvel studios/Disney but they still did make those, making it theirs.

It isn't. It's the origin of the Spiderverse. Kraven is the second movie of this soap opera which I believe will have four movies. I didn't even know this story arc existed until Madame Webb was announced, but it's a long arc.

@@jayjinx2591 I was surprised to see women going to see _Aquaman 2,_ without guys. One lady said it was for "Mamoa's muscles." So right there, by having only women characters, they're not appealing to the female gaze. Second, these make me wonder what real women would do with super powers? Maybe lay low and not call attention to themselves? It seems like they do best in a team-environment, helping the men. That sounds bad, but seems to be reality, if we're not going to make them appeal to the male gaze.

I think the most mind boggling part is that sony has such a clear path before them. DC is non existent at the moment, and the MCU needs to space out it's releases. This "Spider Verse" should be a clear win. Focus on movies of the spider people that people gravitated to in Miles' Spider Verse movies. No Kraven, no Morbius, no Madam Web solo movies. The blue print couldn't be any clearer if it tried.

Ditto on no solo movies for the back characters without Spider-Man (or a major Spider-Woman). I just saw _Turning Red_ yesterday on its re-release (if it even got a release during the pandemic) and it featured an animated short at the beginning (same as _Migration)._ After reading your comment, I could imagine a 10-minute short of Spider-Man-Noir or Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham.

I feel sorry for Adam Scott, the man cannot catch a break on the big screen. Just glad he had that recent success with Severance.

This begs the question, why isn’t Sony making movies starring/ featuring spider people like spider woman, ghost spider, etc. that then could be merged with a Spider-Man movie in the future? Like they have three spider people that could have a standalone movie focused on a c or d list villain but given some “the spot” treatment and make them interesting/ threatening. They have characters that are known/ compelling/ liked other than Peter Parker so make movies around them.

I'm considering that's their intent, destroying the brand (Spider-Man) when they have to give it back, given they lack the critical merchandise profit, and destroying the genre (superhero, and hurting rival companies) so they have an early start on the rising video game adaptations with PlayStation Studios and even snatching huge IPs like Zelda.

I think we didn’t watch the same movie because I’ve just come from the cinema and everyone there LOVED it. I went thinking that it was going to be a bad movie because of the low Critic score on Rotten Tomatoes but it wasn’t the case. The story was great, the acting was great. I can say I enjoyed it much more than any of the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. I’m glad it keeps rising on the audience score.

This year is off to roaring start 😂😂

I personally disagree, these could be great if they had good scripts, Gotham the television show was mostly a very entertaining show and never needed Batman but i think the general public dont care but a lot of Spiderman fans need Spidey in these..They mostly say on the socials that they should give over rights to Disney but now fans constantly mock McU content so whats the difference...

Grace, have to say that I usually go to see this comic movies either for commitment (MCU universe) to see what they come up without expecting much or to inquire how bad and ridiculous they are going to be. Few are the comic inspired movies that actually make me feel excited or manage the suspended disbelief of reality and make me immerse myself on the movie setting. What happened to you in Madam Web about sleeping happened to me in Morbious, so I'm quite curious about how bad this is going to be 😅
