It's basically showing how her mother's brainwashing with the cult's beliefs win over her traumatic experience and the horrors she's been exposed to The only thing is that her dad instilled se kind of respect for the dead and tried to not make her into this monster like he is - Aya doesn't torture her patients, but seems to only kill them painlessly when she realizes they are too unwell and will never recover The cult thing is hinted at throughout the game, mostly in the blood run-through, where the mother's diaries reveal that the mother is happy with her daughter turning out like her dad The cult explains why the demon Ogre is at the mansion, the mother's curse and many rooms have a religious aesthetic, which is mostly coming from the mother's grandfather

I guess we'll never know
What I noticed even in older versions was the mom wanting Aya to turn out like her dad - second playthroughs showed diaries that showed how much the mom was happy that Aya was like her dad and the dad being horrified of the thought of Aya becoming like him, hence why he wanted to turn her into a doll so she couldn't hurt anyone Now with the cult angle thrown in, it's even more easy to understand - why a demon shows up throughout the story, what the mother's deal was - even those small hints with those spell books where one is talking about having a little baby boy; the mother wanted a successor for her grandfather's work and cult, indicating that the whole puppet making is from the family of Monika, not from the dad himself Monika writes letters to psychopaths in prison and enjoys the thrill when she almost gets killed and falls in love with the psychotic Alfred - taking him in and combining his desire to see dead people's face forever through making them into dolls She's trying to have a boy, but Aya turns out as a girl - but even then, the mother tries to brainwash her with the cult's beliefs. Meanwhile Aya's dad tries to keep her away from it and to respect and show remorse and emotion for dead things The hint of the doll work being from the great grandpa is through the diary in the library where grandpa talks about his discovery of keeping dead bodies alive - originally thought to be from the dad is disproven now with the second page talking about the cult's decline In the end, both sides won - Aya's dad managed to give her enough respect and also cause her to not kill people horribly - instead she concludes whether their condition will improve or not and in the later case, kills them in a more peaceful way so they don't feel pain and don't have to die of their illness But sadly the cult wins as well because Aya still continues on with the work of it, crafting dolls out of her victims

Considering the whole point of Misao is that the high school gets thrown into another world and there are tons of references to Mad Father, I think its more than a coincidence. Take the room connected to the library, and the familiar "picture of a beautiful woman", red hair bow, and the parody book of one that was on Aya's bookshelf. Timeline wise it doesn't make much sense for Aya to be a teenager and also either dead or somehow traveling through time for Misao to be considered canon for Mad Father but it's 100% not a coincidence

Something that I wondered about until I saw her grown up, is why Aya was so calm around everything. Sure she got scared, but she seemed fine picking up items off of bodies, and such. I thought it was weird, but ultimately dismissed it, because it's a game, and we need to do this to progress. Then I saw the end, and it all clicked. She is no different from her father. A born psycho, with little to no empathy. That's why she was so calm around dead bodies, around all the blood.

I really think the 2nd theory is true. She said "we" promised. She could be talking about how Monica promised she would always love her father, and she had Aya promise too. She might be get patients who she doesn't know how to help, those are the ones who she turns to dolls. Figuring if she can't cure what ails them, at least they'll be okay in full form. Potentially, if this is a sci-fi kind of thing, she may be using it as a sort of cryogenic stasis & is working in how to bring that person back from doll parts? Total left field theory, but that'd be cool. Like if she had dolls of the people she encountered on her journey through the house, and is just waiting to find the right method to help them regain life.

Mad Father and Corpse Party formed the basis for my love of psychological + horror-based games.

I adore the ending! I love that she becomes evil, but in a different way. She becomes an angel of death. It feels real, it feels like it makes sense, and I just love that in writing. The twisted love and how everyone is somewhat or VERY evil is fascinating. No one is entirely good. I'm probably the only one excited about this.
Aya's death scream has been ingrained somewhere in the back of my brain from how much I kept dying in that game----
I remember playing the game and getting to the end thinking Aya became a better version of the father like being an actual helpful doctor like AYA WE WAS ALL ROUTING FOR YOU WHATSHAJA
Wasn’t there a whole scene at the end of the original game where Aya picks up and takes a book from outside the burning mansion?

It’s there in the remake too, in the good ending If you’re crazy and remember everything, you’ll notice it’s the anatomy (I think, the title is in German) textbook her father read all the time, the one with the gruesome pictures she commented on. That’s probably how she started learning how to follow her father’s footsteps

@@omori3703 That Anatomy Book was the whole reason why Aya became like her father, I just have one question if she never found the anatomy book while she was leaving the mansion Aya would've never became like her father right ?

this is really amazing! i just have one thing to say though, surely enis/inis/the girl who was tricked as aya’s older “sister” is the girl hanging as the disgrace of the drevis family? i think it would make sense given it looks just like her and she was “”family””

Uuu i didnt even know that mad father has gotten a design overhaul. The new design of the game and of the character pictures are really cool. Amd the new dlcs? Gotta watch what those are about as well :D
Just found you yesterday keep up da good work 👍🏾🤟🏾
YOOOOO babe, wake up. another video from GamerSault Explained series just dropped.
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT PART YOU ARE SO GOOD AT THIS!
This story is so cool I use to love it so much and this reminds me of LaurenZside's gameplay where she kept saying the blonde boy was her (or rather Aya's) boyfriend 😂
Thank you for this wonderful video :D
To this Day I still wonder at what exact moment did her Empathy die. Was she never born with it? Had it been gone before even the start of the game when we met her?, or did helping and watching all her fathers experiments desensitize her so completly to the feelings of empathy and compassion she was never able to feel them again. Where did the road shift, what moment did she begin to follow in her fathers footsteps after everything she saw or perhaps even before it. Its something I still think about when I remember this game.

Why did I say this
I have a chronic illness and in a very twisted way, I also wish I could end my suffering like that. My mind is super twisted, and maybe that's why I adore horror. It allows my mind to let out my dark side without harming anyone, myself included.
I simply can't believe how he filmed, edited and uploaded these three great videos in THREE DAYS... The quality is amazing and his story telling skills are... Breathtaking.... 😳👍Great job
I’m glad you made the Dio joke lmao
Sen's games in story making is so good i wished they made more!
Your voice is so calming, yet soft, its always nice to hear you explain the game that i dont even know :D
i recommend corpse party, its an awesome horror game with so many endings
Watching let's plays of this game is what got me into horror! It holds a big place in my heart because of that!! ❤
This is my childhood right here
I've watched your videos on Mad Father a couple of months ago and last week I finally gave in and played the whole game. Gotta say, you truly are a grate salesman 😊
Oh my days that's so twisted...I was not expecting that ending

I was 12 maybe 13 when I played Mad father and now i'm almost 20, time fly so fast man
It’s sad she ended up like her father
Thank you for making this, recently played the game myself and was a bit confused on the ending!
Thank you R for this amazing explanation!!! 🖤
This was the game that scarred me. I’m honestly honored.
Everytime I heard how Aya loves her father after allat, I was like girl, you're becoming more fcked up than him
I enjoy mad father since it was my first game that brought me interest into horror rpg games and I personally liked at the moral conflicts in this game and especially at how (to me atleast) shows just how young Aya is.
I'm not sure if I'm here for the theory or his voice at this point 😌 (Y'all can tell I listen to ASMR 😏)
Mad father as a story creeps me out, like why would the mom and daughter just turn a blind eye to everything the father did, no sane person would be ok with this
I interpret the ending in that Aya is left with both promises . She found a middle ground . not a pretty one, but she made promises that conflict with each other. She still doies what her father did, but without making others suffer, picks people who suffer, and ends their suffering, However, doing so without even knowing if thats what their patients want, becoming similar to her father, but for a completetly different reason, while the father reveled in pain an suffering, Aya kills people for the opposite reason, to end their suffering and pain.
You just have to do the Witch’s House!!! Mad Father, Witch’s House and Ib were my favorite let’s plays to watch when I was younger!!!
I feel like I’m 14 again
That one person who clicked thumb down is unhappy about everything idc
I adore this game so I’ll be honest here when I say I had *_NO IDEA_* this was what the ending was truly about. I never flipping knew Aya was actually gonna do what her father had done. I thought she actually was becoming a better persn and doctor than her father, wanting to actually help people and make them better. It’s sad how I never understood the ending cause now I do and it makes me so dang heartbroken. To know she broke her promise and has become what she never wanted to be.
Amazing video, very interesting :)
