Chef John - I don't usually post comments on any website but I made this for a dinner party I hosted this evening. I'm not a novice yet but with this you made me look so good! The compliments were non-stop. From the time I pulled it out of the oven and the way it looked and smelled to when the last guest left - honestly they couldn't say enough. One said they've never had M&C dish served that wasn't dry. Using panko crumbs - yeah that was sweet; way, way better than anything I've ever been served myself. Thank you for breaking this down step by step. Your running commentary was so helpful too. I can't tell you how many times I watched this to make sure I have this down. I don't think I'll ever feel intimidated in my own kitchen again so thank you once again. And I just had to subscribe as well.

This is going to be a comment you'll never read. But I just found out my cousin, who is like an older sister to me, has got COVID19. But I cannot do anything for her. But I can rely on you. I can make mac n cheese. It's stupid. But it means I don't have to go to the supermarket. I don't need fancy equipment. I can try to get to 2021 just by relying on you and others for finding what I need to eat in my pantry. Thank you very much. Happy New Year, Chef John!

Fun fact: Jefferson was very particular about his macaroni and cheese. And in fact, he absolutely insisted on importing parmesan cheese from Italy and macaroni from France for this dish.

This was a very good recipe. I used the 12 oz pasta version and I accidentally added apple wood smoked bacon to the mix as well. My family all agreed it was some of the best mac we'd ever had. Gracias Chef!

We had this for dinner and it was really good! Mac and cheese is not a very common dish in the Netherlands and we never had it before. But I'm sure making this again 😊

The sauce is basically a besciamella sauce+cheese, I use it in lasagna too, it's perfect for balancing out a spicy meat/tomato sauce. I love this channel.

I found an old cheese in my fridge. It hasn't spoiled yet. So I used it in my Mac and cheese without knowing what typeof cheese im eating but it turned out all right.
