Hello There Friends, after exploring KZread and seeing the other Mac and Cheese recipes out there, I decided to make my Mac and Cheese which I think will make you absolutely fall in love. Everything in cooking is simple, and can be made by anybody, so easy in fact a child could do it! So watch the video and let me know what you think in the comments!

Made this and it was definitely the best I've had. The only things I can't stress enough are the importance of cooking the roux long enough with just enough heat to make it barley bubble.. Not even going to try to imitate chefs interpretation of the correct bubbling.....LOL... And also letting the cheese melt long enough unless you have an immersion blender. Years ago I attempted a similar recipe and it came out gritty. After watching this video I understood why. Thanks again chef your recipes are authentic, amazing, and truly attainable with modest cooking skills. P.s. chef, correct me if I'm wrong but the way to tell if your roux is almost ready, as you stir it, it will start to leave a white film on the bottom of the pan...

That is correct about the roux and also it should slightly turn into a "pale sandy fawn" color not enough to interfere with the "white" look we are looking for and final product! 😍

@@ChefJeanPierre sorry I almost forgot the part about heating the milk. Adding cold milk to the roux would also cause the sauce to be grainy.

He IS A PROFESSIONAL CHEF. He just isn't working in restaurants any longer. The situation we are in changed his life for the better. He had restaurants, then a cooking school. When everything thing was CLOSED UP DUE TO MANDATES, he got smart and went to youtube and made a new online profession for himself! Great Chef!

I've been making this "French" style of Mac-n-Cheese for many years. Nothing touches it (especially the lobster version)! Merci, Chef!
Finally someone who doesn't stir in the liquid into the roux half a cup at a time, many people don't understand how the roux works the flour is coated in butter making it difficult to form lumps the whisk just helps mix something viscous into something thin.
"there is a lot of crap out there" Chef Jean Pierre. That one just made my day!
I made this for my son and his 18 year old friends, thinking it would be too complex for their palette. Well now I’ve made it like 4 times for them and they said it’s the most AMAZING, macaroni and cheese they have ever had. Thanks Chef for the years of experience and passion you are sharing with us.

I made this for Thanksgiving today. I didn't have gruyere cheese, so I substituted pecorino romano for half of the gruyere and used a little extra cheddar for the other half. I am afraid this side dish upstaged the main dish. It was mac and cheese, not turkey, everyone was reaching for when it was time for seconds. Chef Jean-Pierre I wish you a happy, healthy, and gratifying Thanksgiving. One of the things i am grateful for this year is your channel. I've been cooking for 40 years, but you have leveled me up. Everyone is noticing the improvement in my food! Thank you Chef! Keep it up! You've now got the best cooking show on KZread!
As a bachelor who has friends over for movie-nights, this Mac-n-cheese is the center piece to to all the cheesy films we watch. Love it.

Chef Jean Pierre teaches without you even realizing you're being taught. "This is a classical béchamel, then we're gunna add cheese to it and so then it becomes a mornay sauce." Meanwhile, you are not only learning how to make the most fabulous mac and cheese you've ever had, but you're learning some of the most basic techniques of nummy cooking along the way.
He is fun to watch! I love his energy, humor and intensity! I wish I had more people in my life like him.

Love the selection of cheeses and I like your estimate of a "little butter".
This spring I was heartbroken with the implosion of the BA Test Kitchen. I felt like I had lost a home and now was wandering through KZread on the prowl for a new home. The other day, KZread brought Christmas in September. They introduced me to Chef JP. He is a cast of characters and needs no supporting members. For example in this episode, I swear heard Sgt Sholtz from Hogan's Heros as he was speaking about the lack of flavor from that 20-year-old tin of nutmeg. There is a whole bunch of personality and a little flair and I'm confident with four recipes down that I can successfully make each one. That's a great teacher. Chef JP raises the bar, our skills and entertains all in one! Thanks Boss!

Just got off work, pretty hungry right now. And I just went and done watch this video. What a way to torture myself. Nicely done Chef Pierre. Will try this dish. Looks really good.
My mother used to make the best Mac. And before she’d put it in the oven she’d cut up some hot dogs and mix then in with the Mac. We’d hose the whole thing down with ketchup while eating it. Since then I’ve refined her recipe somewhat.
I don't cook the recipes 50% of the time, instead I just listen, watch and relax. Thank you for the content, Chef J-P!

The little jiggle the mac n cheese does gets me every time.

You can have Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. That is not a craft. Chef jean-Pierre is a craftman in the cuisine. Oh boy, look at what he can do in the kitchen. I put my nose down on the USB port of my computer when he took that out of the oven, the smell was wonderful. I just hope he joins with USB Wine Tap. That would be magnifique.

Chef, I'm a member of a German Club. We cook something each Friday. Last Friday two ladies cook Lobster mac-cheese. It was very good. But! Very tight cheese. I love mine creamy. The next day I made them watch this Mac-cheese process. Yes! I sat them down and not let them talk and watch it. They're the type that likes to talk during shows. But I wouldn't have it. I really didn't make them, but they loved your way.
At 7:45 he hit that white sauce with the black pepper and at 8:02 you can hear the "recipe police" pulling up! 😂 Love your videos Chef!

He brought out the immersion blender and I got super excited lol I recently added one of those to my kitchen at work and I'll tell you: BEST THING I EVER DID. I absolutely love it.

In these difficult times it is always nice to have a channel that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Oh, and it goes without saying that i really need to make this Mac & Cheese soon! It looks simply delicious 😋

I was YELLING at the screen - "Where's the NUTMEG!" and finally you brought it out! Perfect. Freshly grated cheese is best - that stuff in the bag is not nearly as nice. Oooh, lobster is a great idea. We don't do breadcrumbs - just the parm/reg - it gets crispy and lovely while the other cheese stays soft and creamy. Oooh baby. This is beautiful.
When Chef Jean-Pierre say "friends", I automatically hit the like button
brrrilliant re. cooling the brie and then with a vegetable peeler! I was laughing so hard!
Chef, I have watched every single one of your videos and I'm finally ready to give a recipe a try. My fiance requested the mac and cheese, so tonight that's what we're having. @@ChefJeanPierre it tasted a bit tangy maybe too much cheese so I fixed it by adding more Mac to it and seasoned it using oregano and it was fine next time I try mozzarella cheese 😅

I love this gentleman’s videos! I just spent 2 hours watching his videos for the 1st time. His personality and passion really brings out the fun in these videos. Great sense of humor and I can’t wait to try some of these recipes!! Will def send my future wife to his classes!
