I have an old Lyman 55 that my dad used for fifty years or so. I learned to reload with it about 1970, and have used it since it came into my possession a couple of years ago. It is well-used and has missing pieces. Very accurate with pistol powders and serviceable for rifle.

Mine has the date 8/87 on it. Yours is older than mine but very similar. Still works great after 36 years.

I use mine exclusively for black powder. Somewhere along the line, someone claimed the plastic reservoir can spark and set off black powder but that's really a load of crap, people have tried setting off black powder with stun guns to no effect, the reservoir won't. Anyways, it meters black powder perfectly, the readings are in volume and will throw a perfect charge. You set it to 70gr, you'll get a near perfect throw every time. Usually 2 tenths deviation and as black powder goes, that's perfect. You won't notice that over the chronograph. Makes for charging casings uniform and efficient.

The Lyman 55 is one of the great measures. It was an improvement on the Ideal No. 5 and came out after WWII in 1947

Your Lyman 55 is late 50s early 60s vintage. My buddy has one he purchased in 1962 - exactly the same model as yours.

I have an old Lyman Spartan press and a new TMag 2.I've been looking at a vintage 55 with same box. i love old stuff like this. my question is how accurate does it throw. btw I dig you intro and outro music. love harmonica.

I own 4 of these. They all throw +/- 0.1 grain. I don't use long, extruded powders, so I can't speak to its accuracy with those. Using Benchmark powder, these things are pretty amazing. Same for 'Lil Gun powder which I use for 22 Hornet. I've been setting them up 0.2 grains low, then trickle up to the target. No complaints!

Your intro music is irritatingly loud and your actual video is so quiet I can't even understand what you are saying...
