Lure fishing for Pollack & Mackerel from the rocks | Sea Fishing UK
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
An excellent day lure fishing from the rocks. Catching Mackerel and my personal best Pollack so far this year.
In this video I show you how to fish a metal lure from the rocks using the count down technique to catch pollock and mackerel.
I kept the pollock for the pan and shallow pan fried it to have with chips and mushy peas a classic English dish.
The lure I was fishing with was a 60g Razorclaw Silver Minnow.

Where did you buy fishing gears cos the one I bought I used it once it was all rubbish and it was broken
Great video. Shame you didn't have another light spinning rod with you already rigged up with a medium sized dexter/ish wedge. It is great to have the weight to cast long but with the bait fish and smaller mackerel being pushed in it was just begging for a lighter lure to work the water under that feeding frenzy.
What lb braid was you using?
I envy you being local to the rocks. Have you tried using a teaser lure ? Excellent Pollock, thanks for sharing.

how do you avoid snags in those areas whilst using metal lures with trebles?????
@fishingintheukgarywood

I use the countdown method when fishing the lure so I can fish near the bottom but not get snagged on the bottom. It works most of the time but there's always a risk of getting snagged fishing over heavy ground.
Cracking Pollack Gary! Is it worth fishing there at low tide, or is it too snaggy at low?
@fishingintheukgarywood
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary, its worth a try. its not very deep over low but the snaggy ground gives way to clear sand with a decent cast you can reach it.

Heyup mate, does this stretch of rocky coast between Trow Quarry car park and Marsden Bay fish best on lures at high tide? I went there just after low tide yesterday and it seemed a bit sketchy to get down close enough to the sea (I believe I went from Trow Quarry to just past Frenchmans Bay)

@@fishingintheukgarywood Nice one mate, makes sense. I saw some pretty nice looking big flat rock platforms, gonna try on those next time I'm there!
Was on that spot on Saturday. Got a few mackerel and a coley. 7ft rod and 28g razorclaw with single hook instead of treble. Was hitting the mackerel on the drop near the bottom. Great fun. Think I would’ve had a heart attack if I'd hooked that pollack.
@fishingintheukgarywood

I usually take the lighter rod and 28g but for some reason decided to take the heavier rod and spinners, glad I did now think I would have struggled to get it in with the lighter rod but it would have been an excellent fight.
