Catch and Cook UK - mackerel from the shore.
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I catch and cook mackerel from the shore from one of my local rock fishing marks in North East England. Using mackerel lures on a beach caster fishing rod paired with a fixed spool reel. You cant get any fresher than cooking mackerel straight from the sea with a taste that is hard to beat it makes fishing for your supper all the more better.

So do you bleed the mackerel after catching or not?
@fishingintheukgarywood
7 жыл бұрын
If i was taking them home to eat i would gut and bleed them soon as i caught them and keep them in a cooler box out of the sun but because i was cooking it straight away for this video and it was just caught i didn't.
I'd love to live near the sea
nice one but what ! no chips ? thanks for bringing us along .Ant from Wales .

Great video Gary. You have some great locations to do your fishing from. Could you put a National Grid Reference in the comments. Or would you add a tag to Google Maps and take a screen shot and put it at the front of the videos. I would, and I imagine many others would really appreciate it.
@fishingintheukgarywood

After filleting you should hold a light under the fillet to “candel" it for worm parasites
@Masterfighterx
5 жыл бұрын
hard to even avoid it, but if you cook it, no worries.
feel hungry
skin side and about 2mill deep 4 to 5 will do /////
Put a score down the middle (not skin side) and it cooks so much better
where was this? I need a good place in the north east like hartlepool or south Shields. sad to see roker pier shut off. they said it could take a year to fix it 😧

This was at frenchmans bay in south Shields. Aye roker pier is going to be shut a while. They have been catching mackerel just along from the pier at the rat house as well.

Asking because wanted to fish for some mackerel and not sure what lead size to use. I would ha to use one of my beachcasters.
@fishingintheukgarywood
4 жыл бұрын
If your using your beach caster and using your normal weights that your rod is rated for check the breaking strain of the mackerel feathers sometimes the line on them isn't very strong and casting 5oz lead with the makerel feathers could snap the line during the cast. The rule of thumb is 1oz of lead for ever 10lb breaking strain. So if the main line on the mackerel feathers is 30lb line then a 3oz weight would be ideal.
