- I like them and have no reason to change. They are simple and effective and its one less component on your rig. So one less thing lost if you come snagged and snap off. ;)

Cant leave once the fish start feeding. You got a nice feed, I pretty much gave up on the shore fishing, to much wind and rain and now the shore fishing goes quiet here .

Feeling I was more difficult than he when I was a kid.😊 He’s gone now; time to get out my rod and tackle box. Dad taught me all I needed to know about fishing; my favorite part is cleaning the fish. Great session John! Good to see you back on the shore. I love it when you start dancing - you were always good at the 'Conga' !! ;-) Some lovely Whiting there too. They will make a nice little feast! Fillet them off, dip in Mayo thinned with a little water, and coat them in Lemon & Black Pepper breadcrumbs from Morrisons! (Other supermarkets are available!)

The Fish Locker Yeah the boats my favourite, I’m working on it now, should be going back down first week of April ,I do a bit of spinning for bass off the shore but not botttom baits, I should get a couple of shore rods and do a bit.

I have to admit, I am having issues with strap Conger too. A beach in Devon I fish, I keep getting strap Conger instead of the target Small Eyed.

Great video John. Was wondering what type of winter you were having. In the central part of the United States, where I live, we have had a very mild winter, with less than 1" of snow. Out trout season is going great, and have enjoyed visiting the local streams with warmer weather. Thanks for getting out in the cold and sharing your adventure, your tackle, and your catch. Enjoy my favorite salt water fish . . . Whiting. My wife is from Spain and her mother used to fix me fried Merluza (Whiting) She used to cut the fish in about 1/2 inch thick "horse shoes." Only had the three prong back bone to worry about.

- Ah I see, she just cut them into steaks. Yeah I filleted them and shallow fried them. The winter here up until about 2 weeks ago had been very mild then we have had a couple of bitter cold snaps down to -6 degrees. But generally on a whole its been mild.

Don't use braid but,, nice reel. Good vid as ever. 👍Tight lines.

Trampster - Fair enough mate. If it works for you. 👍🏻 wind knots can be a result of an overfilled spool or slack line on the spool. I know you know this, more for anyone reading the comments. 😉🎣

Yep, I've learnt that the locals are right. Shore fishing here is gash! That Shetland is called the rock for a reason and even 30lb line is nothing vs those rocky ledges & bottoms that are EVERYWHERE that's accessible enough for me! That I'm rubbish at handling a good fish and when they put up a fight and dive I either pop them off with too much pressure playing too hard and if I give them enough drag and play the slow game they'll find somewhere to bury and snap me off! 🤣😂🤣

Hi a nice video and at least you caught. Those whiting are a lot bigger than most of the skinny things I catch on the south coast. I just wish I could get to the coast more but it’s a 2 hr drive to the nearest beach. Regards Bill

I was in there all by myself in a tiny concrete cell for 3 month’s and I’m so lucky I’m here on your channel watching my favorite thing in the world besides riding my motorcycle. Aquaholic H20 - Theres a short how to vid on the Fishlocker workshop 😉👍🏻 They’re pretty simple and are great because they don’t have to be a specific length. Varying length hooklengths all work. 😉

I fished new Brighton beach on the Wirral 2 nights ago 7 small whiting and 5 small flattys never seems to be anything big out of the Mersey but it's always nice to wet a line good video keep them coming mate

The Fish Locker I have heard of good fish there was a 9.6 pound thorn back last week by all accounts but I mean for me personally never anything big I am a carp angler myself but do the Mersey with a friend every now and then

Eels are good pan fried in Butter ,Garlic , lemon zest and flamed in White Wine as for the whiting ... I would stuff then wrap and then bake them whole head included After descaling removing fins .... Method score each side rub with seasoning [ Sea salt and cracked Black Pepper .. and garlic puree , Filling - Sliced Mushrooms, Spring onions , Peppers ,Fresh Dill , Sliced Shallots , seasoning ,,,Sweat off in a pan prior to filling the fish .. then fill the belly .. then layer out smoked bacon whole or streaky on Parchment paper [ Grease proof paper/non stick Baking paper ] place the stuffed fish on the bacon then wrap fold over the parchment paer then place on a sheet of tin foil wrap up then cook in the oven for about 20mins that's been pre heated , gas mrk 6 ..... Served with Sauted Baby new potatoes , ... and white wine cream sauce [ if desired ] ,, NOM NOM NOM NOM ......

As usual I really enjoyed your vid John. Whiting is a fish I've never tried , will have to get down to the fishmonger to give it a go. Perhaps Mrs. Fish Locker can do a vid on cooking it. All the best Phil, Manchester.

What breaking strain braid do you have on your spin fishers? Have you used backing or just used a 300yard spool of braid with a shock leader?
