Andre rounding 3rd and losing his helmet as the camera shakes from upper deck fans' stomping is one of the most exciting baseball moments I ever witnessed.

This was the turning point for the Cubs. At that point, the Cardinals had crept to within a half game of the Cubs. Big win for the Cubs.

Dawson had a lot of great moments as a Cub but getting that walk ahead of Salazar’s game winning hit might have been his most important plate appearance as a Cub. I remember that game so vividly. I was 13 years old and I kept screaming “Run Dawson! Run Dawson!” Then screaming “Cubs Win! Cubs Win!” I got emotional watching Dawson and Dunston embrace. Ryno wrote in his autobiography that Dunston kept Hawk young while Hawk helped Dunston grow up.

Watching Andre Dawson run looks painful and I feel bad for his knees considering he had such bad knee problems back in 1989 and after. He was a great player and such a tough dude!

I nervously and tensely watched this game as a 15 soo. The be 16 year old in just under a month back in 1989. One of the most dramatic and exciting wins in Cubs history. Cubs had a big and early lead on the Cardinals the previous day in Friday. But Terry Pendleton and Pedro Guerrero slammed the Cubs and won 11-8. That cut the Cubs lead to 1/2 games. But Rick Sutcliffe stepped up and pitched one of his most gutsy and solid games of the season going 7 innings. And the video tells the rest and the Cubs didn't look back for the rest of the 1989 regular season.

This ‘89 team was my second favorite Cub team behind, of course, the 2016 team. Most of my favorite all-time Cubbies are on this team: Greg Maddux, Andre Dawson, Ryne Sandberg, and the “wild thing” Mitch Williams.

At 1:07, I think I saw a rookie named Girardi. And, I miss the days when there was no last on the back of the home uniforms. I hope they go back to that tradition.

Only the Yankees can do that because they win. But I do like to see variances of nameplates concerning size and where they are placed. One size doesn’t fit all.
