The most fabulous Lucinda Williams. This is a song about Blaze Foley, the great songwriter. Blaze died young, stepping in front of a bullet meant for his friend. My girlfriend shared a flat for a time with Lucinda Williams when they were both in their 20s (in the late 60s) in New Orleans. She said Lucinda would sing and play guitar at a local New Orleans cafe. Just starting out and writing her own songs. I saw Lucinda and Buick Six in Bellingham, WA a few years back. I gave her my 50s electric Harmony Espanada guitar that I thought she could play while writing her next phenomenal song. She really helped me when I was really hurting. Playing my guitar to her voice and songs. Thanks Lucinda.

I think Lucinda is primarily a Poet. I note that although she is comfortable singing IN FRONT of an audience, she is not singing TO the audience. She doesn't attempt to engage the audience with her personality. She sometimes even stops playing and rests her hands on her guitar because she just wants to get those words out. Words that can break your heart if you listen to them.

Sharon Ramsey - it’s called Car Wheels on a Gravel Road from 1998. It’s a superb album all the way through
Such a piece of Art Thankyou so much.
God, i love this song, and not just because i grew up in East Texas in the 50's/60's and made that trip dozens of times. The song chokes me up.

One of my favourite songs from Lucinda, Just saw her a couple of nights ago here in Bristol. She was great - a really lovely lady with a knockout voice & really memorable songs...

Stunning. Momento mori.
Heartfelt song. Damn good. Thanks Lucinda!
Love her❤️
Years and years ago I bought a few CDs and got a sampler cassette from Rough Trade records with a bunch of punk rock on it - and Passionate Kisses! The next day I went back and they had "Lucinda Williams" on the rack so I bought that. My lucky day.
Gravel road. I listen to that shit all day long. Come to the Canadian prairies
Great band… Kenny Vaughn a legend.
Love this!
Lucinda e quel suo lento fantastico dondolio....ci culla e ci fa chiudere gli occhi
Prayers and thoughts to the people of Lake Charles and all those in the path of the hurricane
Drummer nailing it too
After seeing this amazing band i was disappointed in the three piece band with her a few years ago when I saw her. This is her finest live recording.
Beautiful, thank you.
🙂reminds me of a storm that put our ferris wheel on top of a pickup. Front page news back then
I do like accordions.
Every time I listen to this, and its fairly often, I wonder if there is some connection between this beautiful song and "Sweet old World" Anybody know?

That accordion player is Greg Husted aka Atticus Finch. He’s an old friend of mine and the best musician I’ve ever known. Lucinda fired him because she was intimidated by his talent. He’s one of the best Hammond B3 players in the business. Rock on Atticus my berm brother!
Absalutely beautyful Great band also. Anyone know what year this was? Lucinda is amazing Was is Austin City Limits
