Do you heard about Jean Paul Sartre or Simone de Beauvoir , or Albert Camus (they are all well knowed) or more recently Annie Arnaud ? About Emmylou… I move to tears when I listen some tracks such as Boulder from Birmingham, or Togherther Again for example.

I have never heard anything so true. A few weeks ago I was that second man, and now I can confidently say that I am the first.

What must it be like for these musicians decades later-knowing they once made music like this, were widely regarded as one of the best bands around, lived life together on the road and in the studio. All of them must look back and-well, I can’t even imagine what it would feel like to look back on lives of such achievement. True legends all.

You don't think about what you're doing, when you're doing it. I've been playing professionally since I was 15. I played big band music with three Master musicians and I paid attention, learned my theory. As for people we played with, doesn't mean much, you just do what you do. I can't explain it any better than that. I am a hard rock and prog lead guitar player, but she blows me away. And how about Albert Lee on guitar, and DeVito on the steel. That is some greatness, right there. They are really good, as was the whole band. Enjoy your evening. 😎

There’s a spiritual quality to her voice, that’s almost heartbreaking in its beauty and simplicity. Whether an authentic country musician, like her, is singing about God, or earthly love, it’s the same longing. I’ve been a lifelong rock fan, but rock doesn’t give you THIS. Wow.

I can't stop watching this performance. Not only is her singing both angelic and heartbreaking at the same time, but the accompaniment is simply outstanding. The pedal steel and Lee's guitar throughout the song adds such depth to it. Just a perfect performance!

I think it's wonderful with a beautiful voice. I didn't know, but when I read the reply, I thought it was a singer. I searched, and it was a singer with a wonderful singing voice. Is it already a famous singer? No way? You are not the person you are. I listened to grace barnard, youtube.

I have visions of someday in the future when Emmylou is up in Heaven teaching the angels how to sing better. This is simply one of the all time great performances available on KZread.

@@hux2000 In defense of the comment, I think they are simply describing the "look " of many of today's performers. Simply describing the visual style that they choose. Not making any moral judgement. And, honestly I knew exactly what the comment meant. Some of them do portray a satanic presence with the way they present themselves, simply to appeal to a particular group of people. I might go on to say that performers do have to...market themselves to stand out in some way, especially if there is any lack of supreme talent. lol

@@johnthorne4093 In the 70s performers like these proved that country doesn't have to sound stupid. There are amazing country songs and albums from that era. Wildfire by Michael Martin Murphy, from about 1975, is a lifelong favorite of mine.

I was a junior in high school in '77 listening to Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin..It took me 20 yrs later to find her, and so happy I did.

I went hiking in Topanga Canyon in the early 2000s and walked past an extraordinarily beautiful woman with long grey hair. "Oh, yeah, that has to be Emmy Lou Harris," I thought. And it was.

Real music, real talent, real art. So calm and peaceful. No lights, half naked dancers, or other shiney objects to detract from her amazing voice.

If you think you’ve heard every song Emmylou has ever done or just wanna hear a great one she laid tracks on than check out “Landlocked Blues” by Bright Eyes. She sings on another track or two on that Bright Eyes album but I can’t remember the names off the top of my head.

Saw Emmylou at the Grand Ole Opry (the newer one) in the mid eighties...I remember she broke a guitar string on her black Gibson acoustic in the middle of a song...she stopped immediately and had someone bring her a string, and she changed and tuned it right there on stage (no guitar tech) and began the song over again to cheers! Talk about keeping it real.

Nowadays, especially if you watch those talent shows, a lot of people seem to like those 'singers' who screech at the top of their voice and above their range and what's worse, the so-called professional judges even praise them

This woman is of course a very fine performer with a legendary voice. She's also one of the most hauntingly beautiful women I have seen in my life.

Here in Australia we don't get a lot of exposure to country/folk music and I came across Emmylou listening to Mark Kopfler. What an amazing musician. Takes you to another place. Back when music was real.

This is as close to hearing the voice of an angel on this earth. Breathtaking.

I saw her in a nightclub in California in 1975. Unassigned Seating, I got a table Front Row Center and she sang this song, as well as others. I felt I was in the presence of a Goddess lol. Her voice cracked in all the right places, conveying sweet/sad vulnerability. What an excellent artist. I'll never forget that night.

Certainly far longer than his wife at the time. Thanks for sharing your experience. Thanks to every one! We're joined together in a unique and rather beautiful way, all of us who have been graced by this exceptionally beautiful angel of a woman.

One of the greatest bands ever put together , pure quality , beautiful musicianship, they all compliment each other ......and Emmylou is just fabulous .

This lady uses the voice God gave her better than any singer I've ever heard, and she sings with her musicians better than any singer I've ever heard. This is greatness. Today's so-called "country" singers aren't in this woman's class.

@@NiePieerdol Linda was great, that's for sure. She had a better natural voice than Emmylou, however I think Emmylou used the voice she had a bit better and I believe her backup bands were better. They understood that they were there to compliment her, not be the show itself; and she utilized her band to enhance her voice like no other singer I've heard. There is a sweetness to Emmylou's sound that no other country singer I've heard can match. There have been better natural voices, but no one used what she had better than Emmylou.

no purple hair or multi tattoos and piercings or nudity, just real talent. How jealous must many of these young singers be that they have to put on a freak show to get any notice because they know they don't have talent like Emmylou.

I have 2 fairly large tattoos, Who taught our next generations how to make them better. Couple more years and songs get better. Zac Brown band are proof of that. Willie's son. Country is the money maker that's why alot of bands are going too jump on the bandwagon😊

Alot of people just don't like country for some kind of "stigma" reasons. I've found that most people really don't have their own taste in music, but follow a crowd - whatever that crowd likes, they "like". Or whatever is currently popular. And when certain music goes "out of style" they no longer listen, as if age and vogue have something to do with the enjoyment of music. They have to move with the times, rather than their own sense of what is good. When I hear comments like "oh that sounds so 'dated' " I know they have no tastes of their own.

One of the prettiest women I’ve ever seen. Such a lovely voice too.

A rare talent. And to think all these decades later she is still gorgeous. Her voice is still great today as it was then and no one rocks a head of gray hair like she does.

Breathtaking! Her voice is like a hummingbird floating around a feeder: You are hesitant to make a move, or speak a word otherwise it will vanish; it is like vapor appearing before your eyes: once there, all too soon gone. Thank you for posting this gem

There was an interview with them in 2019 at the Country Music Hall of Fame called "A Conversation with Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band". Her ex-producer/husband Brian Ahern was also there. You can watch it at the CMHFM Vimeo Livestream or Viddler channel. Pretty complex and interesting.

I discovered Emmy Lou just a few weeks ago, her voice is amazing!

Some years ago when visiting Arizona,I was told ,most men here love Emmylou Harris.I joined them. What can I say,that's not been said before.

I had the privilege of knowing Emmy Lou in the 70's when she would play regularly in a coffee house in Arlington Virginia. Tremendous talent. Saw her every night for weeks. She greeted me by name. Wonderful person.

i agree. although, i did hear linda ronstadt in concert in 1978. amazing performance. with the possible exception of the Stones (2002) and Simon & Garfunkel (1969), the best live show i ever attended.,

Her performance is magical! It's like we are seeing it in a dream 💕She can bring you in another dimension with her voice & music..She is a magician ❤️

Pika Chu: She did an amazing duo album/performances with the wonderful Mark Knopfler. Worth a peek...

I have listened to this song countless times since it first came out, and every single time i get teary eyed. So so beautiful.

Emmy Lou was beautiful back then but if you look at her later videos she gets more beautiful with every passing year.

Ken Chambers she's old now. She's not as pretty as she used to be. Dolly looks better than her before dolly had all that surgery. I have a book dolly wrote my life and other unfinished business and it has pictures from before plastic surgery and dolly still looks more beautiful than emmylou. Dolly looks more beautiful than emmylou today as well. Although emmylou was beautiful back then but today or back then emmylou is not as beautiful as dolly is or was before and after surgery.

Countrygirl country musiclover, the contrarian of the country world. Come on Countrygirl! We are talking about tastes, they are incredibly subjective, hence the name. However - in an attempt to raise your bet - I will have to say that on the contrary, I most definitely find Emymlou to be not only a more beautiful than Dolly in a appearance...but she also possesses a more beautiful voice. To top that off, I would have to say that she is a better songwriter as well. Not to hate on Dolly, I like her. But I love Emmylou!
