Chuck Berry was a great songwriter (especially his lyrics), and this is probably my favorite of his many tunes. Berry did more than one very good rendering of it...Bruce Springsteen and his band did a really fun live spin on it... But I think Emmielou nailed the definitive version of this song.

I discovered her in 1975. On a jukebox in a tavern. I was 12. (Together again was the song) My dad took me to the tavern on Fridays to get the rest of the family a fish sandwich from there. Meanwhile he'd drink beer, me, soda. Played pool, pinball and the bowling game. Great memories.

I can’t tell you how much I love this story. Growing up in a huge Irish American family with a midwestern dad who fled to the desert southwest to raise his family and never looked back, this sounds like one of our family stories.

Emmylou, I Love You!!!!!!! I use to see her at the Palomino Club in North Hollywood back in the late 70's. Like "two more bottles of fine wine" she just gets better and more beautiful with age.
Albert Lee is a VERY underrated picker.
She is one of the best voices ever, a true American treasure!!! Love all eras of her career and love how gracefully she has grown up!!!

Man, those television shows from back in the day had the best performances from it's artists.
if you don't know how important Emmylou was to saving country music , watch the Ken Burns Documentary. She ranks up there with Cash, G Jones, Conway, Elvis, Willie, Waylon, Haggard and Dolly. an absolute gem.

After all he discovered Emmylou and helped her get her foot in the door by inviting him to sing on his first solo albums. Country was just electrified by the incredible talents of Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, and even Stevie Nicks who had tons of folk, rhythm, soul and blues influences. Either way, well put and witty to bat. Cheers.

Charlie- Let’s give some love to ALBERT LEE. In 2 notes you know who it is. Man, he knows some theory. And he uses it WELL ! I love the way he doubles those notes. I heard this about 30 years ago and I just listened to it again tonight. Plug in and play - - clean. That’s Albert Lee. Other plug in and players: Vince Gill, Joe Walsh, Don Felder, Brad Paisley, LeRoy Parnell Nice to see somebody recognizing Albert. Tip: notice how all the musicians are smiling at each other/ enjoying what they’re doing up there. And you can hear it through the song.

Albert Lee! Anyone with doubts about Albert Lee hasn't heard Luxury Liner from this same group. He could show up in any club with any group (jazz, blues, rock, country) and burn the house down. If he opens his mouth, the crowd all says, "Y'all ain't from around here, are ya boy?"

This Lady is a gem in the music world
I have always been a fool for a good female singer. Emmylou has always been at the top of the best liked list. What a song bird. But the whole band was made up of excellent musicians. I don't know of another band that can play with this much chemistry. To think they can play this perfect without all the special electronics and do it live. An amazing group.

I used to go see her just to watch Albert Lee play the guitar. Man, she had a great band. The Hot Band, indeed.
She's always had a old sole . She's stayed true to her roots and great music will always withstand the changing times .
Emmylou is her sensational beautiful self, and love the Albert Lee and Hank DeVito collaboration. But the more times I watch this the more I appreciate John Ware on drums. He really laid it down perfectly.

Got to see her @ Waco Hall in 1980 with the Hot Band. That Black J200 with the Rose is Beautiful. I hope they only made 1 and it was for her. No one else could do it Justice after seeing and hearing her play it. EmmyLou brings back so many great memories in my life. Her version of Together Again is hands-down the absolute BEST version…..& I’m a die hard Buck Owens fan.I have played his music all over the country,but her version with piano lead ride,& then the cream of the crop DeVito on pedal steel. Absolute perfection!!! That song is why I started playing pedal steel. Thank you EmmyLou for your mere presence and your GORGEOUS Vocal.

When she arrived on the scene, the country queens in Nashville didn't know what to do. It was embarrassing how this hippie chick showed them what country really is. The Hot Band consisted of the best in the business. Glen Hardin and James Burton (studio) from Elvis' band. Albert Lee, Rodney Crowell, Hank DeVito. The best.

I can't remember what year it was 75 or 76, but I saw Emmylou and this exact line up of her band in Manchester U.K. I must have been 15 or so and she was amazing. I think it was at The Free Trade Hall. What a concert! And Albert Lee!

I was at that concert at the Free Trade Hall, Manchester in February 1976 and I got right in front of the stage- a few feet from Emmylou and the band at that time had James Burton on guitar. I can recall he also played dobro at one point and Hank Devito took Emory Gordy's bass and he then played mandolin for an acoustic set. Amazing night of music.
