I used to play pool with Eric in Antigua I worked as a Chef at the Copper and Lumber Store. Pool was played At Dougie's place after hours. Eric had been sober for a bit. I wasn't. One of my best memories. We played 3 x. I won once. I'm sober 30 plus years now. Eric was a big influence in my early sobriety. God bless you.

Richard, a long time ago, I flew to Antigua from NYC for the "Around the Island" sailboat race; don't know if it's still going. When I boarded the plane, I saw Eric sitting in first class. I asked the stewardess if that was him, and she responded yes. I thought nothing of it and, at the time, didn't know anything about Dougie's or that Eric had a rehab facility on the island. After hearing about Dougie's and that he was a regular, I decided to visit. One evening, I walked up the stairs and saw a few pool tables off to the right. I wrote my name on the chalkboard against the back wall and waited for my turn. I didn't even notice he was in there playing pool. I ended up playing against him, and won! He was such a kind, mild mannered guy. No ego whatsoever. He introduced himself as Eric, and that was it.

It's time for a complete change of ALL the uneducated, unqualified, OVERPAID powerbrokers who mis-run our country. Kick them out, replace them with Veterans and/or straight thinking un-woke mature STRAIGHT normal biological thinking people, who have a lifetime of real experience of what this changing PC "Wokeness" is doing to our Country. Time to stop the rot and destruction before it's too late. I have 3 straight adult children, 5 straight adolescent Grandchildren and 2 straight Great Children. I love them all dearly and we are a strong family unit. However I fear greatly for their future with these idiot left wing morons forcing their "woke" ideology" and rubbish PC down their/our throats. My Grandfather (crippled by German machine gunfire in the German Spring offensive of 1918) WW1 and my Father WW2 (radio operator on board HMS Hardy torpedoed off Murmansk on Atlantic Convoy duty 1943) will be turning in their graves over the end results that they offered, suffered and offered their all for. As a 74-year-old Vietnam Veteran, I refuse to die despite many years of illness, because I want to live to see the day these loonie lefties and their stupid policies are completely destroyed, as being unworkable, destructive to our Country and the way of life so many offered and so many gave their all in defence of. That I may die with the knowledge that my entire family will grow up in a normal, straight-thinking Man (Male of the species) & Women (Female of the species) un-woke, free, sane world in which to live their lives. I am totally pissed with every one of these uneducated, underqualified, overpaid cretins run this country. Wake up Australia, before it's too late. As patty got into high school I got ahold of Burden and the Animals. Starting to get interesting. Brother Joe began getting high so found Airplane, Hendrick and such. Southern rock beginning to become a thing.one of those things became my fav, JJ Cale. Remained so for life. Damn was he cool. So fing smooth. Everything he did seemed effortless. And the music so different ! I couldn't turn it off. JJ definitely in heaven. Hell couldn't let him in. He would have caused the fires to go out. He was just that damn COOL!!! Still that damn COOL!

JJ had a wonderful understated style of singing and playing.Other artists would take his songs, jazz them up and make hits of them.Great song writer who just loved performing for the fans.He wasn’t interested in the limelight as much as just putting out good music for the fans to enjoy.

Yeah, JJ Cole was a remarkable talented musician. And Clapton is such a class act by stepping back and letting him have centre stage. This is the definition of music written and performed by REAL Artists. ✨✌️💙🇺🇲
This makes this 63 year old feel 23 again ...
JJ Cale, not many people can say Eric Clapton gladly played rhythm guitar for them. Thanks for all the great music !!!
I remember in the middle 1980's Eric Clapton turning us on to J.J. Cale. He knew we would love his talent and we did. RIP JJ Cale!

It's like his grinning face on the cover of "Riding with the King" where he's driving a convertible with BB King in the backseat. He's thinking, "Oh my God...pinch me! I can't believe BB King agreed to make an album with me!"
You can definitely feel the affection Eric has for J.J. Cale.

I lived it. Just saying.
Apart from the front line, which was sheer magic, I thought the bass guitar was absolutely solid. When I jammed in a five piece, the fiddle player used to remind me that guitars are percussion, not strings. I thought he was both.
the smile on the woman's face playing rhythm guitar says it all

Joyous! What great singing, lyrics, guitars - all three. Wonderful!
The GREAT thing about JJ's playing is.... the notes he DOESN'T play!! THE master of musical understatement!!!
There should be a movie about JJ Cale.
This is a classic rock and roll music, listen thousands time and you hear a different delays
Love how John Mayer is grooving to Clapton's solo at the back.
Damn. It's such a joy hearing Clapper play rhythm behind J.J. Cale! Cat's got the feel for sure! It's obvious how much fun E.C. is having. I love this!

The best gift a person can give or receive, is the loyalty and affection of a lasting friendship. Here, between these two men, it is so plainly illustrated. To stand on a stage and play music together, makes them both so happy. Hats off to J.J. Cale and to Eric Clapton. Rest in peace, J.J.
Saw JJ and his band for the first time in 1982 or 3 and 7or 8 since. Just awesome miss him so much. Woke up this morning with a hangover and played some JJ. Best cure ever. Halfway thru Grasshopper I felt great. JJ and 5mg of Vicodin just what the Dr ordered

I love these guys so much! So great to see Eric smile! Thank you JJ Cale for all your great work... I love your voice ... and songs!
To have seen these two play is a dream that will pinch me as long as I live. I so wished JJ Cale would've stayed with us a little longer to cut more songs alone and with EC. One of the most underrated guitar players ever, few know how much John Cale's playing influenced other guitar greats.

JJ Cale was an American treasure that too few knew about, unfortunately. He wrote so many songs made famous by others that it's actually hard to believe. He has a serious case of "bed-head" here! No glamor issues with JJ; he was the real deal.

JJ Cale here showed what he did , not too many years before his passing. RIP JJ, man of so many songs , rhythms....!!
Just so kool, the way he just lays down a tune and slides onto the stool, then wanders around whilst picking! I love JJ, RIP my man.
I might go out to California...might go down to Georgia...I might stay here. Smooth.
was blessed as a lad to hear JJ in house by now now 84 yr old dad. always one of my favorites - couldn't help but turn my HS and college pals onto him. Is there better mellow cool? and with another fixture of my music years, Clapton, on stage... wow!

Hi. Johnny here,64 years young. JJ one of first rockers I REALLY got into. Had older sister so first exposed to Beatles early years. I'll be cranking him up forever. Well till hell calls me home. Pretty sure they'll let me in!! I¡ Not that cool and I've spent last 50 years busting my ass to earn my ticket.
