Miss Paula, when you spoke about working for everything you have, I instantly related. I will be 29 March 11, my father passed when I was a young boy. My mother disowned me when I was in my teens so I was left with my grandmother (Nanny) as I called her. She taught me since I was little to always earn what you want or need. I have been working since I was 14 and I can sleep at night knowing I have earned everything I have. Nanny is in the nursing home now and she has dementia but she I know she is proud of me. Thank you so much for always being open with all of us and just know there are all kinds of people you inspire and I am one of them! Just wanted to share something from me to you. Love and best dishes!

Bravo 🙌 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻. I also put myself through nursing school and paid my way, worked 2 jobs from high school in to my 30’s, though I’m grateful for my intact family (parents still married for almost 60 years). My 17yo daughter also works & pays her way. (We still live paycheck to paycheck because I’m the breadearner) but I can’t wait to save enough $$ to take a trip to Georgia to eat at Paula’s restaurant. Will be my dream come true. ❤️🥰 You can always hold your head up high! Hope you have a family one day to have that father- kid relationship you so deserve!

Dear, sweet Aunt Peggy, now I see one reason why she means so much to you, she would come and stand beside you and cheer you on, when you needed it the most, ya know what? We all need that in life and should be especially thankful for the “Aunt Peggy’s” we have in our lives, for sure if we were blessed enough to have one. Thank you Paula for all that you do to share with us and teach us how to make delicious foods. We love you 💕

Take the two pits you just threw away and stick 4 toothpicks in in each of them. Put the avocado pits on a glass of water. The toothpicks keep it on the water but not in it, (you don't want the pit to rot.)) Put in a sunny spot, keep the water touching the seed. Soon root 's will start to grow in the water and a stem will come out of the top. When you get some leaves plant in a sunny area of your yard put the other one nearby about 3-5 feet apart. They need each other to fruit. Give it some compost, some water, you know some gardening. TLC.i lived outside. San Francisco and I rooted an avocado pit like this and planted it next to my ex boyfriends established tree that didn't fruit and boy did we get avocados so if your weather is like West Contra Costa County you should be good to go. Good luck..

I know you can grow a plant from a avocado seed. My question is, can you grow a fruiting tree from a seed??? I know people who have claimed to grow lemon trees from seeds. I assume that you need to start with something that has not been genetically modified.

My mama loves a lot of mayonnaise too. I like a little mayonnaise, but not as much as you and my mama does. My mama has always ate mayonnaise in her beans and she eats it with cornbread or crackers. Now... I love mayonnaise salad with cucumber in it . I love to eat it with cornbread and field peas . Yummy !! Miss Paula, I can tell you are a humble person and I know exactly what you're talking about. You deserve it and God sure has blessed you. Praise the Lord !! Love ya bunches !! ❤😘❤😘❤

Paula, after you mentioned your ice cream scoop I just had to tell you about mine, which I bought and have used for over 25 years. Believe it or not, mine came with anti freeze sealed into the handle which causes the entire scoop to work so well, dipping into the ice cream and releasing from the scoopl I've never seen or found another one like it. I bought it at kitchen convention when I saw how it worked. Everyone who's ever been here when I used it had a fit over it to see how easy it is to scoop ice cream out. Just thought I'd mention my experience with my cherished ice cream scoop. Love you, - tell Bobby hello for me and I pray all of you stay safe and well. Linda from texas.

That laugh is so infectious! Love it. Chicken salad with rice and avocado is a new one for me. Can't wait to try it. I need to boil up a chicken for this. Miss Paula, have you stopped reading your you-tube comments? I miss your replies!

Unless you live in zone 7. (Or Southwestern Virginia.) I've got six avocado pits on my windowsill in water. Where there's a will there's a way. (Or large barrel planters ; )

It takes more than a "few years" for an avocado tree to bear fruit.

When I lived in south Florida we had the biggest avacado tree that bore the largest avocados you’d ever see. Miss that tree.

Oh dear. Regarding avocado - do not grow a tree from a seed. The seed of an avocado does not have but half the genes of the tree it is growing on, so the edible part may be very different tasting if you grow the seed and expect the same taste as was on the tree it came from. Best to buy these at a nursery that has them growing, already grafted with a known producer. Just saying.

@@allisonbates2026 Well, we have a club for the "don't know everything club" because none of us do. I find the above information on KZread very recently, and it was a revelation. I have grown trees from seed and planted them, enjoyed the fruits of the new tree. The problem is - it is years between the first avocado you ate where you got the seed and the next avocado you ate from the new tree. I never remembered what the first avocado tasted like, so I never realized it was different. There are thousands of varieties of avocados - but the best are usually the ones they propagate and you can get at a nursery. You pay a little to get a winning variety.

I live in California and we actually planted an avocado seed many many years ago. It grew so tall! It was taller than a 2 story house and gave the most delicious avocados ever, and so many! It worked for us. 😍😍
