Louisiana's 'Cancer Alley' Residents Suffer Harms from Fossil Fuel and Petrochemical Industry

The fossil fuel and petrochemical industry in the Louisiana area that has come to be known as “Cancer Alley” has devastated the health, lives, and environment of residents, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today. Cancer Alley refers to an approximately 85-mile stretch of communities along the banks of the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, where communities exist side by side with some 200 fossil fuel and petrochemical operations.
The 85-page report, “‘We’re Dying Here’: The Fight for Life in a Louisiana Fossil Fuel Sacrifice Zone,” documents how residents of Cancer Alley suffer the effects of extreme pollution from the fossil fuel and petrochemical industry, facing elevated rates and risks of maternal, reproductive, and newborn health harms, cancer, and respiratory ailments. Parts of Cancer Alley have the highest risk of cancer from industrial air pollution in the United States. These harms are disproportionately borne by the area’s Black residents

American push themselves as such as a great country but massive poverty and health issues caused by the select few who have all the money and the rest suffer. So sad for these people

Well that's a lot of travel. Without it there's no real way to be aware of what's going on coming on.

Passionate for sure. I live in "Cancer Alley". Historically, it was much worse. We all want clean air, water, etc. For me this video lacks facts and data in a scientific context. That is the key for change.

this is a felony. why are those executives not in prison? this is an intentional environmental crime because these criminals running these dangerous businesses know the poor cant fight back. where is the EPA? where is the DEP? why is there no accountability for these crimes? Dupont needs to be accouhntable. this is sickening.

The truly sad part is that collectively we are more than capable to end all of these horrible conditions our people have been dealt, and collectively, we have not used the knowledge our scholars/master teachers have given us that could liberate us completely.

Bacteria That's the worst idea ever. Id break these issues apart and examine the points one at a time instead of falling as 1 lump sum of human flesh.
