Crazy that the Riders PSP port assets show it being called Extreme! Seems to confirm without a doubt that they adapted the concept from the skateboarding pitch from the Heroes CG house. Great video mate

While not games, most of the Sonic manga are definitely lost.

I got one interesting bit of Sonic lost media, and that would be the missing complete cut of the Saturday Morning series’ pilot. Originally, the pilot was intended to be a half-hour TV special that would’ve aired on ABC, but for whatever reason, it ended up getting scrapped and the special got recut into a shorted 24 minute episode for the 1st season finale. The original intro animation was entirely different and all that can be found of its existence are bit of concept art, storyboards, animation cells, scripts, and a shoddy VHS recording of the very ending filmed at a game expo in the ‘90s.

One piece of lost Sonic media I find really interesting that's rarely mentioned are the Motorola exclusive Sonic games. There's not a lot of info on them but I find it very fascinating that Sega made a deal with Motorola to make games exclusive to their early phones.

10:58 if I had a nickel for every lost prototype NiGHTS stage involving a spiral, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it’s more money than Sonic BOOM made.

@@Hex_Crashmania The original NiGHTS into Dreams for SEGA Saturn had a scrapped final level for Claris, different from the final version where both Claris and Elliot just do the same Twin Seeds. It was titled CLARIS_SPIRAL in the files and is believed to be where you were to fight the lost boss Selph/Self.

10:58 If i remember correctly, collision data was found in the Autodemo. Not usable, but we're able to see the overall shape of the room.

The Cutting Room Floor and Unseen64 are worth taking a look at as well for lost / scrapped Sonic content. LMW is good, but I've noticed a lot of found media takes months or years before anyone updates the respective pages (see the cancelled Lego Island sequel that was finally unearthed in 2021 but still marked as "lost").

My favorite technically doesn't count. Sonic x-treme. I absolutely love everything about it, not a single thing with it I dislike. It was the first piece of lost media I remember learning about actually! It looks so fun, I love the music, the level design is so boldly unique. Everything is just amazing. I'll actually be owning a piece of lost sonic media soon! A plush of my main man knuckles finally resurfaced after years of being lost and I'll be purchasing it!

My guess is that this version featuring real time lighting was very unstable and Sonic Team may not have had time to optimise it, so instead they just removed the real time lighting

@40kkidlock18 considering how unoptimised retail 06 was, I'm pretty sure the graphical fidelity was greatly reduced to make it a bit more playable.

This is so good. I’m so fascinated by the production process and everything else that goes on behind the scenes in sonic games. Even just random shit in the files is interesting to me. I really hope you continue making these types of Sonic videos, because I really do look forward to these. I would be hella interested in another in-depth look into Sonic 06 someday too. I loved your other video and am very curious if there is more to it. Even if just random oddities with the game honestly, weird glitches and such. -As a note on oddities - a couple extremely minor things I haven’t seen mentioned for 06 is in Dusty Desert, in the far right corner of the room with sand waves, the lighting for the whole room goes bright green. But only in one spot, if you move away a couple steps it’s back to normal. In another area you can walk on the wall as if it was the floor all the way to the ceiling. And in (multiplayer mode at least) Crisis City, there’s a building you can glitch around with the purple gem that has a whole side of it blank and untextured. They’re stupidly small errors in the grand scheme but I remember being excited to find those myself as a kid, and if you could ever find a use for that I could probably get footage of them. Dunno if you’ll read this but either way, I love your videos because they scratch an itch in my brain that’s just super intrigued by random game quirks. Thank you for putting so much effort into these videos :)

the saturn era of sonic was soooo good man, i wish it was longer, even if dreamcast games like sa1 or 2 wouldn't exist, we could have gotten a banger rpg or 3d sonic game

To my understanding, "Who I Am" wasn't actually 'lost'. It was originally produced for the game but Magna-fi asked that it not be used because they wanted to release it on one of their own albums instead, so it ended up there rather than in the game

Some I find interesting are CCXP 2018 trailer for the Sonic movie which seems to have showed an earlier Sonic then the early design we know, the conplete version of the AOSTH pilot, the early SatAM intro, and the early version of Super Sonic Racing shown in some Sonic R trailers

19:20 In the early days of DS emulation when there were just a few dump roms online on some very sketchy websites, I vividly remember trying to download Sonic DS from one but the download link was always broken. With it there was also a single high quality screenshot of the game but I could never get it myself. I was in my late childhood years by then, so my memory is not exactly trustworthy. But I could swear to god it existed at some point, even if fabricated! Thanks for the great video!

I remember tweeting about the lost ova dubs, but apparently the entire cantonese dub was found in october but I didn't know that when I made the tweet. The korean dub has some footage but the arabic dub might not even exist.

Some sonic lost media that not many people will care about is a large part of the Sonic X Polish Dub past Season 1 (and probably some other dubs). Especially since TMS takes down the entire dub reuploads on youtube.

It's sad we've lost pre-genesis wave continuity do to Penders' lawsuit but it's also a karmic justice for Archie who mistreated their creators for decades. Serves them right. Very nice! Still lots of sonic media to uncover then. One honourable mention would go to the English localisations of the Segasonic arcade games, particularly Segasonic the Hedgehog 1993. I think someone might have found a dump for this.

My favourite bit of media that I wanna see is the early Sonic SatAM intro. All we have right now is an animatic, about 10 seconds of a camera recording a TV playback of the intro, and a direct picture feed from a commercial break. I do know an interpos film copy of this intro print does exist, but it's in beyond workable conditions and has badly deteriorated over the years. But if we can at least get some of that film recovered, then not all hope is lost.

Wonder if we ever will get a Silver game? He's a pretty popular character within the fanbase, but isn't that well known outside of it unlike Shadow, who got his own game and will get his own Generations story in a few months. Silver's character isn't explored that deeply- all we really know about his past is the bit of info we got in 06, which was _18 years ago._ IDW is bringing him back into the spotlight, but it's more like the light hit him when he stood next to the Diamond Cutters, who objectively get more spotlight in the comic's storyline than he is. I think the last time we got an exploration of his character excluding his past was 2022 with the IDW annual, where he vented his fears and stress to Espio. Personally I think the only reason he was able to save the world from the Metal Virus with Sonic by going super was just because Shadow had already been infected, so the writers couldn't use him instead. Silver is a very deep character, but Sega is refusing to explore it. I hope he gets a game, or at least some story more focused on him. More backstory, more exploration of his character. Somehow we're getting essentially Shadow the Hedgehog 2 BEFORE a Silver game. I love Shadow too, but there's so much untapped potential with Silver that Sega could be using.

People who call games like 06 and Boom the worst games of all time clearly never played old-school shovelware games. Especially NES ones, those were atrocious

My Xbox copy of Sadow the Hedgehog always crashes. sometimes it does not crash. Nomrally that would not be much of an issue Id just play trough the game hoping it wont crash again but since there are unskipeable cutscenes, I do not have the will power to play trough it sadly. Im watching these cutscenes over and over and over again I cannot handle it no more. Really sad.

You really need to make your 'un' in unrecovered a lot more prominent and audible because most of the time you say it, it just sounds like your saying recovered without the 'un' which was very confusing in the part where you talk about recovered vs unrecovered since it sounds like you're saying the same word over and over.

TOO MANY "PRETTY"! Try to reduce repetition of words in the script. Great video though

Sega needs to stop making Sonic games for iPhones because Apple is garbage. They should release all their games on PC or Android too. I am still trying to make the perfect MACOS virtual machine to play Sonic on. Also I hate Nintendo and the Nintendo Switch and also Xbox Series S because of these garbage consoles games cannot get their full potential. :(((((( Makes me really sad.
