It's quite possible NO ONE who actually went on that site even knew what the hell this game was or that it even existed or that it was even rare in the least. The real reason is probably cause Nick knows that he’ll make more money from this video than by hoarding the game. Cody doesn’t have a successful KZread channel, so the only value he gets from this rare game is by keeping it ‘rare’ and mysterious. The interesting part about it is that NIck’s video will ultimately drive up the demand for it… but also supply as more people start listing it. It’ll be interesting to see how the economics shake out here

I'm so curious as to why your brother would put such a rare and expensive item into his checked luggage instead of carrying it in his backpack, where he could personally monitor and assure its safety.

The best part of this story is how 2 COMPLETELY different methods independently brought us to the same point at the same time. 2 unique journeys. I love that so much.

Thank you for dumping and uploading the rom, that's the best way to preserve these things for posterity. I kind of understand why collectors buy stuff like this and sit on it without sharing, but all it takes is a house fire, or perhaps a relative discarding 'junk' after the owner dies, for these things to be lost forever. I really enjoyed the video too, very well-paced and suspenseful. It was fun to follow the twists and turns of the journey of that cartridge, and really cool to think that, thanks to your generosity and sense of community, I now own a little piece of it.

Dude the amount of hard work all of you had to go through to preserve this historic piece of technology is insane. You buying a game console last minute, your brother smuggling it across countries during a pandemic, then you having a brand new 2DS XL modified by a German guy so it could run the game, then having another dude watch you play the game and translate the language for you, then having ANOTHER dude literally copy every file and piece of code for the game so others could play it, and THEN Cody literally speaking to the McDonald's CEO about getting the code for his copy of the game

I’m pretty sure he was working with a nonprofit group helping kids in South America at the time, but I can’t remember the exact country. I would share his name, but not publicly like this. Though if you’ve read any academic papers about video game ethics (especially around gambling and micro transactions) then you might have seen him once or twice.

Just wanted to thank you a lot for not being a "Cody". Thank you for not being a selfish collector hiding valuable "historical" objects in an archive somewhere to be forgotten and lost. He is the best example of the entire world of gatekeeping interesting collectibles, just to boost their egos'. So again, thank you for what you have done.

Let's be honest, Cody kept the game to himself because he wanted to own the rare thing because it made him feel special. Neither Nintendo nor McDonalds care about you dumping an over decade old training game. In fact, McDonalds did everything they could to let Cody play the darn thing when he brought it to them.

Also Cody mentioned knowing people who work on copyright and has to stay strict to the law because of it. One thing I love about this video is that, despite lost video games, especially those of such obscurities, being such a small range of interest, this video managed to catch the attention of millions of people. I one day hope to see someone make a translated version of the game.

Oh my, this story deserves to be in a freaking TV, obscure game made by japanese branch of american fast food chain, that is rarer, than anything. Cody's story of emails with branches located all around the world, your story involving big amount of cash and multiple people all around the globe... True masterpiece

This must have been what it felt like when Robert falcon Scott reached the south pole only to realize roald Amundsen had beaten him there by about 3 weeks. Good thing you didn't have to die on the way home in the antarctic wilderness

Okay, It's pretty random, but I heard a SC-88 Pro French Horn at 5:59, which means that this is the same French Horn which was used in many games, but its most famous use is probably in the Gen 3 Pokemon games. This French Horn is literally everywhere.

This is one of the greatest youtube archs Ive ever seen! I was jumping around and all that because of the twists. The music really helped with the emotion that i felt too! Incredible.

wow such an adventure , for both you and cody. this is only the second video ive seen , but man you are an amazing person and you really put your effort in making things possible , if only more poeple were like you in the world.

This was quite the video. So many ups and downs, so many emotions. It was very much a roller coaster, and it was a fantastic journey to watch.

A man who spent 3.2k dollars, waited 2 months to even lay hands on the game itself, and got a German modder to make him a 3ds with a capture card. All that work, time, and money just dump it for free for everybody to enjoy. This man is the definition, of a mad lad.

the only thing i put in normal luggage is clothes and things too large for carry on, i know how fragile some of my stuff is and its far easier to get new clothes in a hurry than it is to find half the stuff i bring
