Jonathan Harris and Michael Rennie already knew each other very well. They starred together in a BBC series (that was also run in the U.S.) from 1959-65 called "The Third Man." I believe Harris was Rennie's valet in the series.....and he got bonked on the head quite a bit.

“He’s worse than useless, he’s detrimental!” - I love that line!! Great writing on the review! As a kid, I never noticed the different lizards.. I thought it was the same one. I missed the prosthetic headpiece changes.

So let's review... his staff got broken by a clumsy old guy, by a rock, and by getting thrown on the ground. We're one "Yakety Sax" away from a Benny Hill sketch!

One of my favorite episodes of this show! Everyone got involved! John and Maureen, then Don and Judy also willing to sacrifice their freedom to save the children! No part for Debbie the Bloop! Apparently, the Keeper was not interested. Later, when I was much older, I thought this might have been Don and Judy’s best chance to get away and get down to makin babies!! In a comfy, upscale habitat!! Maureen’s kindness turns the Keeper’s mind, (that seemed unlikely)! They almost ruined the episode with that horrible spider marionette from Gilligan’s Island! Still, in spite of that, this 2-parter is in my top 6 for the series!!

Irwin Allen for all of his faults generally did not interfere with an actor's performance. That was one of the reasons that actors wanted to work on his shows, they knew that they had a good deal of freedom.

15:10 The music here (whether it is stock from other episodes or not) really goes a long way toward covering for the absolute silliness of what is happening, and giving it some lift in tension.

I;ve watched most of these episodes here. But I think Mr Irving takes up way too much time with his comments. Perhaps it would be more enjoyable if he just made a summary before and/or after the episode? Most of the things he point out are very obvious. I just like to enjoy the show as it is-nonsense and all.

Irving, your cat stole the show in this video. First, at 0:32 the cat pays rapt attention, and then at 0:44 yawns like she couldn't care less. And then, at 0:54 she starts scratching herself like all get out. The scratching ends at 1:05. What was that all about? At 4:10 the cat makes a cameo appearance, and couldn't care less about your Celestial Department Store knockoff of the Keeper's staff. Finally, at 17:43, the cat has had enough of you waving your left hand and arm in her face, so she pulls a Jonathan Harris and decides to be a scene stealer. The scene stealing doesn't actually occur until 18:20.
