Lopetegui signs West Ham contract & begins planning with Tim Steidten | Sullivan is key for summer

Спорт

Geo discusses reports that Julien Lopetegui has signed his contract at West Ham United and how David Sullivan would have played a key role. Tim Steidten is now planning with Lopetegui for the summer transfer window ahead of next season

Julen Lopetegui will be West Ham’s new head coach next season; however, any announcement will be delayed until David Moyes has officially departed the club.
It is understood that all relevant paperwork has been agreed upon by Lopetegui’s backroom team, and the deal is done. This follows what Claret & Hugh revealed yesterday regarding the Spaniard’s extensive due diligence on the club.
As reported yesterday on C&H, a comprehensive analysis of the club’s playing staff has been conducted over the past few months. ExWHUEmployee also revealed yesterday that the former Madrid boss has been working closely with Tim Steidten to prepare for next season.

I am also optimistic. We kept complaining about Moyes, now we have the personnel to make a difference. We got what we wanted, Steidten is in control of signings, and we have a head coach instead of a manager. We asked for the system to evolve, now we have to trust the method

I'm glad the model is changing at West Ham. I don't expect miracles in a season. If the football evolves gradually, our coach is tactically flexible and proactive, the transfers make sense and improve the team, the age comes down, we use some youth, and finish mid table or above, I'll be ecstatic. Our squad is old, mismatched and largly unfit. It's time for some deadwood culling and new incentives.

Just remember nothing is impossible, if you hit the right sweet spot with a good honest set of players. Who would have thought Leverkusen would be so hot under Alonso, sweeping every one aside. Or Claudio Ranieri, what price was he as a Premier League Championship manager when he took over almost relegated Leicester City in the Summer of 2015. This might be the moment for West Ham to finally blossom.

He’s probably a good bet as a step forward it would be a big ask to change from ultra cautious defensive Moyes ball to all out attack mode in one go this looks like a halfway house appointment hopefully it will work out and we recruit players who are comfortable on the ball quicker in transition and we keep kudus and Bowen

My biggest fear is not JLo clashing with Sully, its Sully and JLo ganging up and clashing with Steidten. We all know JLo is Sullivans man, and I hope they both decide not to keep putting the brakes on Tim's transfer picks. Steidten for me is the main man at West Ham and he must be left alone to get on with his job of finding players.

It’s all well and good saying a manager shouldn’t have a final saying, but if Steidten signs a load of crap, who’s neck is on the block if the team struggles due to squad being full of players not good enough? The manager. Lopetegui won’t think any differently. He’ll want players he believes are good enough, as bad signings could be the difference between losing your job or keeping it. There needs to be the right balance. Hopefully Tim delivers this summer as he’s flattered to deceive so far at this club. I agree neither Moyes and Tim were happy with the January window. You only had to hear Moyes’ comments on the night after the game. And why would they have been chasing Osman if they were happy with no Benrahma or Fornals replacement? Disclaimer, it wasn’t for the sake of it.

My concern is that this was not Tim’s choice and Sullivan has his grubby hands all over this appointment. The appointment and his football doesn’t concern me as much and actually could be a stepping stone to a more possession based attack minded football and format in a couple of years. To go from Moyesball to ‘Amorinball’ probably not possible in two years anyway without an even more expansive (and unaffordable…) rebuild.

Proof is in the pudding. Lopey is laughing all the way to the bank whatever happens. I will get behind whatever manager once he is onboard, but I will won't be getting excited, until I see a consistent change for the better. Iv'e been a fan to long to allow managers let me down. Lets see what happens. I definitely won't be expecting Europe in Lopey's first season, whatsoever COYI

There has been a toxic atmosphere around the club for quite some time and it mainly comes from the top. We witnessed it recently when the petulant bully Moyes lashed out at Steidten because didn't have the guts to do it to the main culprit the poisonous dwarf. I don't see Lopetegui falling for it, so hopefully he builds a bond with Tim and they manipulate the tin pot Napoleon into doing what's best for the club.

Really don't like this appointment as it's not Steidten's choice but it is what it is. While Sullivan remains as owner he will always find a way to get his grubby mitts involved in everything. I just have a bad feeling that if this backfires the media are going to destroy us.
