Kilman is a waste of money if paying anything more than £20m. Go and get the Italian no.15 and be done with it. If there’s money to be spent if Aguerd is pushed out or not, get Nunez too. Kone has played 40 odd matches for WFC this season. I've seen over half of these. He has grown into the Watford team, better going forward than defensively, and can get bullied a little by some of the more physical sides in the championship. He was nowhere near winning the player of the season award at Watford and fans would not pick him out as one of The Horns top 2/3 players, unlike Downes at Southampton. My view is he needs another season at Watford and track his progression. I'm not sure we don't have better options in our own U21's. Hope that helps Geo.

As a Canadian WHU supporter, I must say that Kone would be a great signing for us. I followed him at CF Montreal and he has massively improved since he has been in England. Also, I don't think we have seen all that he is capable of yet; I think that he still has a lot of potential yet. He played really well against Argentina and he was the best Canadian player on the pitch for the draw against France a couple weeks ago. Jonathan David is a player that I have been wishing for WHU, I think that his style would be perfect for WHU. He is such a great player and thinking of him playing with the likes of Bowen, Kudus, etc. he would be an amazing addition for us. Getting both of them would be a dream for me, good business and I don't think that they will break the bank. Excited by these rumours!!

I think it was Russ over at WHN that said he was pretty sure there had been something of a gentleman's handshake between clubs prior to Flynn's loan to Southampton about a transfer fee. That might explain the fee.

This Kone looks good going forward, but I don’t think he does enough defensively and being a box to box midfielder you need to be good up both ends of the pitch. If the plan is to have someone on the bench behind Soucek then I get the signing. If Loppy however wants someone to walk straight into the starting 11 then I don’t think this kid is the answer in the short term at least. No thanks to Jonathan David. He’s not a Lopetgui striker. He has pretty similar preferences to Moyes when it comes to CF. It’s one of the only things both managers have in common. David won’t work in how Loppy sets his teams up, in my opinion.

As a Canadian WHU fan/channel supporter it’s a rare opportunity for me to offer some insight. To me Koné’s the type of midfielder that’d do well in the PL. Strong/athletic, well-rounded player that I believe still has a lot of room for improvement having not been over in Europe long. Been saying forever I’d love to see J. David at West Ham, would be a dream come true getting em both! ⚒️🇨🇦 Btw Geo the 2nd pass leading to a goal is called a “hockey assist” over here. Cheers

Kone is a decent player for Canada - a direct replacement for Atiba Hutchinson who retired after a long and successful career in Turkey. Kone is athletic, pretty good technically, has a potential big upside in terms of improvement, and the future for "Les Rouges" in the middle of the park. Plus, he's probably affordable. Johnathan David, in my opinion, despite his scoring record in France, goes missing too often when playing for Canada in meaningful matches. Yes - he scores in qualifying campaigns for Canada, but when crunch time comes, David almost evaporates from the pitch. I don't think he has the mental resilience to play at the Premier League level and would probably advance his career - and Canada's fortunes - by playing elsewhere in Europe. Canada, in general, has a small, but emerging, crop of young talent coming through in advance of the 2026 World Cup that some clubs could benefit from.

Because we will not pay £30+ million up front it will be spread over the length of Kilmans contract, say he signs a 5 year deal then we agree a £40 million deal then we will pay £8 million a year so we will have x amount to play with in the window

No, it shows everything - can see when they lose the ball, lose duels etc as well. Can watch literally just his tackles, just his headers etc from every game or specific games. So you can pick a random Watford game and watch every action he does - good or bad.

One thing I dislike, despite what some thing, is not knowing anything about players we’re linked to but I don’t have time (or desire) to start watching French football every weekend. I also have doubts over anyone who claims to watch 10 different leagues as it’s virtually impossible, imo anyway.
