LONGEST YD100 MOTORIZED BICYCLE RIDE ALONG PULLING A TRAILER

Ойын-сауық

In this video I go to Elizabeth New Jersey on my yd100 powered motorized bike. The ride is about 2 hours each way if everything goes smoothly, everything did not go smoothly. My friend Benny comes along for the ride for the fun of it. I know what I’m picking up in Elizabeth is about 50lbs. and will not fit on my bicycle. Which is why I bring my smaller trailer on this epic bike ride. Thanks for coming on the ride with us.

    That was an amazing trip. You have your YD 100 running great. would absolutely love the raw riding footage with just live and added commentary. When the weather is bad here and I cannot ride one of my motorized bikes, I tend to watch long m bike trips for therapy and this video was epic. That ebike guy is faster but he would never have been able to ride 60 plus miles without having to stop to charge up his bike( especially at that speed). Thanks for all the hard work making this. I appreciate it

    Long rides are always awesome as long as the bike your riding holds up. I’ve gone on a hand full of 40+ mile rides and the longest I’ve ride I’ve had was 80 miles. Took all day long

    Yeah the long rides are very enjoyable for a few reasons but the threat of the bike or motor not making it can be very real. I usually take one of my oldest/most trusted bikes on these rides but the age of the bike does make me worried sometimes that they will make it. Especially since I’m so heavy and that adds so much more stress to the ride then most people even realize. So if it’s a long ride, pretty much anything that will be more than 2 hours one way I bring my trailer to help carry everything. I use to just fill my basket with it all but after my bad wreck at speed do to to much added weight in my basket causing me to get very hurt for a few months I stopped doing that and just bring my trailer for ease and simplicity and it has helped tremendously and actually made it such an easier all at time with it, that’s not even counting the amount of stress I don’t have to carry with me because of it. On any trip more then 2 hours I bring tools like always but also a coil and cdi in case and on those longer trips like this one I bring an entire extra motor I know works just in case which is why the trailer comes in so clutch. I have not needed any of it yet but I feel as if I didn’t have it then I would. Cause if a trip takes 2 hours at speed 25-30mph then pedal is going to take….well basically I’m just goin to have to live there and it will be my new home I guess lol. A lot of people think I’m stupid for it and that’s nuts but me and my bike is like 350lbs just us and then my bag (40ish lbs.) and pulling a trailer with that drag (idk how to quantify that) but over the course of 5 hours that’s a lot of work for one of these tiny single speed motors in the heat (which is why on long rides I only choice iron sleeve motors now). Usually going that far like in this video I pickin something up so a welder and that weighs whatever it does like 40ish lbs. plus since I got the trailer I’m carrying my buddies stuff plus the air pump and extra tubes and tires wheel bearing and axles and grease. Like I bring everything that has broken in the past that has ended a ride because as good as I build these motors and as reliable as I have gotten them to be now, all this weight and time running at speed it EXTREMELY hard on them and I just want to be ready for any of it. I haven’t had to do a big repair besides a flat or ten on a trip but it’s worth not carrying the stress cause I think that weighs way more lol. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

    @@JMB676Yeah getting stranded far from home is the worst thing ever, bringing a whole spare motor tho is crazy. On short rides I don’t bring anything with me, I longer rides I carry the basic tools and parts in my backpack (Allen wrenches, adjustable wrenches, a handheld tire pump, a rolled up strip of duct tape, and then one spare park plug, a spare CDI, and a spare magneto). I just took my bike out about an hour ago for a ride and maybe ten minutes from home and something happened to my clutch where when I would release the clutch it would not engage so I couldn’t get the bike to start, I couldn’t figure out why and I didn’t have any tools with me so I ended up using my keys to undo the flat head screw on the clutch arm, I loosened up the cable and then tightened the screw and continued my ride. These bikes can be nightmares lol, a few days ago my handlebars loosened up to the point where I had to walk a mile and a half home with the bike.

    now that was a nice ride johnnie . hey im sure your a pro welder by now but just in case remember bike frames are thin steel best way to weld that stuff is get a old junk steel frame and practice .low settings and just tack weld your beads . to much heat you will blow through to little you wont penetrate the steel . but man once you figure it out you will be golden . thats why i said find a junk frame to practice on . would love to see you do some welding . maybe not the welding part because it will ruin your camera fast . but you know what your welding . i would also change them rims on the trailer i know you have already but you know . they do make a solid rubber tire for them bikes but there junk i mean you might be able to stick them inside a slightly bigger rubber tire and run them like that just glaze the inside it the rubber tire you put them in with some rubber cement . it is nice you have a riding buddy . ok buddy ride safe take care see ya in the next one .

    I’m by no means a pro welder but I only used it once cause the time of year and cause where I live but to be honest I definitely used it in my room at night 😬 but you’ll see what I welded pretty soon tho. Well you actually did already to be honest but didn’t know you was looking at it. It looks like hell but I bet my life on it everytime I get on my daily. I welded a lot in years past but never often enough to get good but six years ago I got ok and was able to make beads most the time but I kinda lost my touch since I was only just kinda getting better at it but it’s ok come next summer I have big plans for it. Also as far as the wheels I’m actually still just running them at the lower pressure (25ish psi) cause they work fine like that n since they just work like that I haven’t felt the need to change them since there’s been soooo many other things that have been way more pressing. Well no matter what I’m glad you liked the video and the long ride, now it’s definitely longer then most with a bunch cut or just never recorded just so I could make it all the way but I am tempted to continue putting up longer form videos of the rides. Either way thanks for watching brother hope all is well.

    @@JMB676 alls good johnnie . doing fine . i know i need to get out there once it warms up and ride my bike to . im really out of shape and need to . plus there is some places i would like to go and cant in a car and cant on a regular bike cause im old and out of shape lol . and the only difference between a good welder and a bad welder is a angle grinder lol . but seriously try tack welding make a tack weld and then tack another weld weld next to it kinda overlapping each other its a little slower but you will get a really good weld all the way . like stacking dimes . well i guess it depends on what welder you have . tig or mig . tig is different tig is more like soldering i dont know much more about it then that but i do know most people like it better once they get used to it . i learned to weld on a arch welder . the good ole stick welders . that was fun but the welds always looked bad . you had to do alot of practice welding to get good at it . and even then sometimes your welds would look like crap .

    Lol that’s kinda fun but I take a forty minute ride to and then again from my p o box which I usually do at least once a week but usually twice. Don’t worry once you get your new bike lined out you’ll be rippin it 4 hours away. But to be honest you just need to trust you built it great and have faith in your motor. I know a lot of people say these 2 strokes can’t go long distances and aren’t made for that but I disagree, if you build it for what your going to use it for then you’ll be good. That’s why I don’t build super high horse power builds with high rpm but instead do high torque from a dig with good cruising speeds.

    Well the yd is were I cut my teeth so to speak but where you buy and which you buy really depends on your skill level. If your good with your hands and can do a few simple things but the absolutely cheapest one you can find like me. If not then buy the most expensive one from a big name place like go max or something. Or just talk with me and I’ll build you one and you’ll have many trouble free miles. Like me and Benny.

    I realize you're long past the need for tubes n/or spray foam but just so you n you're audience know, n this is something you could have with you on such a trip, it's worked for me before with a fist sized hole in the tire and tube...take and roll up a good sized towel n stuff it into the tire like it was the tube(I imagine a pool noodle or foam hose insulation would work well as well) and secure the tire to the rim with bailing wire, zip ties, or string or rope(to keep it from slipping on the rim...through the spokes n between the tread... Remember...where there's a will, there's a way. Stay safe n keep the rubber side down👇🏼 🤙🏼

    Hope I can get my bike to take long trips like that. With insurance for my car and out of work from injury's hoping surgery makes me able to go back to work. So I get nothing from the state for help but I do side jobs to get by. I do have enough cash saved to do my build but I just want a reliable ride for long trips bro.

  • @JMB676

    @JMB676

    Жыл бұрын

    Well what I gotta say about reliability with these bikes is this, because I recently learned this lesson the hard way because of some idiot friends. But you can one percent use one of these 2strokes for reliable transportation like me BUT if you are not good with you hands or mechanically inclined then a four stroke is much more forgiving for the novice builder and rider. I understand what these motors can do and how much you can’t or can’t push them and you see I push them more often then not but if you build it like I build my motors and your honest with what you want it to do then it will last a long time. If you meet that criteria then the best but easiest 2 strip he that reliable power out of it is the Yd100, but if ur confident and good at fixing and setting stuff up then the iron sleeve is the best and longest lasting hands down but requires way more initial work to get to that point of reliable sustainability. If you can’t do those things then a four stroke is just simply more forgiving. Now there’s way more to all of this and if you want to really talk about it please hit me up in our Facebook group and we can talk.
