Your attitude is awesome, I worked at my local airport (DTW) for 12 years, in that time I have seen far to many pilots put more effort into trying to come up with any reason to time out so they will not have to operate a flight that they do not want to, then just doing the flight. I hope your upgrade comes soon, you will do great!

CONGRATULATIONS ON BECOMING A CAPTAIN!!! Captain Ernie!!! The first time I visited an Airline cockpit was on Southwest in 2007! I have now built this habit of visiting cockpits before and/or after EVERY flight I take! I have had quite some amazing experiences in the cockpits!! I've done a Discovery Flight before and LOVED it!!

Yet another great video! If you're open to suggestions for video content, I would love to see you do a video showing various briefings. From the initial preflight planning in the pilot's lounge to the briefings you might have with the flight attendants, etc. I've always wondered about the behind the scenes aspects of the job. As an asipring pilot in my 40's wanting to fly for SWA, I honestly think something like that would be a huge benefit.

Ernie, does Southwest use retractable ldg lights for TO and LDG? Many airlines have stopped using them as they're just an additional cost. Wondering what SW does.

Do you keep track of how far your walk? From the parking garage to the gate and then some days several terminals and then to the bus so you can go to the hotel, it might be several miles.

Question, how specifically do you find out if you've been re-routed? Do you get a text on your phone or does someone walk into the cockpit and tell you?

Congrats on the Command. I take it you had a C5/KC135 Command? I can email you some scenarios etc I used to use. What is the process? Our first Command was when I did it (if on type) 3 days in the sim for left seat, current six month 2 day sim check, 20 sectors, pre command sim, another bunch of sectors then the final check which was a sim ride and then a 2 day route check
