Lone Survivor - Featurette: "A Look Inside"

Coming Soon
www.lonesurvivorfilm.com
Based on The New York Times bestselling true story of heroism, courage and survival, Lone Survivor tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan. Faced with an impossible moral decision, the small band is isolated from help and surrounded by a much larger force of Taliban ready for war. As they confront unthinkable odds together, the four men find reserves of strength and resilience as they stay in the fight to the finish.
Mark Wahlberg stars as Marcus Luttrell, the author of the first-person memoir "Lone Survivor," whose book has become a motivational resource for its lessons on how the power of the human spirit is tested when we are pushed beyond our mental and physical limits. Starring alongside Wahlberg as the other members of the SEAL team are Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster.
Lone Survivor is written and directed by Peter Berg, who again crafts a striking portrait of the unbreakable bonds between men that he first explored in Friday Night Lights. www.lonesurvivorfilm.com

Marcus, if you main mission after the op was to keep the memory of your brothers alive, I think you have completed that. Between the people who either read or is reading the book and the people who are going to watch the movie. I think the memory of your brothers will never be forgotten.

I personally think this is a great movie, but dont forget the other hero in this movie, Mohammed Gulab, one of the pashtun villagers who saved Marcus. He was risking his life , his family and the life of all the other pashtun villagers to protect Marcus. I am really impressed by these Pashtun Villagers who upheld their Pashtunwali tradition( their tribal code of honor) that teach them to provide help and shelter to those in need, even to strangers, that itself is something that Talibans dont have, and that's why the Pashtun villagers are against the Talibans. These villagers, what they did is truly honorable, really open your eyes that not all Afghan people are evil bastards, because not all of them like Talibans, some of them actually hate Talibans. It's also amazing to see that in the end Gulab and Marcus become close friends, Marcus even took him few times to his home in Texas, and he's even trying to get him a green card. It's an unlikely friendship, there's a language barrier between them, but somehow they could make it work. I am not American, but to me this is a great movie, it was told the way it happened from Marcus's point of view, It's not a propaganda at all. It's just a story about 4 navy seal men doing a recon job to locate one of the Taliban leaders, that didn't go as planned. As Marcus said in his documentary and his book, he wrote it to honor his fallen comrades, who also happen to be his close friends.

These are the ideal warriors. and a perfect example of the Western way of war from the ancient Greeks to Afghanistan. They train, their ready to engage when called upon, and if need be die in the performance of their mission. Though their first priority is to make sure that the enemy die first. "Give them nothing, but take from them everything". .

another plausbale option would have been to get to high/open ground with the prisoners, (escort them) to the call/lz area. and then once the bird arrives, cut them loose and be on thier way. i was saying this in the theatre im not criticising at all, just telling of another way it couldve been done with no casualties either way.

Awesome movie! Loved it! It really captured the suffering these guys went through on that mountain. They have joined a elite group of warriors who stood their ground and fought to the death, from the 300 at thermapoly to the texans at the alamo, lord katsumoto in 1877 Japan against imperial oppresion, and the polish resitance in Warsaw 1944. I only wish i could have been there to fight with fellow patriots and freedom lovers!

Brilliant film, i'd say they depicted scenes of war fights to the best they can to make it realistic as possible. The scenes where they jump from the top of the mountain and role heavily down to the bottom was my favourite scene. The camera work and effects done a great jump i honestly felt all the shit they went through. Story was great too, loved the relationship between his comrades/friends as well as the scenes where Marcus meets the Afghan pupil who saved him from his awful day; however i would have loved it if they provided more scenes with them or what had happened when he took the Afghan to Texas with him etc. Still a great film, enjoyed it from start to finish. PS i dislike Mark Wahlberg and his shitty acting but he won me over with this one. Great Job haha

yeah there was a lot of things in the movie that were different from the book but you have to remember that they were not going to be able to include everything that happened because the movie is only two hours and marcus said the actual gunfight was about three hours and he was stuck out there for 5 or 6 days and he even said in an interview there was some stuff he had to leave out of the book as well due to classification reasons but however I still think it was an awesome and intense sad story and hopefully people will begin to realize what our troops go through everyday over there and when they have to make tough decisions like these four did and maybe respect our troops a lot more.

If you are a sober person, you would recognize that this guy was almost out, and that Afghan man saved his life although it cost him his cosine’s life, and his house was burned out. Why? Because he just wanted to save a stranger. . . . The Afghan man deserved the Medal of Honor, and the movie should be on HIM. They say when it comes to Money and Fame, you would get blind. They are absolutely right, unless you are paralyzed or drunk. If you can look inside.....

There was this other 'thing' called laundered drug money through the banking cartels. Check the levels of opium production in Afghanistan before the invasion and today. When are people going to wake up? Nevermind, silly question.
