Lone Survivor - Featurette: "A Look Inside"
Coming Soon
www.lonesurvivorfilm.com
Based on The New York Times bestselling true story of heroism, courage and survival, Lone Survivor tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan. Faced with an impossible moral decision, the small band is isolated from help and surrounded by a much larger force of Taliban ready for war. As they confront unthinkable odds together, the four men find reserves of strength and resilience as they stay in the fight to the finish.
Mark Wahlberg stars as Marcus Luttrell, the author of the first-person memoir "Lone Survivor," whose book has become a motivational resource for its lessons on how the power of the human spirit is tested when we are pushed beyond our mental and physical limits. Starring alongside Wahlberg as the other members of the SEAL team are Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster.
Lone Survivor is written and directed by Peter Berg, who again crafts a striking portrait of the unbreakable bonds between men that he first explored in Friday Night Lights. www.lonesurvivorfilm.com

Marcus, if you main mission after the op was to keep the memory of your brothers alive, I think you have completed that. Between the people who either read or is reading the book and the people who are going to watch the movie. I think the memory of your brothers will never be forgotten.

Marcus look at me never out of the fight
I personally think this is a great movie, but dont forget the other hero in this movie, Mohammed Gulab, one of the pashtun villagers who saved Marcus. He was risking his life , his family and the life of all the other pashtun villagers to protect Marcus. I am really impressed by these Pashtun Villagers who upheld their Pashtunwali tradition( their tribal code of honor) that teach them to provide help and shelter to those in need, even to strangers, that itself is something that Talibans dont have, and that's why the Pashtun villagers are against the Talibans. These villagers, what they did is truly honorable, really open your eyes that not all Afghan people are evil bastards, because not all of them like Talibans, some of them actually hate Talibans. It's also amazing to see that in the end Gulab and Marcus become close friends, Marcus even took him few times to his home in Texas, and he's even trying to get him a green card. It's an unlikely friendship, there's a language barrier between them, but somehow they could make it work. I am not American, but to me this is a great movie, it was told the way it happened from Marcus's point of view, It's not a propaganda at all. It's just a story about 4 navy seal men doing a recon job to locate one of the Taliban leaders, that didn't go as planned. As Marcus said in his documentary and his book, he wrote it to honor his fallen comrades, who also happen to be his close friends.
Such a compelling story. Glad to see these guys honored with this film. Can't wait to see it!
“I’ve been around the world twice, talked to everyone once. I’ve been to three world fairs. I am a hard bodied, hairy-chested, rootin, tootin, shootin, parachutin, demolition double cap crimping Frogman. There ain’t nothing I can’t do. No sky too high, no sea too rough, no Muff to tough. I’ve learned a lot of lessons in my life. Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet. I drive all kinds of trucks. 2x’s, 4x’s, 6x’s even those big trucks that bend and go TSSHHTT TSSHHTT when you step on the brakes. Anything in life worth doing is worth overdoing. Moderation is for cowards. I’m a lover, I’m a fighter, I’m a UDT/SEAL Diver. If your feeling froggy than you better jump because this Frogman has been there, done that and is going back for more.”

These are the ideal warriors. and a perfect example of the Western way of war from the ancient Greeks to Afghanistan. They train, their ready to engage when called upon, and if need be die in the performance of their mission. Though their first priority is to make sure that the enemy die first. "Give them nothing, but take from them everything". .

another plausbale option would have been to get to high/open ground with the prisoners, (escort them) to the call/lz area. and then once the bird arrives, cut them loose and be on thier way. i was saying this in the theatre im not criticising at all, just telling of another way it couldve been done with no casualties either way.

@@misterpinz I literally thought that as I was watching it the first time aswell👍 I would've thought that their so physically fit worst case scenario they could've carried them along till they made radio contact. There was after all 3 Afghan goat herders and 4 SEAL's.That would be a good question for the man himself. Wonder if that got brought up in their discussion as an option?
Thank you marcus for telling the story ...Thank you for making everyone around the world know how brave u guys were ...
This was such an amazing movie! 10/10 A Must see.
Love American soldiers...Love SEALS. I am crying watching this movie. I am a Canadian kid.
I don't understand how come there are 30 dislikes. This is a brilliant movie. These seals are made to go through the worst situations and to be the toughest individuals in the world so that we can sleep peacefully. You can't blame them for why they are sent to these kill zones. if you can't support them please don't disrespect them by disliking this video - period.
Gonna be an amazing movie and tribute to these men and their families!!!
Just to awesome...... Honor and Respect... Live 2 tell and get it right... HOOOYAAA...
I've been waiting for this movie since I read the book. Simply amazing. Honor, friendship, sweat and blood. Brothers not always share the same last name.
Thank you Marcus. One of your squad is my cousin. And I thank you for this tribute.
thank you navy seals i read you r book an loved it thank u Marcus later i would love to serve this country as well
I watched this movie tonight and it was amazing. One of the best films I have ever seen.
This is a great war movie. We can never give up, fight till the end and die to protect our brothers. Murphy, Dietz, Axelson, & Luttrell True Warriors Hats Off.
Thats when you know the true brotherhood❤❤❤ Hats off!!!
Just the previews for this movie give me chills
Went to high school with Marcus... Good job sir. Keep up the good work.
With great actors. From Brazil,I can't wait to see.
"Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know" Carry on.
I will always remember these men.
IM I LOVE WITH YOUR BOOK "SERVICE A NAVY SEAL AT WAR"
very nice movie :) i saw it!!! your the man Lt. mike murphy.. thank you for giving ur life to save ur brothers..RIP and to marcus and to ur brothers u will never be forgatten.. i love the movie :)
Awesome movie! Loved it! It really captured the suffering these guys went through on that mountain. They have joined a elite group of warriors who stood their ground and fought to the death, from the 300 at thermapoly to the texans at the alamo, lord katsumoto in 1877 Japan against imperial oppresion, and the polish resitance in Warsaw 1944. I only wish i could have been there to fight with fellow patriots and freedom lovers!
I can not wait to see this movie reading his book about the fight they were in and how those man kept fighting being shot blown up and falling off a mountain was amazing the courage they had!
this is a good movie, it is worth to see it
This is going to be awesome.
So excited!! I went the the Patriot Tour twice. Really hoping the movie does Marcus and the book justice.
Indeed your job is done brother .......
It was a really good movie to go see it again...
This is by far the best book i have ever read. My second time reading it was better than the first time. I think this is going to be the defining moment in Mark Wahlberg's career.
Cannot wait! Emerica!
I CANT WAIT!
man i cant wait for the movie to come out, lone survivor is my favorite book....... hurry!!!
Need more stories like this people want to know.
Such an amazing book
This is very touching, a true inspiration, not wanna be singer overdose or some rapper getting rich.
This is a great story
That's a great feeling to know the bullets flying over your head are shot by you teammate who is protecting you. SEALs fear death, but their training conditions them to care for their team mates. The guy who star quarterback in high school who is rising to the occasions in BUDs, he will be the first one to go.
Peter Burg, please include as much as possible in the special features of the DVD/blueray. Hell divide the special features into a complete separate disc and just load it up full with deleted scenes and interviews, everything man!
Mark and the guy from Battleship, great Movie
cant..........wait
This is amazing
i cannot wait. =)
Must Say, looks pretty damn good.
Everyday we believe that our life is unfair and hard, it is true at times. It's men went through hell, they have combated for each other. The story of these brothers in arms is a great lesson for all those who serve their country no matter where they are in the free world. God bless Navy Seals and all soldiers who protect and defend freedom around the world, as well as everyday Firefighter and Police Officer.
I realy like this movie.
got a lot of faith in Wahlberg in this movie
It seems to be a heroic story and a wonderful movie with many gaet actors.
thanks Marcus (SDVT-1)
Brilliant film, i'd say they depicted scenes of war fights to the best they can to make it realistic as possible. The scenes where they jump from the top of the mountain and role heavily down to the bottom was my favourite scene. The camera work and effects done a great jump i honestly felt all the shit they went through. Story was great too, loved the relationship between his comrades/friends as well as the scenes where Marcus meets the Afghan pupil who saved him from his awful day; however i would have loved it if they provided more scenes with them or what had happened when he took the Afghan to Texas with him etc. Still a great film, enjoyed it from start to finish. PS i dislike Mark Wahlberg and his shitty acting but he won me over with this one. Great Job haha
wow awesome
Hooya!
Thank you for keeping your brother's memory alive. I know I can sleep easy tonight because men like Marcus have said "Not on my watch".
very intense story
Great movie
Saw the sneak peak at naval base coronado, was amazing
Can't wait to see how beast Danny Dietz is gonna be portrayed
Marcus was on set supervising. I don't think it will be a screw up...
if at at boot camp im so telling my staff sargent to take us to watch that movie!!
it was actually a really good movie
yeah there was a lot of things in the movie that were different from the book but you have to remember that they were not going to be able to include everything that happened because the movie is only two hours and marcus said the actual gunfight was about three hours and he was stuck out there for 5 or 6 days and he even said in an interview there was some stuff he had to leave out of the book as well due to classification reasons but however I still think it was an awesome and intense sad story and hopefully people will begin to realize what our troops go through everyday over there and when they have to make tough decisions like these four did and maybe respect our troops a lot more.
I wanna watch it
somebody know what kind of monocular they used? thank
Seriously greatest war movie I've seen, even better than American Sniper.
Okay..if the Dietz they mention in this is Danny, he was my second cousin. I can't wait to see this and get a glimpse of his story. You'd better do this thing right.
Im interested in hearing how things were exaggerated, or how this penned book/movie adaption is different than what really happened. I'm genuinely interested. My father is an Iraq war vet, and when he was deployed I was too young to actually understand and now im interested in learning more (of course the hard part is how to approach and ask him about it, he got a bronze star, does that mean he saw combat?) I actually want to know and understand more about the war and I dont know where to start?
Mis Respetos a Lt. Michael Murphy y a todos los Navy Seal.
Pashtunwali A code of honor to protect a stranger from enemies whatever it takes I am a pashtun
I loved the book. I just hope Hollywood doesn't screw the movie up.
They did what was morally right to the farmers, but to buy themselves more time they could have tied all of the them to the old man so that they all had to go at his pace.

this is such a brilliant idea, wow I guess when your in that situation your forced to think fast and not think twice unlike us who get to think over the situation a bit. but also with your idea, the farmers had to go down hill and would be very dangerous so I guess they couldn't risk that option anyway.

LikeABosss97 I wouldn't need to think. I would have shot them. Not that I would want to, but better them then me or my teammates. The Rules of Engagement and Geneva Convention has cost many American lives. You should only need to follow it if your enemy does and I don't think the Taliban is willing to negotiate on that.

whats the song @ like 2:08 - 2:20?
interesting! I wonder how that will bode with the films release. I'll have to look into this further. Can I look this brief up in just a simple Google search? This reminds me a little of how the Army tried to cover up how Pat Tillman died. I feel dumb for asking this but, what is 'Fairchild'?
Yea, people like that just really get under my skin I bet they respect celebrities more than actual heros, who dont worry about fame or money.
how close is the C-130 when it's on station for air support? Assume has to be 20 miles away
Next SEAL related movies coming up: American Sniper (Chris Kyle biopic) and HOPEFULLY The Battle of Takur Ghar aka Roberts Ridge.
This movie won't make a lot of money since people been watching it online when this won't come out later in January.... Yes, it's a good good movie since it's base on a true story....
Marcus is kinda like that storyteller Spartan Dilios from 300.
It is Danny
WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN
Fight on, my men, I am hurt, but I am not slain; I'll lay me down and bleed a while, and then I'll rise and fight again
Lets all take a second to remember all those have died and died today that where ever they are, that they are safe. To anyone who wants to comment any relative who died in any war. Put there name and rank and what branch of military they were in and I will post all there names on google+, twitter, and youtube, so that others can pray for your family members who have fought and died for one thing,,, to protect us. This is a project I plan on working on for a while so please help me out here.
his story always changes, its one way in the book totally different in interviews and again completely different in movie

I wouldn't blame him for the movie version. Parts of the movie were probably changed by the director and writers to fit into their story. Artistic license.
@Bobby_boucher31

They changed certain things in the movie on purpose, Like Marcus having to crawl 10+ miles wasn't portrayed in the movie. Also, the rescue mission happened at night, and there was a lot more crazy shit that went down when they did rescue him than what we were shown in the movie.

I read the book and it sounds like Marcus is a terminator I actually counted how many he claimed to have killed and it comes around number 60 +- and that is just him alone all the team members combined its over like 300, now I have friend who is in that comunity and who told me when I asked him about it that both movie and book are utter bullshit
@Bobby_boucher31

Who is your friend? He claims to be a SEAL correct? I call bullshit on his story. You should too. What was his BUD/s class then? His diving buddy? Foreign O in his class? Teams he was assigned to? (many lulz if he says Team 6). Hit up Don Shipley and confirm whether or not he actually was a SEAL because he doesn't sound like he was at all.

Hi
to all people this story is FUCKING REAL if you watch the whole movie until the end they let see all the names of the people who died there so show a little bit of respect
If you are a sober person, you would recognize that this guy was almost out, and that Afghan man saved his life although it cost him his cosine’s life, and his house was burned out. Why? Because he just wanted to save a stranger. . . . The Afghan man deserved the Medal of Honor, and the movie should be on HIM. They say when it comes to Money and Fame, you would get blind. They are absolutely right, unless you are paralyzed or drunk. If you can look inside.....
