The funny thing is Loki hasn't changed. This version of Loki we got in the show is brand new. This new Loki is who he is because he was shown what ends up happening to his other self after the events of New York. (Dark World, Ragnarok, and ultimately his heroism and death at the hands of Thanos). We all love him none-the-less. lol

I think Loki’s decision to use the tesseract caused this not Hulk hitting tony with the door. Edit: I’m saying this because if you were to go back to the original avengers I highly doubt they let Hulk on the elevator the first time. Yea same here, when I heard that, I took it as like "my variants are coming and you'll see them soon" type of thing. Like "I'll see you soon, but it won't exactly be me."

For everyone who can't comprehend why Kang wasn't the massive evil you expected of him; he's not supposed to be. This version is the matured Kang, who wanted to end the multiversal wars, to protect the timeline from his own variants. He's the one who grew into the position of 'He Who Remains'. The variants much preferred conquering and chaos, to order. To simplify it, consider the fact that there were two versions of Thanos. The older one didn't put up a fight when the avengers showed up, died easily; but the younger Thanos simply wanted all the power and control.

You know, Loki has always been excellent at seeing the bigger picture. He did it when he saw Thor wasn’t ready for the throne, he did it when he sacrificed himself for Thor so he could live on to fight Thanos, and I’m not surprised to see him almost do it here either

You'd have to think that there may be multiple universes where Kang has all of the stones, or other sources of power that are immense enough to make the entirety of that universe bow to his whim. So, even if Dr. Strange used the time stone, he would only see the possible futures effecting that universe. There also isn't any lore that I've found saying that if a time stone is used in one universe, then you'd also be able to see Kang show up from another universe just to crush him, so that could also be a possibility. Point Being, even the time stone is futile against Kang, ESPECIALLY Kang/Immortus that has weaponized Alioth.

i was wondering the same thing, beating thanos is not a big thing, as we saw wanda or captain marvel alone can beat him. But Dr. strange must have seen kang and more, That is the reason Strange didn't show up during Wandavision as it was all meant to be.

Since the TVA is situated outside of the normal multi dimensional timelines, there is only one version of it. I don't think its accurate to say that Lokii was thrust back to an alternate timeline of the TVA. More likely the TVA itself has been rewritten due to Sylvie killing Kang and therefore the cycle of his events unfolds anew.

This. We dont know for sure if it's the same, younger Kang, or a variant. But Loki is sent back to a younger TVA, being guided by a younger Kang. Notice they were talking about what "he wants", and not the time keepers.

Time was reset, this was kangs plan all along to become a bigger badder version of himself, and even if there are a infinite amount of kangs, each one has the same end goal of becoming “the one who remains” to control aliath and create the TVA to continue his work of a looping time line with no branch’s, or war. So the kang we saw here knew sacrifice for his own life was necessary, so you could honestly link thanos mindset with kangs, they are both mad men but when you get past the slaughtering of innocent lives you can kind of understand why they are doing what they are doing.

The TVA in the end didn’t seem too dictatorshipish lol. People dressed pretty casual and there wasn’t any doom and gloom decorations. Just that statue that doesn’t look that evil. I have seen carebears(if you don’t know what a carebear is your too young to have an opinion or your not from america lol) look more angry than that. Immortis called loki a villain but loki is not a villain… he is both hero and villain. Mass manipulation going on here… definately entertaining

One thing everyone seems to have missed is the reference in the whole building to the Japanese art of kintsugi, in which broken objects are mended with gold. It's meant to show how broken things can be made better than they were originally, not in spite of being broken but _because_ of it.

His character development had been great. He displays contrition when shown the atrocities he has committed and really wants to be better.

I have a theory: Sylvie wasn’t wrong, and He Who Remains wasn’t telling the whole truth. I think he is in love with Ravona and his sacred timeline is the only one where he can be with her for a brief period, thats why Miss Minutes tells Ravonna “he thinks these files will be much more helpful” She probably goes to see a younger Nathaniel Richards before he is he who remains, they are together but it can only happen in this way in this timeline. I mean dude lives on a rock that is shaped like Ravona’s head plus the name on her degree when B15 goes to her time says “Rebecca Tourmennte” a character also tied to a previous iteration of Kang. Marvel might be giving a Villan the origin story that their Captain America had (Missed out on that dance with Peggy Carter, find a timeline where we’re together)

I guess. The actor's performance was a bit underwhelming for me. I know he's technically not Kang, but I expected more. I don't doubt Majors has talent, but this wasn't one of those cases for me.

I was wrong man. I can’t believe they finally took a chance in one of their tv shows and presented an HUGE big bad in Kang. After the Mephisto flop and Zola Train derailment they really did it. I didn’t think they would. I was mistaken. Very cool!

I’m starting to wonder if the Kang we saw was actually an evil Kang that was pretending to be Immortus. The way he placed the TempPad on the desk seemed like he wanted Sylvia to take it, as if he did actually know what was going to happen. His motivation for this would be that he actually wanted the timeline to branch again so he could purposely bring back the war. That would also explain why they yanked Sylvie when she didn’t really seem to do anything, because he knew she’d go on to kill him.

This is incredibly thorough, diligent research and patience. Thank you so much for putting this together.

Loki is the best series so far, the story, acting, and themes. And we all know that Hiddleston can never fail us in his portrayal of Loki.

The MCU did Kang justice. The damage he does is unfathomable. There's an Incredible Hulk issue where Bruce ends up on an abandoned Kang world full of Mad Max-style acolytes who worship a robot Kang statue. Just an example of how powerful the character really is. So happy with the Loki finale.

He says "i'll see you soon" because she's about to deal with multiple versions of him warring with each other

If you really think about it, avengers started all of this by stealing the infinity stones from the past. Hulk's theory was not valid in the end. Even though they returned the stones to their own timelines, the small interruptions for example this one Loki's escape would lead to unexpected consequences... Hence, here comes the Multiverse of Madness! It's just like the butterfly effect, small changes in initial conditions can lead to unpredictable variation in the future. Ancient One was right all along, you don't interrupt the flow of time, even just a little bit.

So maybe if you watched Disney+ you go into phase 4 knowing what’s going to happen. But if you didn’t you’ll go into phase 4 knowing just as much as the characters until it’s finally revealed to them how exactly this madness happened. Probably will be explained in doctor strange 2

Fun little detail: so far, every LOKI titlecard has had some sort of ticking in the soundtrack, as a symbol for time. In this episode however, since were technically out of time, there is no ticking, no resembling time flowing.

To casual watchers, this isn't Kang. The only name someone calls him is He Who Remains which is why that's who he is credited as. It's only Kang because all the super nerds know the actor is set to play him in Ant-Man 3. Also I was expecting another Loki variant, King Loki from Jason Aaron's King Thor series. I honestly thought Marvel was not going to reveal a major villain in a Disney+ show. Kang is someone you expect to be a Thanos size villain spanning multiple movies so his debut is important.

The difference in our Loki and the other Lokis is that he’s always paying attention to the situation and learning from it. You see how mostly quiet he was and when he would talk its mostly inquiring questions. As more Sylvie she was just blinded by revenge and rage and couldnt see what Loki was seeing.

Thats one way to look at it, i took it as, "you guys have absolutely no idea what you have gotten yourselves into." I saw the flea as Loki obvi, and the dragon as Kaang, because both the flea, and the dragon, are on a journey. Because at a certain point even kaang didnt know what was going to happen. So they are both on a journey. Kaang is obviously the dragon because he is way more experienced than the flea, Loki.

I had a thought after watching this the first time and came on all my favorite KZread channels and no one pointed this out. After rewatching, my thought is even more true. I considered Sylvie to be the villain of the series. She went on an entire journey and came out unchanged, she broke the timeline unleashing something worse, simply because she learned nothing....not even how to trust.

i kinda lost my sh*t when mobius and hunter b-15 didnt recognize loki, it feels like its been such a long time since i absolutely couldn't see anything coming or predict what's about to happen in a movie especially a marvel movie...i really cant wait for more loki

Apparently, he created the TVA just so more of himself won’t be created. Because he’s the source of the chaos resulting in the Multiversal war. And now the multiverse is on a crash course to the second one.

A couple definitions of madness: - A state of frenzied or chaotic activity. (chaos) - Behavior or thinking that is very foolish or dangerous (impulsive/reckless) - Extreme folly (mischief) In my mind, it kinda describes Loki and the variants of Loki. Since the first time we see Loki onscreen, we don't know what to make of the character. It's when slowly he reveals himself to be cunning, manipulative & apathetic do we see the danger as he becomes a villain. The actor Tom Hiddleson has done an effective job maybe without realizing it, of making him a likable villain. He manages to milk the quips with Thor & others (especially Hulk). Had he been killed or not taken back to Asgard this may not have happened. We saw the character's evolution. The audience knows the future. The Loki at the beginning was the 'old' Loki. Watching his future unfold changed him. How? Well, of all the Lokis except classic, alligator & kid no one changed. All out for themselves, focused on their story, these guys were willing to sacrifice & save. Did anyone notice Loki wasn't joking/bantering around anymore? He was more serious, patient & gentle? He put his needs behind Sylvie's. Sylvie had the mindset at times of a child. That entire scene in den got quieter. What were they on. was it been slowly, moving to the end? Sylvie & Loki not know? Kang was manic talkative, then didn't know anything & grew quiet. Sylvie became more erratic. Were we bleeding in/out of timelines at this point? Were we seeing multi-Sylvies? All I kept thinking, she wanted to know why, then never asked. Not one time did she bring it up. She managed to think through getting past Alioh calmly, now is enraged & angry? It seemed excessive. There's more, that Kang knows. Reminded me of 'OUAT' where Rumplestiltskin scheme was to unload the wand. Miss Minutes gave Revonna info about start of this. Could it have started at that High School? Molecule man went there & possibly Revonna is linked to him?

I like the idea that the statues are from Kangs friends that he betrayed when his "one timeline" plan was finished, the destroyed statue is HIS statue, destroyed in rage by himself because of his own actions.

"Kang/He who remains" being a non CGI character and acted so phenomenal making viewers understand who he truly has been in millions of years and what his variants are capable of, etc hands down I'm already his fan ❤️

It was a bit too exposition dumpy for me. Ideally his massive monologue could have been handled differently but you can't fault his acting or how he portrayed Nathaniel Richards' egotistical and pragmatic personality with just the right amount of emotional instability. Unfortunately the writers have created a significant plot hole with some sloppy writing. The fact is that since Sylvie is a female Loki then it means Odin took a baby girl from Jotenheim rather than a baby boy, so the timeline would have branched at that moment a long time ago. So it should be impossible for the TVA to show up to delete a timeline which has been active for years.

Is kang physically powerful ? Like thanos . I mean was that a weak version of kang in Episode 5 ?

@@antoniobyrd6239 Kang is just a human with better technology, nowhere near Skyfather level Thanos. Thanos with the Heart of the Universe is the most powerful being ever to have existed in marvel comics history.

Great recap! I ran a Loki series relationship analysis on my channel, but I love seeing things from this perspective too.

The version of Kang we saw wasn't Kang the Conqueror, although he was the one who won the battle of the Kangs and took control of the time stream thereby stopping the other Kangs from ever existing. When he was killed, that cause the time lines to start branching out and will in effect create more versions of Kang in the 31st Century. One of those versions of Kang then took over the timestream and pruned all the other timelines to ensure he became the only version of Kang. This new version of Kang will be the one we see in the next Ant-Man movie and I imagine he will be a lot different to the version we've seen.
