Don't understand why all MCU content can't be as good as Loki is

Man, Jonathan Majors nearly had me in tears by the end of the episode. Because it struck me that Victor Timely was trying to plead for his life, but because he has a speech impediment, you could see the despair and anguish -- and tears -- on his face as his body was seemingly working against him to keep him from being spared by Sylvie. And that predicament just tore my heart out. And at that point, had Sylvie killed him, I would have angrily regarded her as a villain. This powerful scene made me a firm believer in Jonathan Majors' ability to act.

When young Kang received the TVA manual he was not doing an experiment, he was making candles by pouring melted wax into a tin candle mold. You can see some of these candles burning in the room around him. I would say that he made candles for his family's use and for selling.

The director for this episode did an amazing job! Lots of long takes of people interacting and talking. The set was so real and lived in. There is more extras on the episode than the entire most MCU films.

At this point, we have to admit that LOKI is the best non-movie Marvel series. Additionally, Jonathan Majors is proving to be one of the best actors of our generation. His range is excellent. He is literally a new person in every role and his performances are almost flawless. So far the best non-movie Marvel series are (Loki, Daredevil, Agents of Shield, and Jessica Jones)

This is Tara Strong’s opus… she’s been in the game way too long and now this is her introduction to the world and I absolutely love it.

Seeing last season’s Loki’s variants makes me think of how our show’s star Loki has matured and recognizes the importance of stabilizing the time line and restoring the multiverse. Loki is like over a thousand years old so it took some time. 😅 Also didn’t see coming Miss Minutes having her serious crush.

@@Sunstar808 I do think her intent was to manipulate him. But in which way I am not 100% certain. I think it is highly likely as an inhuman AI, she was unaware of how creepy she would come across. Instead she was probably thinking how he could design her looks to his own preferences making her pretty much perfect for him. On other hand there is a chance that there is some crazy in depth plan that required him to go down this very path maybe to get Loki and friends to trust him and her and Renslayer to bond as spurned love interests.

Johnathan Majors is a BEAST. He's the perfect person to play Kang and all his Variants. These first 3 episodes have been AMAZING, crazy to think this show had 0 re-shoots. Let this team work on more Marvel projects 🔥🔥🔥

I think it’s more likely that Victor Timely, like all lang variants, was born in the far future. He Who Remains probably kidnapped a baby version of himself from the timeline and planted him in the 1860s as part of his “break glass in case of emergency” plan. This change created a branched timeline and this was confirmed when the worlds fair was labeled a “branched timeline” by the shows writers. I think this is much more likely than a king variant randomly being born in the mid 1800s

I’m already lost. I don’t follow everyone’s motivations. Renslayer and Loki want the same thing but they’re fighting. Renslayer wants Kang to rise but also wants to kill him, which also what Sylvie wants. Sylvie wants to kill Renslayer but she doesn’t.

You gotta remember, the future versions of Kang are the natural birth times of Kang. I assume (and this can be argued) that Kang selected some variants from branched timelines (in the future) to be extracted and dropped as a baby into the past. Sleeper agents. Either selecting the mothers and placing them or the baby itself. While still on the sacred timeline, that's just the big branched timeline Kang selected as the "one" timeline. They are all the same, but only one has Kang's support. Or fairly, a few jumping off branches to get to the one timeline Kang wants.

The thing is the story is incoherent. If sacred timeline was protected by the one who remains, I am sure he would have planted protection for his child self. Since he either pruned and won against all other timelines, there's not supposed to be another birthed Kang or a planted variant(it would become a Nexus event). The branch timeline would only start from the moment Kang died which can only mean the time loop restarted and Kang is birthed/rebirthed? If that's the case, Avengers statement about time travel now is in play: "If you travel to the past, that past becomes your future, and your former present becomes the past, which can't now be changed by your new future.". Which means that at least one branch of the variant timeline will survive (in 1 branch baby Kang gets killed or otherwise, in another baby Kang gets protected by himself as a grown up). It's just a whole lot of weird plot holes.

This series is top notch and very dare I say timely. Now it would be an absolute shame if it isn’t nominated for an Emmy. Along with every department involved! P.S. Love the scene with Mobius & Loki being sleuths especially with him saying, “Thor’s not that tall.” Was his way of saying I miss my brother.

Everyone is talking about the other actors but I just want to point out how impressed I am by Tom Hiddleston’s love and excitement for the character after all those years and movies. He doesn’t seem tired of doing it or whatsoever and he keeps adding to Loki without changing his essence (especially this season that the writers gave him back his powers). His acting has the same energy as that young god who attacked New York but now he’s using it for good,a glorious purpose indeed.

This episode was absolutely phenomenal loved the acting of Jonathan majors as victor timely, he definitely brought something new to a kang variant ,and I really like this character.

I hope we see more variants of Kang in this season because the way Jonathan Majors portrayed Victor Timely I want to see how he’d do as the other Kangs outside of a minute long mid credits scene

It seems to me that he is purposely playing each Kang so far in certain extremes just because he is preparing to do as many Kangs as they need. He is leaving behind a range of acting choice options on purpose.

I absolutely think Miss Minutes could be this season's villain, but we still need an explanation of how OB and Kang knew one another, he seems too special to just be another variant.

Man Jonathan Major is a damn good actor.. this episode was amazing … his character at this point in time can’t manage people well ….and couldn’t satisfy both miss minutes and renslayers egos…. He who remained wasnt just about intelligent but he knew how to get people to do whatever he needed to do no matter what it is.. this variant can’t and it blew up in his face..

Victor Timely Kang is now my new favorite character, Jonathan Majors acting for Victor Tomely was amazing. I hope we get to see more of him

It was never Sylvie’s fault that the timeline branched, if Revonna gave young He Who Remains the guidebook directly after she left the TVA, it created a nexus event resulting in Victor Timely. It was Miss minutes and Renslayer who caused the timeline to branch because she left the TVA before He Who Remains died

I think Ms. Minutes will find a evil variant of Kang that will give her a body seeing that Victor Timely isn't interested in the same activities that he who remains was into, AND allow the evil Kang to bypass the TVA's defenses and control/destroy/manipulate the sacred timeline. The body he gives her may be Renslayer's body and replace her consciousness with Ms. M's betraying Renslayer to get what she wants and getting rid of her competition.

Miss minutes was built outta boredom at the end of time. He was all alone humans need social interaction or u go insane trust me in almost there myself. He needed something to converse with and play chess. Then she evolved and was more useful than simple ai. She traveled from the end of time to the tva past.

At first I didn't think or want mm to related to Ultron in any way. But now that I ponder it , it makes alot of sense that Kang would borrow/steal tech from time like he does in marvel history. This scientist story he gives us from end of time doesn't line up to his comic origins. He was a bored kid from the future were technology solves everything does everything for them. Nobody fights, touches each other like hugs kiss reproduce, I bet they give birth thru tech, so he's bored and learned about the FF n avengers who had adventures n fought super villain's. He uses Dr dooms time platform to travel to ancient Egypt takes the name rama tut. He steals tech others built like tony,Reed, Dr doom. That's why Ultron would make sense maybe he changed it's programming to not be evil but like time snapping back, Ultron's personality inevitably happens. Kang doesn't really invent anything he uses that others have invented like tony stark - Ultron. The tva temp pads/doorway portals were shown in Dr strange 2 with Reed Richards using them which makes sense Kang stole those or used the future versions of what Mr fantastic invented. MCU keeps changing their history for these films but it's not for the betterment

Amazing episode. I have my own take on this series so far in about chronologically way possible. 1. When Sylvie and Loki met HWR in the citadel, Renslayer already at the sacred timeline 1868, and the moment he dropped the TVA book, that's the cue of hearing the thunderous threshold in the citadel. 2. The dropped TVA book, is a nexus event, which caused what happens afterwards considered branch timelines. In real script of actual sacred timeline, the boy remains as he is and harmless. 3. The boy however have same trait with actual Kang, might be some reincarnation or share same temporal aura that defines his ambitous, intellectual and curiosity about time manipulation. It is just coincidence he do share the same face as Jonathan Major, so we actually really thought he is a kang. But essentially my take is anyone who has same blueprint of temporal aura (Kang's) is considered a variant and any nexus event could potentially be created because of that. 4. As one of the earliest nexus event and new branch occured (like i said the threshold at citadel is the same time with renslayer dropping the book), we can assume dox missed to prune earlier branch that already been branching. She might pruned 30% of the latest branches only. 5. Although shared the same temporal aura, which defines their base traits, there could be some distinction on how those variants view and handle things, we can see this on episode 5 as all variants of Loki in the void didn't share same moral compass as the main Loki. 6. With this come into mind, this victor timely in this episodev is the actual victor timely that is pure and didn't get any influenced what so ever apart from the tva book. Maybe some time in the 31st century, Kang indeed overtake victor timely persona because they both look same and Kang can easily manipulated and plant some back door shenanigans to fight the avengers in the future.

I still believe that it wasn't He Who Remains who was recorded calling Renslayer "a marvel." It was _a_ Kang variant, but it wasn't that one. Majors has been so particular about how every variant talks, they all have their own mannerisms and elocution. It sounds like the Kang that Ant-Man met in Quantumania, _not_ He Who Remains from Loki s1.

I think the Liberty Bell line is in reference to the bell being transported to the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. Not that the timeline has changed and the bells creation was delayed. We sent that bell all over the country. Where the cracks worsened and chips of it were broken off and stolen by people.

Man, I really hope Jonathan Majors stays, he nails the role of Kang.

yesss especially since the Devil in the White city movie has been set aside..been obsessed with the 93 expo since I saw a documentary on it. sooo cool

I hope this show sets a new tone on the future of the MCU... the way this show feels its how marvel should be. Less silly comedy and more mind blowing stuff. Awesome breakdown to the episode and I agree best 1 yet! Thanks for the amazing work you do... I still would like to see you do your own stories, you'd probably come up with something for the culture that would stick well.

I saw that Balder the Brave hint and was tickled, he was one of my favorite side characters back in the Thor comics. I noticed that Loki has been wearing a green tie as opposed to a typical TVA tie. This was a great episode, so many developments! When Victor cast off Renslayer in the lifeboat I knew that things were changing. And when Miss Minutes launched into her Evil Speech of Evil, that sealed it that plotlines were shifting. I knew would eventually become a big factor in the storyline but I didn't expect her to become the possible big bad of the series or of future movies.

A talking clock as a massive Avengers villain would be embarrassing….c’mon. Secret Wars should be Beyonder, Doom, etc…

I got the sense during the episode that as a child he was making candles not running experiments and then when he got the handbook the course of history was changed and a branch was created. I also think he who remains basically implanted a version of himself from the 1800s into the sacred timeline for this contingency and it’s not supposed to be the same variant of him. Just some of my thoughts after the episode! Great episode and great analysis as always!

This has been an extremely exciting season for me so far. I'm very interested to see what happens with Ms. Minute. Let the episodes continue!

My theory is Kang from Ant Man is the Prime Kang, which is one of the reasons the others banished him. And some how they inadvertently or purposely brings him back. I think Victor Timely is a versoin of He Who Remains that was planted in the past as a back up plan by himself.

I feel like Miss Minutes is really possessive of Kang right now (she was really jealous of Renslayer) so she might go on in the series to control Kang behind the scenes (it's a stretch but maybe one of the TVA higher ups like Dox is being puppeteered by her which is why they're acting weird), maybe eventually she could be pulling the strings of multiple powerful Kangs to make her a bigger threat

the honky-tonk piano rag marvel theme slapped. i would set that as my ringtone so fast when it becomes downloadable. i am also so impressed with how different each kang variant feels

Man, this episode was phenomenal!! It honestly might be my favorite one so far too!! I’m so excited for more episodes!!

I am 100000% on the renslayer is a kang variant train after this episode!!! That message Loki found in Ep1 makes so much sense now

No I think she is someone who he is attracted to across all time lines….. he wants her at his side in the sacred timeline but left her in charge of the TVA to somewhat satisfy her thirst for power …because he will not share the real power with anyone

Victor timely doesn’t actually technically need to be from that era, he could have been kidnapped young (or had his memory wiped) by another variant and dropped in that time.

It is absolutely mind blowing how amazing character Loki has become!

Absolutely love the soundtrack of this show’s usage of the theremin! Top notch!

This would be very interesting but I think Victor truly is Kang just waiting for the right time to strike

​@@Natta44He's not bumbling for no reason. He is African American at a time where knowledge was prohibited. He learned to read and write but it's a lil clunky just think about the time and history. I loved his performance as Victor and picked up on his labored speech. Also the usual accomodations could be race fueled as he isn't allowed in the boat with whites plus he often is running from buyers of his flawed inventions so he pays the boat person to hide him. Like usual, he said he sells in Chicago for tax reasons but builds his stuff in Milwaukee or across the lake.

He pulled his hand away from ravonna right when she said partners. Watched it again you'll notice that theme becoming a pattern leading him to be he who remains. He doesn't trust anyone nor want partners maybe cuz of race reasons he won't keep ownership since his race and the time he's born in being the late 1800s.

Every time Jonathan Majors is on the screen, I'm watching a master at work! He's do damn good! This is why he saved me from walking out of Antman 😂😂

I honestly don't think Miss Minutes will end up being the main Avengers villain but I do think she will be involved in the plot in a big way and they are clearly setting her up for more. Also with Renslayer when Miss Minutes tells her she is going to be angry when she finds out the secret about her it did make me think who could she secretly be, did He Who Remains Kang take a big comic book character like fro instance a XMEN character we havn't seen cast yet, BUT he did also refer to Renslayer as a "Marvel" in that recording in the TVA meaning she could also end up being a variant of Monica Rambeau before she gets her powers and becomes Photon, because we do have The Marvels movie coming out soon and that could be a way for them to tie it into the Loki season 2 plot as we are expecting to see the first incursion happen in that movie, so what happens to Renslayer in Loki S2 could be what causes an incursion.

Jonathan majors what an actor!! Loki and mobius nailed it as usual.. the best duo in Marvel right now>>❤

Indeed when they were all in that room right before sylvite showed up and Victor “Jonathan Majors” was being scared of vaporization was such a moment of great acting. I felt it, didn’t you. I was laughing and felt the intensity at the same time

I wouldn't be surprised if Kang knew this all will happen he knows how all these characters will turn based on their behavior but he's placed himself at enough key moments that he will just take control back eventually

This was by far the best episode & everything that everybody who was complaining had been wanting finally we got to see Victor timely an Sylvie! So much twist and turns every time you thought you knew how it would turn out it switched up I definitely did not see miss minute's becoming like a possessor stalker stage 5 Clinger girlfriend lmao

Yet it was a great build up to get us here. It’s amazing how the writing builds up to be explosive like this. You said something that was good about Ms Minutes. Although @emergencyawesome has been talking about Ms minutes having moments that was showing us the big bad wolf that she is Sylvia actually did the opposite after being aggressive . I did not see it that way until you expressed Ms Minutes stalker issues. Lol

My favorite part was 100% when Mobius showed up with the double bike 😂

I also think the chair that timely built in his house is a reference to Kangs Timechair that he uses to travel in between time. A hidden easter egg that you missed.

i hope in this season we see a flashback of he who remains and miss minutes before creating the tva and the mutiversel war just the 2 of them

And the opening music of Marvel Theme in old-time piano was genius!

Felt the World Fair was so much like the Stark Expo and Victor Timely was so much like Howard Stark. The ferris wheel reminded me of the stripped expo model Tony Stark conceived his new element from. Victor monologued like Tony Stark and Justin Hammer at the expo. Victor said he was limited by the tech of his time, like Howard said in his message to Tony. Walking around the fair felt like the expo that young Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes attended. Yes Miss Minutes is Ultron II in the making. Loved the Balder reference, was one of my favorite Norse characters in the comics. I think it was spelled Baldur though. It is strange how time still passes in the TVA, but it is outside time. I guess the analogy would be like being in an accelerating car and throwing a ball within. Speed is relative to the reference. Does the Kang Chair in his timeship in Antman Quantumania have a compartment for cold drinks?

Miss minutes went crazy in this one!!

I don't think they were referencing Loki not being adopted on that timeline. That's because this one branched when Victor timely received the book. And that was in the sacred timeline. And in the sacred one, Loki was adopted centuries before the book being a nexus event. So baldur being there is just a wink to his existence.

Baldur and loki have cool history in Norse mythology as well. Loki was jealous of him cuz everyone loves Baldur and baldurs mom made some pact with gods to make him invulnerable to all weapons since they cherished him so much. Loki tricks him with a snake bite killing him with venom. Also Baldur dying starts Ragnarok in myth as well.

This show is amazing, the acting, the directing, I cannot believe that they took us back to the room, the actual room, the timeline, in which the body of HE WHO REMAINS with his actual “REMAINS”😮WOW

18:20 you actually see Mobius and Loki later on that 2 seater bike when they catch up with Victor and Rensslayer.

There are various points that point out that Victor, Loki, Mobious, Ms. Minutes and others are on three sacred timeline.. so when he's approached by Rimslayer & Ms. Minutes, it isn't a different timeline.. whether his reaction to Rimslayer wanting to partner remains to be seen but initially, all this happens on the sacred timeline as if "He who remains" planned for all this

I believe the villain will turn out to be Ouroboros, OB is the only character I’ve seen that can be intellectually on a level with He Who Remains. Ms. Minutes as well as she’s a super advanced AI, but I think OB can program and reprogram her to his whims as easily as may Kang variant can. Could OB even be a Kang variant?

This! But if that was true, OB would be able to fix the Temporal Loom with his aura. But OB has to be KEY to the TVA as he wrote the TV manual !

I have a different interpretation: He Who Remains on the sacred timeline originated in the 31st century. This kid on the sacred timelines in the 1800s (maybe a Kang ancestor?) was never meant to be a Kang. But when they gave him the TVA book he became a Nexus event and became a Kang variant.

Yep. Hwr said to both Loki's at the end of time that one of them was a scientist who traveled to other worlds and met alternate versions of himself. At first it was friendly 'i like your mustache " but most of them didn't share the same morales. Kangs stole that tech and conquered time hence the time chair we saw him show Ravonna after major upgrades of course with the temporal device he had to get at his shop. The same device we saw in ant man 3. Kang stole that from Victor and was sucked into it at end of ant man which leads to that Kang who is prime Kang turning into .....BEYONDER Kang. I think at least.

This episode was great and making Ms. Minutes like a new Ultron is the right direction but in a very timey wimey certain point of view when she was Kang's Jarvis A.I. during the previous Multiverse War
