I truly loved this show and especially this episode. Loki's growth throughout these two seasons has been immaculate, and I enjoyed the bittersweet ending that he got.

Loki has become the God of Stories. Both seasons, but especially this one, is taking a lot from the “Agent of Asgard” run in the comics. Also, when Loki broke the loom, it mirrored the scene with old Loki in season 1-Glorious Purpose!!! Also, the loom turning to become a tree is meant to evoke the World Tree, Yggdrasil, from Norse Mythology. But now it’s the Cosmic Tree, maybe? Some people are predicting he will only be sitting at the end of time until Avengers Kang Dynasty/Avengers Secret Wars.

I think this series seems to explain why the multiverse exists at all in the MCU. HWR thought the only way for existence to survive was if he eliminated all other universes in order to destroy his variants who would destroy everything. Loki's solution to that problem, while preserving free will, is to use the enchantment magic to look into the timelines and pick and choose which ones to nurture and grow. The multiverse allows for free will and branching timelines, but it's no longer *all* timelines. You can see it with the first timeline he grabs...He starts to power it, but then lets it die. Timelines that lead to Kang taking over are left to wither, and the TVA monitors and prunes the ones that remain. Kangs still happen, but the timelines where he *wins* are left to die or pruned by the TVA. So the timelines become Yggdrasil, the world tree. (If you're not familiar with Norse mythology, this is very much a thing) It's a compromise. The World Tree allows for multiple branching timelines, but in a way that is curated. The TVA goes from a focus on purity, the one and only "sacred timeline" to a focus on *growth*: "Let's figure out which timeilines don't break everything and nurture those branches." They're still making decisions about life and death for countless others, but they're trying to nurture the multiverse rather than strangle it, and because of that, people get their free will, we get the multiverse, and the TVA gets to monitor everything. And Renslayer gets eaten by Alioth. ;p

I agree with all but the last line. no way Alioth eats Renslayer. HWR may have weaponized Alioth; but I'd bet money it was Renslayer who held the leash you know?

my heart breaks for loki, it’s a pretty somber ending for him, but at least he knows his friends have a chance at life and people now have free will and have timelines that are nurtured like roots & branches of a tree, instead of being pruned.

So true! His finale was beautiful and tragic at the same time. I really hope there's way for him to leave at some point. He deserves to find true happiness now that he's experienced a noble purpose

@@AishaWilson agreed! i’m so proud of loki, and also i want him to reunite with his friends and loved ones. mobius seemed a bit sad at the end too, i hope the both of them get to find happiness again, and hopefully it’ll be something they can experience together!

I almost cried so many times during this episode.. I can't wait for Deadpool 3 next year, theres no way the TVA won't be involved in a multiverse movie.

Anansi. that what this loki ending reminded me of. anansi is considered a lot of things in west African/Caribbean lore. a trickster, shapeshifter, demigod etc. but anansi is also famously associated w/ wisdom, cunning, and being the keeper of stories in one of his many stories. the gist of this story goes either someone challenged him or he challenged someone else to take something at one point which contained all the worlds stories, he goes through some trial and error but eventually attains this thing, as bc of this story, is known as the keeper of all stories. another way of saying 'folktale' in ghanaian twi = 'anansesem', or 'spider stories', the idea being anansi, associated w/ spiders, is associated with spinning many tales, like threads. Hes associated w/ wisdom and cunning (i believe, feel free to correct me, any experts) because his stories, whilst many are associated with being a trickster, the cunning and ingenuity it takes to think and try such feats, and gain or lose certain things in the process, is arguably considered a metaphor for life lessons, building knowledge from such stories and experiences, and also mental creativity. the idea that OB said in ep5, you need someone who doesnt just know the logistics, the HOW and WHEN of science (that loki presumably learned over those centuries of time skips) but also a certain ingenuity and cunning associated with 'weaving fiction', like a charlatan or trickster, maintaining it, the WHY, feels like a poetic arc for me for loki. he was always the butt of the story, now through growth he arguably embodies the idea of a story, in and of itself. if none of that didnt make any sense, thats fine. youve just seen a snippet into the word/picture vomit of my mind, dont freak out.
