"You have to pay the cost to sit in the big chair," He Who Remains. I have watched this episode three times and the writing in this is so tight that every line of dialogue comes back to the final decisions the characters make. They even draw on season 1, which had different writers. This show is a triumph of storytelling.

He may seem alone at the end, but he certainly isn't gonna get bored. He can watch across all the universe, all the possibilities, from the start of the time till the end. Now there are two things here : 1. He has infinite time. 2. He is insanely smart, a god, knows magic personally taught by the greatest witch of Asgard (his and Thor's mother, Freya), and he already has spent centuries in learning and mastering the science and mechanics of the universe (when he was trying to save the loom.) He is gonna learn so much, get so wise and experienced and with time (idk even the concept of time holds here since he is now outside of time but for sake of argument let's assume) he is only gonna get so powerful and knowledgeable. Loki just became the God of the Multiverse, not just the God of Stories.

I love the idea that you can’t tear something down unless there’s something better to replace it. Loki hesitated to destroy what is there even though it had obvious problems, Sylvie wanted to tear it down but didn’t have any idea how to make it better/no real solution or replacement, but Loki finally understands that Sylvie is right and he is right. He has to solve the problem, but he has to think outside the box and be creative. There are times when it feels like there are no good options so we have to get our hands dirty. For instance, it really seemed like Loki would have to kill Sylvie. But when you can time travel and time isn’t a scarce resource, that’s not good enough. Loki thought he had to choose between killing Sylvie or killing everything, but that’s a false dichotomy. It’s a failure of imagination, and Loki realizes there’s another way. That’s so key. I understand the urge and the conviction people have in trying to change things. They know the status quo is unacceptable. But the mistake so many people make is failing to have a better replacement or thinking they have a solution when really it’s something we’ve already tried or it’s poorly thought through. Most people haven’t even thought about it. They just jump on the band wagon of “tear it down, the system is rigged.” And they’re right, but you can’t tear the system down unless you’ve got a better idea. A specific, practical way of making it better. You can tell who cares about a specific issue based on how practical and thought through their solution would be if they were in charge. If they’ve never even considered what they’d replace the status quo with, then they don’t actually care.

This explains why the Time stone is green. Loki isn't at the end of time...he sits at the beginning of time now.

@@Squigi No, I meant what I said, lol. BUT, I will agree that Love & Thunder was…woefully underwhelming. And, as a Gen Xer, I was annoyed with Cassie in Quantumania. I cannot stand the “know-it-all” teens that back-talk and disrespect her parent(s). I’m old school and respecting parents and authority figures (grand parents, older relatives, etc) are huge. They’re not your friends or peers. But I digress, lol. And the story of Quantumania was also all over the place. Marvels was….fun and funny at times, but discombobulated. Like a trillion different producers had their hands in editing, post-shoots, etc.

@@ian_fordLol, as another Gen X person, I really gotta dispute the whole "respecting parents and authority" part. They're the ones that chronically failed us. And I loved The Marvels. It was a ton of fun. So don't try and speak for a whole generation.

@@PaulGuy For starters, I never said I was speaking for all Gen Xer’s. I was speaking about MY experiences, and you made a faulty inference that I was casting a wide net across all in my generation. Regardless of the generation we are discussing, those who do not value paying deference to those who came before you, I sincerely question that person’s moral baseline. And then, guess what…succeeding generations will treat YOU even worse. And we can see the degrading of that moral baseline decade after decade. So, no. Under no conditions would I allow a “Cassie” to talk to me, who gave her life, in that manner. Because I’d never address her, as my child, in that manner. End of story.

I believe that in Episode 1 where Loki saw all the crap he did and saw that Thor still loved him, it changed him! Without that, he would have never been the savior of the Multiverse! Then, when making friends in his new life, he let go of all his pride and decided his "glorious purpose" was to save the all worlds in the multiverse! I don't think he was sad, I think he was proud! I hope he returns in Secret Wars! He is just fantastic!

A great part about this ending is that it references classic Norse mythology. It was always Loki's destiny to destroy the world so that it could be born anew, an endless cycle of death and rebirth. This is why he was often depicted as an ouroboris, a snake eating its own tail

This Loki had a almost Doctor who vibe to him trying to find another way even at great personal sacrifice. Speaking of which i wouldn't mind Hiddleston as the Doctor. Just saying.

The end is the beginning, time is a cycle. Loki didn't just replace he who remains, he is the one above all who created all of it aka Yggdrasil the world tree. This was always his purpose, also possibly why his story continued despite dying multiple times. He is the alpha and the omega. Chills all over.

I just realised He Who Remains was right when he said the loom prevents a brutal war where nothing survives, cause the moment Loki destroyed the loom all the branches died, so he had to sustain it himself so all the branches could live. Hate that Loki had to end up alone, but his sacrifice is so epic. Sylvie still has a lot of character growth to do though, yes she did say they needed to tear down but never did anything to help re-build, she's still a very selfish character who only states problems but never willing to sacrifice to give solutions.
