Boz has one of the finest voices anywhere. Great tone, fabulous phrasing, passionate voicing are the hallmarks of Boz Scaggs. Listening to him sliding into notes and then compressing the final note to reach your deepest soul. Boz plays a great guitar and is a superior songwriter. I saw him in the late 60s when he was with Steve Miller Blues Band as a founding member. His growth since then leaves him as an American Icon. He can touch a place inside that very few singers can. God bless Boz Scaggs.

Some people make fun of his voice...but You and I know "it's butter" The fact that he plays every genre is a tell tale sign he is a brilliant musician. I have followed him since the 70's which means I have seen him 40+ times. Go figure. lol

Fell in love with the song when I discovered the Skydog anthologies 40ish years ago, and have played it tens of thousands of times since. Boz still is top of his game! Sad he doesn't have Duane beside him. What album would I have if on deserted island and could only choose 1? Duane Allman Anthology I and II of course (4 discs- ; )). So many legends came through Muscle Shoals Fame Studios. My older brother and sisters turned me on to many a great bands and music, but I found this on my own. The best part about youtube for me is the education I get in the comments, and searching out the source, which is always easy. Fenton Robinson deserves much credit for Duane's inspiration. Like following 'Shake your hips' from the Stones back to Slim Harpo. Got criticized (trolled?) for liking a song and not crediting the original, and since have been finding the source of things. 'When the Levee Breaks' original can be found and is every bit as good as the new one with technology and studio mastering on its side.

I grew up in Muscle Shoals, Alabama where this was first recorded. When I consider how new and incredible this was in the late 60’s, I just shake my head. Especially when Duane Allman was making this stuff as he went. He had never heard great blues/lead. He was it. And the rhythm section (the Swampers, according to Ronnie Van Zant) wrote the book on backing this stuff. Mercy. This is sick. Always has been. Boz is the least credited Master of his generation. “…my old time, used to be.” Are you kidding me? How incredibly gifted. Thanks, Boz. Boz Scaggs is one of the best musicians to ever come out of Dallas, Texas (and we've had more than a few, including Stevie Ray Vaughan). But Scaggs has always gone in unique directions. Back in 1975, when everybody else was looking to play stadiums at volume levels high enough to bring down any airplane foolish enough to fly too close, Boz did a black-tie optional concert at the venerable Dallas Music Hall featuring a 20-piece backing orchestra. What other rock oriented musician did anything like that back then? As you would expect, it was stellar. I've always thought of him as kind of the thinking man's blues interpreter, but any way you look at him, he's a national musical treasure. And, having recently seen him do a long televised interview, a first-rate human being too.

Made sure my two, now grown, children developed an appreciation of good music as part of their education. Man oh man. This is blues, rock fusion. So far ahead of his time. And I do believe he's still alive. I was only 17 back in Michigan when I was getting blown away with this song. And it's only one of many 😮❤😊

I went to a boz Skaggs concert this evening in Clearwater Florida, and they did this song as their final song of the night. It was so awesome that it gave me chills. Great show!

Mark Daniels Yes, I saw him live at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley California in 1972. He was wearing a classy all white suit. Amazing performance. I think Boz Skaggs fans are special people. He is so unique.

When I was playing professionally back in the 1970’s, I’d heard Boz in Philadelphia and had the thought in my mind that I wanted to play in his band. I felt it was the finest band I’d ever heard! That never happened and it was my lifelong loss. God bless you, Boz, for all the years of incredible music.........for me, some of the greatest songs ever written.
